Pretty ridiculous to me that Marvel would allow two so similar (almost exact)
sculpts, in the exact same scale, to be created by two different companies.
Were I Sideshow or MR, I'd take issue with that fact, as both products really
do compete directly with one another. (seems to me anyways)

The Sideshow version is clearly superior in my opinion. I really couldn't care less it's a similiar pose, buy the one you like.

MR's is sort of "crowding the plate". The scale of the building and the figure are off, or at least look off when comparing it to Sideshow's superiorly scaled statue.

they can't be the same scale as the scale is the licence & that's how they both get to do the same pose

MR - 1/12
SS - realistically 1/6

what was the venom statue scale as these should be the same?

Its about the scale. MR has scaled 1/6 minis, SSC has 1/4 scaled pieces. Eventually MR will make a Modern Age Captain America Shield and they'll coexist. I'm actually not shocked at all that we'll get two similar offerings but in different size, that pose is really definitive of this film.

Sooooooooooo wait, what are the scales FOR SURE? Do we know, cause though it was posted 1/12 for MR I thought that was amended to 1/6. And I thought someone said that the Venom is NOT 1/4 (gore group maybe?) Things are getting a bit murky now.

Martin said the Venom is 1/5th. He also said the SS Spider-man pieces are not in scale with his Venom. No scale has been confirmed on the Spider-man pieces yet.

Also according to MR's website with PreOrder page Spidey is listed as 1/12.

That's really unfortunate then, while not all some collectors will definitely be put off by the misleading of size....

If MR's statue is 1/6th than im REALLY dissapointed in the sculpt because at that size it should deffinately have the texture and detail that we see in something like sideshows venom.

I don't think it is clear whether it does or doesn't at this point.

It is a rather crowded scene out there now though, yeesh and two VERY similar pieces. The thing I don't care for about the SS Spider-man is the head position it is almost as if Spidey is dozing off.

Disagree, I think the MR one looks better, has an overall better effect going on with the background and mirror base.

MR's Pre Order page has been corrected:

Master Replicas said:
Through the magic that is only Master Replicas, the strong emotions evoked by this key film scene are beautifully rendered in this 3-D piece. Experience all of the anguish, heartache and strength of character that is Peter Parker with this wonderful, timeless sculpture.

Solid, high quality resin construction
Sculpted in 1/6 scale
Fully licensed by Marvel

Honestly, I like the layout of the MR one better but the pose of the SSC one....dependant on ship time I may break down and get both especially since the Red Suited and Diorama aren't doing it for me....

The MR is a great sculpt. I think the choice they made in lifting his head made the pose look like a King Kong pose. I prefer the Sideshow piece, but like the backdrop of the rain in the MR one.

Personally I think MR had a great idea but it's poorly executed & (IMO) looks cheap (church brickwork looks cheap & statue lacks detail esp. if 1/6 scale)

They could of made a more realistic rain background & the mirror bas just looks out of place

Interesting that the ledge on the MR looks closer to the poster:

I'd like to see the scene in the film first, as I rather have a scene specific statue rather than a poster specific statue
