Hmm all the talk about the Spurs being dinosaurs, look who else might be filing for their AARP cards soon...:nana:

Jerry West: Lakers' age a factor

Phil Jackson doesn't disagree when former Los Angeles Lakers general manager Jerry West says the current team has problems consistently clamping down on defense.

Late last week, West, a Hall of Fame player, said the Lakers are "getting long in the tooth" and drew a correlation between the team's age -- 10 players on the roster are 30 or older -- and a lack of defensive consistency.

"If there's a loose ball now, how often do they get to it? The reason you can't play defense is because you can't," West said.

Jackson's reaction?

"He's right. We have to do a lot of things right to be able to play defense the way we want to, and most of it is about controlling the tempo of a game," Jackson said.

"There's something about just speed. Outright speed. We're not the fastest team on the boards here in the NBA, but we can do it if we control things in the right way."

West, speaking at a luncheon for car dealers in Orange County, Calif., predicted the Lakers' age will catch up to them.

"I don't think the Lakers will be good for much longer. You can keep a car running for a long time by changing the tires, etc. But you can't change a player's tires," he said.

Interestingly enough, the Lakers actually rank as one of the better defensive teams in the NBA. They allow 96.4 points per game, 10th best in the league.

They allow opponents to shoot 43.8% from the field, tied for third best in the NBA, and 33.9% from three-point range, fifth in the league.

They are fourth in point differential, at plus-7.04.

In the last 10 games, the Lakers have allowed 93.3 points per game, fifth best in the league, and allowed opponents to make 43.8% of their field goals, fourth best. Their point differential during that span is plus-10.3.

The way that Wade was shooting I thought it would be enough but hey, that's why you play the games.

Of course the excuse will be everybody is hurt but whatever........

Wade's awesome shooting wasn't enough to make up for Bron's tough night. Bosh is huge for us. We need him back asaply.

:rock

Huge win, and to think we missed all those 3 pointers

Chandler has been playing terrible of late.

He told the New York Post that the trade rumors have, indeed, been bothering him.

At least he's honest.

I just got 6th row seats to the Knicks vs. Grizzlies on March 17th. Best seats ever in my 25 years of being a NYK fan : )

Yeah, I know...the Grizzlies suck. But good seats are good seats, especially at MSG. :panic:

:( That sucks dude. But not surprising in that city.

I'm watching us get crushed by the Hawks. Jamal Crawford is killing us. Wilson Chandler is not playing. Felton is building a house.

Oh well.

At least Fields is playing well. :gah:

____ you garnett you dirty little _____. youre an embarrassment to the nba...i hope you break your knee for good.

celtics all time record vs LA on his shoes

KG,
I am impressed you are using Bill Russell's accomplishments and posing them as you own. Here's an idea I will gladly lend to you with no charge. On the back of your shoe wear what you have done, and please feel free to use any of the following as I have spent a few minutes compiling records for use:
1-1, record of Celtics vs Lakers in NBA Finals with KG
3-3, record of Celtics with KG vs Lakers in regular season
10-9, record of Celtics with KG vs Lakers (playoffs included)
1-3, record of Garnett's teams (Minny and Boston) in playoff series vs Lakers
11-14, record of Garnett's teams vs. Lakers in playoffs
19-33, record of Garnett;s team vs Lakers in regular season
30-47, record of Garnett's teams vs Lakers (playoffs included)
It's great that the Celtics hold a slight edge on the Lakers, but don't go bragging about it like you had something to do with it. Bill Russell is a timeless legend that won 11 titles and dominated the NBA like no other player. KG will be remembered as a good player who played hard and along with the Timberwolves GM the reason why the NBA lockout occured in 1998.

Bosh is over rated. Players in the league mock him. Big men that can't play under the basket are useless come playoff time..

I agree he is huge for you because with him you only have 3 players.. Better hope everyone is in peak health come June..
