Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

"Your Honor, we the jury, find the defendant, Molecule8 . . . GUILTY of probable borderline fraudulent behavior."

I'm not a lawyer, so I hold my hands up to that statement being wrong.

So, just putting your snide comments aside for a moment, I'm sure you can work out what I mean.

I agree that it's great they're being transparent with the process, but they've misled people. They must have known May 2017 was zero chance.

:clap Plenty of those types of comments in here from the usual suspects. :lol

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Why would a factory that makes these head as a business , take it upon themselves to change an alter a clients order ?

Because it's the factory's job to turn the prototype into a workable production piece.

When a company sends a factory a proto head, the factory has to modify it to accept a neck plug. When KA Kim sculpts a necked head, it's a solid piece. The factory hollows out the neck and molds it it accept the plug. That's precisely how the production process works.

Factories alter prototypes all the time. Often what someone can do in a 1/1 piece cannot be replicated in a mass production scale, so the factory has to alter the process to make it work. Most of the time a proto will be glued together and they'll say "Oh, the factory will figure it out" because production can do things that "artists" can't do in a studio, or fabrication facility, or whatever you want to call it.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I think the factory made molds of the heads, cut the necks of those heads, molded them again to PVC and now this is where we're at. So, we're two generations away from the master, so you have noticeable loss of fine detail, mainly in the hair..

That's exactly the answer PVC is a cheap material which won't capture the details as well as Resin, I believe they play on using a resin sculpt in the end.
So the common sense thing would be to make tons of moulds of the 1st sculpt instead of recasting a recast and losing details.

Star ace are a great example of what a good sculpt cast badly looks like!:rotfl

I'll be ordering Wonka Via a retailer £40 deposit is better than the full price up front anyway.
As for Lennon I'll keep my order I'm not fussed if they push the date back to deliver something better as long as they do use the time to improve. :)

Companies have never hit their estimated release dates. Ever.

It's incredibly naive to think May 2017 was realistic.

When the Ghostbusters were offered, the estimated release date was December and no one thought that was realistic, but no one is upset about being lied to or being misled.

The common sense thing would be to not have your $15k commission sculpt have a neck, if you know your body is going to have a neck. But let's let bygones be bygones.

I've not been collecting long, but I understand delays and some delays can last years. What my point is, and I'm obviously doing it badly, is that it's not an unforeseen delay that can't be helped. They knew all along and had no intentions of releasing it soon. They misled people, such as myself, to raise capital. That's where my fraud statement came in - deliberately and knowingly misleading people. Isn't that fraudulent?

So, go ahead and call it "naive" if you wish, but I see it as being that simple.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

So M8 posts a new unattainable release date and all of a sudden they are ok? This has gotten so bizzare.

I've been reading through these pages and to be fair it's only the few usual idiots that think it is fine to attack new members here and say a company taking money for nothing is A-OKAY. :lol :lol

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

It's not anywhere near that point yet :lol

Even though they haven't put anything out yet, but guilty anyway :lol

You really think it's that cut and dry? :lol

And so should have any collector that has an ounce of brainpower :lol

How many members have you pushed away with your trolling them?

I was thinking the exact same thing. Tried ignore but unfortunately they are a moderator and the system won't allow it.

Some of us have lives and don't want to sit and lynch a company for trying to bring some cool 1:6 pieces to the table.
This hasn't gotten bizarre just realistic. As someone who worked on a custom project that took a long time I understand just a few of the set backs!

M8 do need to wise up a bit yes but they are doing what they see fit and I agree with it, to many Impatient self entitled people in this hobby. Speaking as a guy who wants this company to work I fully support a delay if it improves the figure, I do not want to pay for a half assed figure I know that much so I welcome a delay for quality. :rotfl:rotfl

The thing I find most interesting is most of the people stiring the **** are people who haven't even ordered :rotfl
I really think until the final piece is shown people need to ease off a bit and then if the final is bad then complain....My advice would be order via a retailer and just see what they do before trying to lynch them. I fully support M8. :duff

Too much sense in this post

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Too much sense in this post

I think it makes sense to call them out on what has appears to be way over the top claims and obviously false statements....and I am not talking about just the release date.
