I would be with you on this. I seen this as a kid several times and just thought it was the coolest. Unfortunatley it came on one of my movie channels a couple years back and it didn't hold up for me so good.

I may get it. Loved it as a kid but what we perceive as being good as children to adults may differ. Sometimes you can trust the old kid in you and sometimes you can't.

This anniversary DVD, plus the special editions of Dark Crystal and Labyrinth make an 80s child like me extremely happy!!

I'm sure this won't hold up well after all these years, but I loved watching this on HBO in the late '80s when I was in first and second grade. I simply MUST OWN this DVD!!!

20th anniversary!?! Crap I feel old :monkey2 :monkey2

:lol Me TOO!! :monkey2

Anyway, I will SOOO be buying this movie!! Love Monster Squad, it's been sorely missed from my DVD collection. AND my wife has yet to experience it's awesomeness. :rock

I am telling you I am with you guys! Don't buy it. I have great memories of this movie and I was horrified when I watched it. The same thing happened with The Land of Far Away. I loved it as a kid. Just wrong as an adult.

This movie was awesome back then..one of the first movie I saw on pay television when i was a kid....I still remember a guy in the movie had a t-shirt with the logo: '' Stephen King Rules'' :lol

I remember enjoying the movie a lot as a kid, but I haven't seen it in at least 10 or 15 years.

I will give it a rent for sure.

I'll be buying this also. :chew

I still remember my Grandfather taking me to see this at the theater.

I've got this on laserdisk and still watch it once in a while.

I know some Uni Monster fans were rather upset with the movie but IMO it's more of a homage to the classic films.

Yeah, it's cheesy. Yeah, it's horrendously dated. Yeah, it's basically a sucky movie once viewed through the eyes of adulthood.

But WHO CARES?!?!?!?!!!!

It's supposed to be all that stuff, and that was the magic of it. Plus, it's a two disc set for only $15, so it'd be worth it just for the retrospective and other features.

And where else can one hear commentary on a werewolf's genitalia??? :lol

Seeing as how "destruction of any and all pleasant nostalgia" has become a veritable genre in recent years, I've made up a generic template to make it easier for me to post the most recent studio attempts at recreating our childhoods with CGI and sadness. Here's the latest:

Hey, remember that show/movie/toyline you enjoyed as a child, Monster Squad? Well, bad news. It's being re-made into a movie by Rob Cohen, director of xXx, Stealth, terrible things. Here is a related quote:

“The Wolfmans got Nards! What a great line" Cohen jokes with Bloody-Disgusting. "I am talking with Paramount about the ownership rights, we just found out that because of all the different companies being bought and sold, (it was so hard to do) but we believe all the rights are back at Paramount. I have been waiting to finish this (third Mummy) film, to really start the talks about remaking it. Maybe I would direct, maybe someone else with me producing. I really think highly of that that film…I mean, how great is it with The Mummy, the Wolfman, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, Frankenstein they all were in it! It would be a prime remake!”

Time to go quietly sob in a hand-dug hole!

I got news for you. I loved this movie when I was a kid. Having gone back and watched the original as an adult. I must say this.

The original was pretty damn lame.
