The Clips have 9 new players on their squad.. I actually like alot of those guys.. But can never be a fan of the Clippers.. Ill quiety pull for them to do well though.. Love Baron's game.. Brand is an a hole for dicking over my boy Baron Davis...

Barons interview last night after getting thumped by the Lakers.. "We hit a wall"

Mark Heisler on the Lakers.

At this point, only haters and Celtics fans can deny the Lakers' greatness. Around here where we know our hoop, assuming it comes dressed in purple and gold, the first radio talk show host (Steve Mason) has already said the magic word, or number, "70."

Bynum signed a 4 year 58 Million contract today.. And just turned 21..

I agree potential is still yet to be achieved.. But anyone who has watched him and knows what it takes to play ball should understand this kid is Kobe's predecessor as the franchise player.

The jury is still out IMO. Without proof it is all hype. The NBA loves hype!! Too many can't miss players have fallen flat on their faces.

The kid is young and playing a tough position. Compare him to other young stars who are true franchise players his growth is far behind. He hasn't shown anything the first two games this season which is his biggest problem, consistency. Besides size and mobility for a big man what can the Lakers count on from him night in and night out? He start being consistent, I'll agree he is the Lakers successor to Kobe.

I feel for the kid following the Kobe era. Kobe is an all time great:wacky

Yeah wasn't Christian Laetner the "next big thing"?? :lol where is he now? :lol

UNPROVEN is the word of the day.

If he can stay healthy, come mid season he should be in full bloom for all to adore...

12 pts, 9 boards and 3 blocks in only 24 minutes isn't "anything"? I beg to differ.

I'll grant it is way to early to knit pick but for arguements sake lets check the 2 games stats of Bynum ($13.5 mil per) versus Ariza (no were near $13.5 per yr)

Bynum: 10.0 ppg, 6.00 rpg, .5 apg +13.5 eff rating

Ariza: 11.0 ppg, 4.00 rpg, 1.00 apg +13 eff rating.

I'm not a Laker fan :D I love KB24 and his ruthless on court instrincts. I hope he wins a championship without The Big Cactus. I also hope the Bynums, Odens of the league prove me wrong. I'm a fan of the half court game more than run and gun. To run half court sets you need effective bigs.

What I don't enjoy about the NBA is the hype machine, rewarding guaranteed contracts to unproven talent. Lebron, Bosh, Paul etc. are young studs and Kobe, Garnett, Pierce are the old guard who through consistent on court production earn them a billion dollars over 4 - 6 years. Tons of young "potential" players who can step up to the level of Lebron, Bosh, Paul etc. but until they do shouldn't get paid for it.

Perhaps I am wrong and should reconsider my stance. I'll have the "talk" with my employer today....look at all my potential and past success. The multi-million dollar projects I successful managed. I have the potential to double or triple that outcome saving and earning you millions. Maybe I'll get $54 mil over 4 yrs then retire :naughty

Hey, I'll be the first to say that Bynum doesn't "deserve" the amount of money he received yesterday, but Stephon Marbury doesn't deserve $20 million a year either. Unfortunately the NBA gives out money like Halloween candy so it is what it is. I'm just glad they locked the kid up for 4 more years because with him, Kobe, Gasol, Odom(if he stays around), Farmar, Ariza, Vujacic, etc. they've got a helluva team for the next few years.
