Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

This is more like it.
Hi,

We are working very hard on John, he's coming along great.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I still find it weird they went with John Lennon as their first figure tbh It's as good as any I suppose but didn't realise there was such a huge market for him. I wonder how many pre-orders they actually have for him? Must be a few if its on sideshow.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I don't have a pony in this race anymore so I'm content to just wait it out and see what happens.

I don't know about that. The way you defended them for months, you are probably directly responsible for at least 50 standing orders.

I still doubt very much any real product from this 'company' is ever actually produced.

There a reason so many people raised red flags from the way this unrolled. Was kinda obvious this was not exactly a bullet proof enterprise.

Congrats on the refund though. Lucky if you ask me.

Well that's a very interesting point of view. Thank you for sharing.

"Directly responsible" :lol

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I really wanted this company to succeed, but the bottom line is that the refund clock is ticking and I went for it. If a product actually came to market just order from Big Bad Toy Store where you have nothing to lose.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

You should be flogged PT, such a sin to support a company. :lol

And then to bail and ask for a refund. Sorry, had just read the entire thread for giggles and PT was mocking anyone who had the temerity to question M8's good name for quite some time.

I am glad that logic eventually won out. Truly. Hate seeing anyone ripped off in this hobby. Bad enough we've had retailers do it. But if you have a standing paypal order with these guys, you would be crazy to let your buyer protection run out.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I think 'directly responsible' is a little strong, but I must admit, this:

I don't have a pony in this race anymore so I'm content to just wait it out and see what happens.

- reminded me a little of this:

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Well I certainly won't apologize if you mistook my optimism and unwillingness to jump on the "it's fun to hate" bandwagon as mockery or arrogance. That would be your problem, not mine.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I think this is one situation where being a 'hater' is justified, and I'm afraid to say it did end up being a lot of fun - people kept calling this thread 'the gift that keeps giving' - giving more pleasure to people then anything the company actually did. On the other hand the company caused numerous people a great deal of stress, and they had trouble getting refunds.

I'm not sure optimism was ever warranted - cautious optimism, perhaps - and certainly I think scepticism was valid from the beginning and didn't really deserve to be attacked or mocked.

I hope anyone sitting this one out has a pile of incredibly soft pillows under their ass, especially if they're straddling a fence.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Wait, so what's going on here? I don't feel like reading back through countless pages. :lol

Has M8 pulled the plug on this figure? Or have they closed their doors before ever really opening them or something?

I canceled my PO for this a couple months back. Got suspicious when you didn't even see a working prototype and no body of work in which to judge them.

I've enjoyed some of the banter in this thread, but some people were definitely taking it too far. After it became apparent it wasn't a scam, it was also clear that M8 wasn't deceitful, just inexperienced and incompetent.

Having a go at the company is one thing, but jumping on members here for defending them or maintaining their optimism is pretty juvenile.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

In fairness I feel like it was a lot of people really ripping into the company and then others being strangely outraged by people attacking this unproven company and attacking them for being "negative" or somehow against "the hobby" just because they were calling out blatant flim flam when they saw it. I think the folks that were initially attacking the company and defending themselves from the company's defenders have shown excellent restraint by not gloating in the face of having been proven to have been so right all along.

You don't think they were deceitful?

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Yeah, maybe "wasn't deceitful" isn't as clear cut as I made out there... I'm just more inclined to think they pushed their boat out too far with their massive ego.

That's not to excuse them in any way - deceitful or grossly incompetent, take your pick, as a doll making company they suck... I just think that some of the comments directed at the more optimistic members here went a bit overboard at times.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Maybe they are quiet because there is significant retooling going on...or at least that's the hope lol. I just recently got my refund through PayPal, so I also no longer have a horse in this race.

I think a product will deliver in the end of this all, but to what quality level is the question. I don't think they were purposely doing this as some big con. As someone said earlier, they pushed their boat out too far. They clearly spent a lot of money getting top sculptors and resources, hopefully they can turn that into something.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I think they have always intended to deliver a figure but they definitely lied about certain things like their progress on the figure and purposely misled folks by implying a level of product quality that they are incapable of delivering....which by definition is deceit
