I believe in 2005 or 2006 after Shaq left La-la land to Miami. Kobe had the Lakers in the play-offs vs Phoenix. I recall Kobe's heart, guts, and willingness to shoot was in question as the Suns pounded on the Lakers. A few years later Kobe wins the MVP.

I do not think Lebron fears the big shot, he has a different game than Kobe. He is young (24 /25) and he is still learning aspects of the game. Consider Lebron is 24 /25 (now) and Kobe would of been 27 /28 (05 /06). Perhaps it is a learning curve for younger players to know when to shoot vs pass.

Kobe's game is similar to Jordan's in they both are scorers. Lebron's game is more Magic / Robertson. Lebron is not a true scorer and looks to distribute or create for others first. Based on his game he did as expected.

Not that I care one way or the other (I don't particularly like Kobe or Lebron), but Lebron is the number 2 scorer in the NBA (28.4 points per game), regular season, Kobe is number 3 (26.8). Lebron took an average of 19.9 shots a game, Kobe took 20.9:

i just think the smart play is to pass the ball when you dont have a good shot, theres no shame in having confidence in your teammates. so he doesnt take ONE shot, and all of a sudden, he is overrated  that kind of remark just means one doesnt know anything about playing the game of basketball. everyone knows Kobe makes the most game winners and i have seen him pass the ball for game winners that made or missed plenty of times, but Lebron i believe has made the 2nd most this year.

Whether the decision was selfish and stupid, or brilliant, or if it the outcome was random chance and the decision didn't matter, it was just one decision. Whether a good or bad thing happens in one play, it's just one play, and doesn't amount to much to me.

Perhaps I was not clear.

IMO: Kobe has a scorers mentality, never found a shot he didn't like. Lebron does not have a scorers mentality, he would rather pass / create first then shoot.

The game on the line Kobe would prefer taking the shot whereas Lebron would rather have options (shoot or pass).

Example:
Scorer can shoot 12 - 39 leaving teammates uninvolved or reverse is a scorer can shoot 18 - 20 and be on fire.

Passer can be tentative and pass out of a situation they should have shot or a passer can pass to open teammate for the game winning bucket instead of forcing a shot.

Neither style is right or wrong just is the type of player. The stats prove both do what is necessary for their team to win (28.4 ppg) v (26.8 ppg).

this whole discussion is pretty full of idiots. Lebron overrated and scared...where do you go for drugs?

thats you. I still maintain anyone calling Lebron scared and overrated is (I'll qualify it here) "basketball idiot". Might as well say Magic Johnson was the 31st best point guard ever, I hardly need to point out that thats idiotic.

I actually think the Lakers would have a tougher time against Orlando than Cleveleand..

They have a dominant big and a crew of deep perimeter shooters.. If they're hot you're in trouble..

On a side note we swept Cleveland this year and Orlando swept us.. Even though one of them they got lucky and stole..

At this point in their career I would take LeBron over Kobe.. Simply because Kobe is older and LeBron as alot of room for more growth, as good as he allready is.. Both are amazing players.. Kobe is a cold blooded warrior and LeBron has a body granted by the basketball Gods..

Assuming the rest of my lineup is made of average players, I take LeBron over Kobe because LeBron makes others much better. Same with if I was starting with zero players in my roster, I pick LeBron and build around him.

If I already had an above average or very good center, I probably take Kobe to contrast that.

If I actually OWNED the team and running an honorable business and wanted to feel good about paying someone millions of dollars its LeBron without a doubt. Kobe is pond scum.

what are you talking about? You're saying that Kobe is a model citizen? Gee...after cheating on his wife, being accused of RAPE, and then narcing on his teammate to investigators....:lol. You're right, what a great guy after all. Care to elaborate on where my analysis of his character is incorrect?
