Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

This looks kind of grim for Wonka. If they haven't secured approval for one I doubt they have for the other. Plus Wilder was known for keeping a tight leesh on his rights. I'm not sure his estate will be much different. Urg.

He allowed Sideshow to do the Young Frankenstein figure. As far as I am concerned with Molecule 8... I and not paying any mind to it and hopefully some figures come of it.

Getting the license to begin work on prototypes is different than getting the licensor's approval for actual production on said completed prototypes. You have to get the license first and then once you have a prototype you can show that and solicit pre-orders with the legalese tag of "pending final approval, actual production figure might vary" type of thing.

In this case, they got the licenses and then went about solicitation and prototyping out of order. They needed to at least get something for prototype beyond the awesome head sculpt and a bunch of vapor-wear CGI renders to present to both the holder of said license for initial approval as well to their potential customers.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

More from M8.
Does that mean you took preorders on something that hadn't even been approved by the licensor?
Hello

No, we hold the license for John.

As with all licensed products, the John Lennon estate will not let something associated with John be released until they are happy to do so.

Thank you

Molecule8 team

Exactly, my thinking as well.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Welp, called them on their lies from the start.

I love how they keep referring to their figure as "John" like it is actually THE John Lennon versus a plastic reproduction...in any event I hope KA Kim cashed her check already...

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

It's going to be one awkward conversation with the bank if that 15K check bounces.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Of course her check has been cashed long ago.
You're forgetting the new and revolutionary way molecule8 work.
The figure was finished long ago and all these prototype pics and posts about delays were from the past, in fact their customers have owned the John figure for a couple of years now without realising it.
Revolutionary.

Given the flood of Wonka stuff after Wilder died, I don't know

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Ah, then I recant my statement. If we could get a decent Wonka out of this I would easily be done with M8 that very instant. lol

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Now what's really gonna scratch your noodle is how much worse this would have been had Wonka been the first release...

I would have been on the hook for sure.
