This just made me shake my head....God gave you two legs. Run. Don't confront the situation. If teenagers were able to beat this animal to death with sticks, I highly doubt it was a "threat."

Bingo. Sloth or not, with distal phalanges structured like that, on a body like that, this animal was no threat IMO.

If I ever encounter something that I don't know what it is I'm going to run like hell. How do I know it won't kick my ass if I try to hit it with a stick? Plus one time when I was like 3 or 4 I killed a caterpillar by cutting it in half. I felt so guilty afterwards.

The same thing happened to me 8 years ago in the B.C. mountains, I was taking a very nice walk when all of a sudden Bigfoot jumps out of the trees. I figured I could run but decided to slap him instead. I was lucky, he ran away after that.
