My idea for SDCC exclusive this year

Yea, I'm thinking a Endor Han as well.

Then we can have another go around with the sculpt.

Endor Han would work well too. I think that we should get Endor Luke and Han already and get them over with so when we get to another movie besides ROTJ it will be a while before they come back to it.

I think whatever variant they do, it will be of a figure that will be releasing closer to the SDCC. I think the steam has run out over Han and Luke so a variant of them would be a bit of a late comer. Maul would be pushing it, and I don't think and EU inspired tattoo scheme would be enough (especially with all the extra cost to Sideshow)... I know it'd be a pass for me.

We don't really have a lot of "major" characters coming out between now and then. But maybe it will be a variant of the Leia figure (since she'll be out in the next couple of months)... maybe put her in some Endor rebel duds?

While "Endor Han" sounds reasonable (and pretty simple) for an SDCC exclusive (just lighten the hair, add the vest & duster, thermal detonators, "fingerless" glove alternate hands and maybe a "forest"-style base, I'm thinking another easy "Han" alternate could be "Skiff" Han....again, lighten the hair, no jacket, binders, force-pike, a different skiff guard blaster and "skiff"-style base.
Could be a way to wrap up the Jabba theme for awhile....

I hope that whatever it is, it is as easily available for folks who don't/can't attend the Con as SDCC Darth Vader was...

I would think the next SDCC exclusive would just be as readily available to non-attendees. Over time they may eventually have to raise the edition size, but I don't think they will lower it unless it is something very obscure and unpopular.

I don't think they'd resculpt it. They didn't for Mulder's "Home" variant and he needed a resculpt as badly as Han. Its just a quick way to make more $$$.

Well, the Mulder is a nice sculpt. I will post a picture on my repaint later. It isn't nearly as bad as Han (which was repainted as well, and looks better but definitely needs a better sculpt). The eyes, mouth, hair, and eyebrows were repainted and I am happy with him now.

As far as a SDCC exclusive, I would want OT character. Here is my list:

1) Bespin gown Leia
2) Endor Luke (mentioned before)
3) Han Solo in Carbonite (will make a great addition to Jabba, and would be very easy to make and manufacture).
4) Cantina aliens (mentioned before---make Figurin Dan and the band maybe)

You know, everyone's speculating like an SDCC exclusive would be a 1/6 scale item, who's to say it won't be a new PF with a variant or an existing PF variant.

The biggest disadvantage for the exclusive being a PF is carrying the things around all day at SDCC Im sure. These things weight like 15lbs and Im sure lugging it around all day wouldnt be to fun, so thats why I say get a regular Yoda out. You could fit it in a box the size of a 12" figure.

I wonder if there is any chance that there will be a Celebration IV exclusive as well as a SDCC exclusive.

Perhaps they might even be linked somehow... like an Endor Luke and Han.

Well that would be just great two very stressful PPO's for non attendees.

You're thinking of the SDCC exclusive in terms of marketing. I don't think we need to concern ourselves overmuch with that, as I don't think that's how SSC will choose what to put out. The SDCC exclusive is meant to be just a cool, easy variant that most collectors will see and think it's neat, but will be able to live if they don't have it. My money's on something like Endor Luke. An Endor expansion for Luke and Han would be VERY cool though.

And I'm not overly oncerned about a stressful PPO, since Sith Anakin is still relatively easy to acquire.
