Re: Molecule8 (New company)

It does seem strange. Maybe it is a typo on the site then? Language barrier referring to the pre-order? :dunno

Doesn't look like a typo - at least not the "May" part - maybe it's supposed to be 2018 and not 2017 though. :)

Anyway, the presentation is structured to indicate the product will ship in May. Below the sliding image preview you'll see a green "meter" style bar, starting at "Development" and ending at "May 2017" - seems to indicate development through to ship date, IMO, which matches up with the date under the Pre-Order button which itself is right under the "Includes Free Worldwide Shipping"

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Considering there are no pictures of the clothing or even prototype castings shown of several accessories, I would be surprised if this happened. But pleasantly surprised. Be great if they put out a high quality product, and can do it quickly.

Yea that's gotta be May of 2018.....

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

I'll believe and remain positive ...

I'll wait until it's released.

:lol

Still not that sure, right?

This is the strangest thing I've ever seen. No figure shown, shipping in May (a week away), taking full payment upfront. Plus the oddity with how this company appeared, AND the questionable history of the two principals.

Any money back guarantee?

I'm more than interested how this is gonna go in May. *illegal popcorn-eating gif needed here*

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

I'm under the impression that may is when the full reveal will be which is stupid given the fact it's up for Pre orders now!
I'm holding off. :lecture I really want this but I feel very conscious about ordering without showing a full figure.

The only things are real are the sculpt and the glasses everything else is renders. I'll hold out till I see the full thing :lecture

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

PayPal buyer protection should cover the purchase in case of non-shipment, but only up to 180 days.

Godfather... The glasses are more than likely rendered and composited on the photo of the sculpt (compare to image of glasses alone).

The only thing strange, when compared to standard practise of other retail figure companies, is the pre-order active before the product is shown. This is more like the down-payment stage of a custom run in that regard.

And maybe that's part of their strategy - shoot the price up to $400 when the full reveal happens and then to $500 when it ships. :)

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Did anyone mention that when you order the money is taken strait away? Because it is. FYI. :lecture

They have to take the payment right away because they are using the $300 that you just sent them to pay for someone to sculpt the figure's prototype cuff links which will be teased on the website next month with the sliding bar updated to June...Come on people I need more of you guys to pre-order this so in a couple of months they will have enough cash to post a picture of John Lennon sixth scale blue jeans!

Or maybe because a PayPal authorization only holds funds for up to 3 days at a time and funds can only be captured on the transaction for up to 29 days total (multiple re-authorizations can be made during those days, ending after the 29th when the transaction can no longer be captured).

That's PayPal.

Why not to say that it is special pre-order price?
Overall with lots of renders and ZERO product, I would not give them my money without seeing the final product and how will materials and body actually look and work. New things often have a lot of areas to improve. And it is not a kickstarter to pay for ideas, they're supposed to sell products. :lecture

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Well, I'm actually more interested in their underlying skeleton...
That looks amazing!
I wonder if they'll sell those things loose.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

That skeleton is weird. Are they gonna put a skull into the head sculpt, and will the bodies be rubber? I'm eager to see more from them. Especially if they're planning to get this out next month.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Like some kind of weird phicen terminator. An endoskeleton molded into rubber skin sent back in time to kill your wallet.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

I'm glad the first figure is John Lennon, because I have no interest in him at all. I won't have to worry about not ordering and then missing out when everything turns out to be legit, and I really hope it is. I don't think the $300 price tag is too bad for high quality unique figures that you're not going to see anywhere else. Hope we do see this shipping in May.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Super odd- real peculiar on all fronts. Never would send them money now with things so vague.

I saw that they are calling it a "core figure armature," but to make that work with some kind of skin material, keep it durable, and not make it look like that guy is 300 pounds will be a challenge. Think about that rib cage, and Lennon's physique.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

I'd love some someone to make a nice metal figure armature covered in foam and cloth body (not PVC, not rubber, not silicone). That would be perfect under clothing. Then optionally cover exposed parts like fore-arms in plastic/silicone.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

That endoskeleton makes no sense. Unless the head sculpt is going to be a rubber mask, you can't use the skull. Phicen's internal armature is a stick figure and it works extremely well. Why do you need a rib cage? If the silicone is going to be a super thin layer like real skin, tears are going to be a problem.

I don't see the utility, either. And frankly, I don't see the value in going out of your way with a full, seamless body at all when the bulk of it is being covered. Beyond the novelty of it.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

It's paypal we got buyer protection, if I get ripped off oh well [emoji30][emoji30]

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Perhaps a full skeleton for artist use (akin to Art S. Buck) and just the skeleton bod for their figures..?
This is weird...
