Sometimes it feels faster, sometimes not. I dont know for sure, its hard to say, its always been quick so :dunno The camers for sure is quicker.

I read the offical release should be on the 18th when it be in the Market.

Interesting. I did hear that the camera was a big improvement.

Hmmmm, doesnt work. It allows me to download but my phone wont accept it :dunno

1. You might need to allow installation from unknown sources under Settings>Applications>Unknown Sources.

2. Do you have an app to install other apps? I know that sounds confusing but I use an app called "appInstaller" that let's me install packages from the SD card that didn't come from the market (As long as #1 is true).

Those are the only things I can think of unless the download finished prematurely. You could always try redownloading it.

I keep reading about Opera Mini. Anyone here use it as their browser and is it really that much faster?

I've tried it and it really is much faster because all the data is compressed before it reaches your phone. It felt a little cluncky to me though and the pinch zoom in/out dosn't work with it. It is faster but it's just hard to get used to after using the default browser for a while.

I think the only apk's floating around out there require HTC Sense, so no soup for Droid yet.

I was able to install it from the link I posted on my Droid.

No problem and I'll keep an eye on this thread to steer Droidies in the right direction.

I would add the appInstaller app he recommend to me. You can also back up all your apps with it to.

Just to have in on post, a solid list of excellent apps for your Droid phone. Thnx for the added list cr!!!

My apps so far (wonder what those goofy pics are? Download Google Goggles):

Abduction - A simple but *really* fun game where you use the phone's accelerometer to collect power ups and bounce your cow up to the sky.

Adobe Reader - PDF reader. 'nuff said.

Advanced Task Killer Free - If an app doesn't have a "quit" option built in, ATK is how you quit it. There are also some settings to automatically quit background apps, but I haven't had the need to use 'em on my Droid X. If you need to quit an app and that app doesn't have a quit option, ATK is what you need.

AIM - AOL Instant Messenger. 'nuff said.

Air Control Lite - Really fun game where you guide airplanes and helicopters to the correct landing strip without colliding into other vehicles. I had a similar game on my iPhone (but I forgot what it was called), this mimics that fun very well. You just draw a path with your fingers, nothing could be simpler. It is the perfect waiting room or waiting in line game.

Aquarium Live Wallpaper - This is the wallpaper I'm currently using. It's beautiful. The paid version gives you more options, but the free version is nice enough.

Astro File Manager - This app is absolutely necessary. It's basically the Android equivalent to Explorer on Windows or Finder on Mac OS. You want access to all your files without having to plug your phone to your computer? Astro File Manager is what you need. It's also the only way (that I've found thus-far) to sideload apps. What is sideloading? It's installing apps from outside the Android Marketplace.

Barrr - This is a fantastic (AND FREE!!!!) Diner Dash clone. Really fun, and has some good humor too.

Baseball Superstars 2010 - The QR code I linked to is the free version, but I bought the full version for $5.99. This game is ____ing fantastic. It's a baseball sim in the same style of MLB Power Pros. Really, really, really fantastic. If you like baseball, you need to give it a try. The free version lets you play exhibition, but the true good stuff is in the RPG-esque season mode. If you've played MLB Power Pros, you know what to expect here. This is a really great game and you should buy it if you're like baseball.

Buzz Box - I downloaded this for the widget. Plain and simple. I just wanted a widget to show some news headlines. Buzz Box fills this need nicely. The reader is nice too.

Compass - It's a compass. And this is a really great app that gets the job done.

DoubleTwist Player - It's an okay music player that goes with the DoubleTwist iTunes sync replacement for Mac and Windows. I don't really use it anymore as my main music player has been MixZing for some time now.

Earth - Google Earth. 'nuff said.

Easy Note - This is a really great (and FREE!!!!) note taking and to-do list app. I actually prefer this to "Notes" on the iPhone. Really nice app. Use the QR code to get the right one, there are some imitators out there.

ebay - The official ebay app. I'm not an ebay power user at all, but I've found this official app to be infinitely more useful than the web interface to ebay. If you use ebay, you need this app.

Engadget - The official Engadget app. 'nuff said.

Gameboid - Gameboy emulatore for Android. 'nuff said.

Goby - If you are looking for something to do tonight or this weekend, Goby is your friend. Goby tells you what's going on around you. You can narrow down search criteria to suite your specific interests and taste.

Goggles - Google Goggles. This is my number one recommended app. Don't know what these goofy images I've been posting are? Download Goggles and snap a pic of one of 'em with Goggles. Goggles isn't just QR code translator - it's full featured image search app. Point it at virtually *anything* and learn more about it. Point it at a street and learn what shops and points of interest are there. Point it at a product, or UPC code, it will tell you more about it, including average price in your area. Use this app.

Google Sky Map - This is an astronomers dream. It uses the GPS and the compass to give you a fantastically detailed map of the night sky.

Handcent - Handcent has replaced my default SMS app. It's really great, especially if you're coming from an iPhone background. It mimics the iPhone's SMS program beautifully as well as giving you many extra options.

Aaaaaand it's late, so I'm calling it a night. I'll pick it up where I left off tomorrow night.
