So with places like Bloomberg and such reporting iphone for Verizon in January it seems to be a little more than a rumor this time around. Especially when compared with what Barclays anaylst recently released in a research report about them working on a CDMA product. So my impatience is driving me mad. Should I wait and see or would I have picked the X over iphone anyway? Decisions, decisions.

With tech, you could be waiting forever. Especially if you're waiting on a Verizon iPhone. Analysts are all bull____. Every single one of them. They're all just talking out of their collective ass looking for hits to their web site.

If you need a phone now, the phones being released next year are irrelevant. If you can wait, then by all means, wait. But keep in mind you'll probably be waiting a very long time and could be stuck with a limited data plan.

Ok what I liked:

Screen size

Speaker phone volume (iPhones is horrible IMO)

It felt nice in the hand Its heavier then the iPhone yet felt lighter

Love the animated backgrounds

The stock sounds are WAY cooler then iPhones

What I didn't Like:

Clunky clunky clunky. The navigation is not even close to iPhone

The menus are crazy! Seriously not a user friendly interface at all. I am going to have fun trying to teach my 56 year old mom to use it.

The touch screen isn't nearly as smooth as I would like

It came with no earphones or instructions. If you want them you can DL them or call Motorola. (If you are a first time user WTF?)

The camera and video are close but not on par with the quality of iphone.

This is nitpicky and I know it! But whats up with the huge Verizon logo on the front? The phone is by no means pretty but that makes it just look cheap!

That's it for now. I plan on spending tomorrow with the device. I still believe both phones are great. Just glad I picked up iPhone.

are you talking about the droid x?

Bloomberg isn't basing their info off anaylst though, and Businessweek magazine is a legit source. They claim the info comes from inside sources they didn't want to name. The analyst was just in supplment to the Bloomberg report. The issue with me though, and you touched on it, is if I need a phone. I don't need one I just want one, but I can't decide if the benefit of waiting outweighs that of not having one now to start the journey.

I could pull the trigger now, but I'm waiting

I think I'd wait then. The dual core processors should hit Android phones as early as this fall. That should give enough time to see if there is an validity to the Apple/Verizon rumors.

Yep another Droid is due out before Christmas that is supposed to have a hell of a processor.

I never found my droid difficult to use.I am not even sure if it came with a manuel or not. Just messed with it for a few hours and learned everything I needed to know. I have never used an iphone, but I guess they are easier or simpler to use. But really I never had an issue learning to use my droid. I thought it was all pretty straight forward.

I would like to use an iphone to see what all the hype is about, but AT&T has horrible coverage around here and basically no one has iphones.

If you do a lot of customization you may be dissapointed by the iPhone. What it does well, over a droid IMO:

Take Pictures and Video (the droid is close but iphone is clearly better)

A larger selection of apps and games

Better Screen

Ease of use

Battery life (far superior iPhone 4)

Syncing everything (at least from a mac) is fantastic

Honestly Chase if I could have both I would. LOL! I want my cake and eat it too! You will find no fanboy hate here. I LOVE both devices!

I do love the customizing aspect. That's probably my favorite thing about it. I consistantly change things.

Its the ease of use that has me intrigued, not that I have ever had an issue with the droid, but I am curious. I would never switch since AT&T is non existent here, but I would at least like use one for a day or two.

Syncing is something I'm kind of torn with on Android. The first sync, setting everything up and all that, is a pain in the ass on Android. You basically have to load all your Address Book and Calendar data to Gmail. It was easy enough for me on the mac, but I could see a lot of people having trouble setting this up, especially people who are used to just plugging the iPhone in and having it do all the work for you. Apple is clearly better here.

But, after that initial setup, I much prefer Android. Why? Because there is no syncing. Everything happens over the air. I add an event to my phone, and it shows up on iCal and Gmail without me having to do anything else. If I had an event in iCal, it shows up on my phone. It's like Mobile Me, except it's free and it works. So I really prefer Android here.

If Apple started including Mobile Me with the iPhone (and worked out some of the kinks), then I'd say Apple is the clear winner for syncing.

I don't even know what mobile me does? LOL! I have read that they are working on something for a future upgrade though that would sync through wi fi.

Keith, you are such an Apple whore. My evo destroys your icrap.

Hardly, LOL! The EVO is nice, don't get me wrong. Both phones are great as well as the Droid X and Incredible. But comments like destroys on either end of the spectrum is cleary fanboy rhetoric. :lecture

I have to side with badmoon on that one... i have used both the iphone4 and droid x, and while i prefer the x because of its customizing aspects, i wouldn't go so far as to say it destroys the iphone. I think they are so close it really comes down to personal preference.

I see no need to point to which is better, cause bottom line, neither one is. Its personal preference, they both have pros and cons.

Thats why we have two threads, iphone thread and droid thread :)

Although Keith seems to be obsessed with telling us how much better his iphone is in this droid thread :pfft:.........:wink1:
