Re: Molecule8 (New company)
What Molecule 8 is doing right now is very similar to what Enterbay did back in the day with the first Game of Death Bruce Lee figure.
At the time, it was also limited in production, came out with the "innovated" eyes to switch out, a real wood diorama with serial numbers and production number certificate. It was also slightly more then double the price of a Hot Toy back in the day. They wanted to differentiate their product, and make it more high end, and I think JC Hong also contributed on paint apps as well.
The only similar problem is... we don't know what the end product is going to look like. EB's first figure (although was better then an average HT back in the day) was also weaker then the original prototype, which I worry might be the case here. However, there are many instances where companies have hit it outta the park on the first figure. Blitzway (Scarface), Storm Toys (Dennis Rodman), and Star Ace (Harry Potter & Steve McQueen) come to mind.
I'm ok with the price point too if they deliver. Its always nice to have pieces in your collection most other people don't have. Especially if its a figure of someone you like. Only downside is (like when Neca produced a Lennon figure), that this will be a stand alone, and is not part of the Beatle IP, hence no Paul, Ringo or George. I'm very likely getting one !
