Yeah, Pippen was stupid with that comment. :lol

It was beyond stupid, still couldn't believe he said that, not sure what kind of drug he took that day :lol

When it's all said and done will Lebron be in the top 10 greatest of all time? If he can get 2 or 3 rings maybe we will have a conversation on that, but for now heck no, not even close.

Speaking of greatest of the greats, here is my top 10 NBA players of all time:

10. Oscar Robertson

9. Tim Duncan

8. Shaquille O'Neal

7. Larry Bird

6. Kobe Bryant

5. Bill Russell

4. Wilt Chamberlain

3. Kareem Abdul Jabbar

2. Magic Johnson

1. Michael Jordan

Lebron is a truly GREAT regular season player. And in the NFL thread some people were saying that warrants making Peyton Manning one of the top 10 greatest NFL players ever. I humbly disagree, because I think you need to prove you are the best by making a difference when it matters most in the playoffs, but. . .

Great top 10. I can never do top 10's. The only ones I can do for sure is Jordan and Magic as my top 2. The two greatest basketball players of all time. Every one else's placement on the list is almost interchangeable. I think my #3 is Bird, I think.

If LeBonehead would've won a few in Cleveland, I would've placed him in my top 5 but now he can win 10 rings in Miami and I wouldn't even rank him...

Boy Spurs fan was salty as **** a few pages back! :lol

Man do Spurs fans have thin skin, their team loses to a better team and immediately find way to insult the Lakers so they can feel better about themselves.

And it wasn't even the Lakers that beat 'em! :slap

Lebron turns all the hate into straight fuel, that's why he is king.

In what ****in' fantasyland is he 'King'? Among the true greats in NBA history he's more like a jester, not even royalty.

And nicknames are earned not self anointed. King? Joke.

Exactly.

No, not now. I said during th FA process (you'd know this but you hadn't decided to become a basketball fan) I would like to have them but after reports he quit on the cavs, the decision, multiple stupid comments, a real showing of immaturity, the just crappy way they act on th court I'm glad they didn't. The Bulls will be fine without them and we will get a title or two more before Rose's career is over.

Like I said he will most likely get a ring but it will be overblown by heat fans that he's the greatest ever. Most of us will know this isn't the case and know James has a long road to hoe to get within shouting distance of that.

I agree 100%.

Excellent list. Hard to disagree with that.

Russell is a solid number 2 in my book. I mean, 2 time NCAA champ and 11 time NBA champion in 13 years. That's just gaudy. He's one guy who had the physical skills, but also had drive and could close. Wilt is also in that category.

I try to keep guys like Wilt, Oscar and Russel off my list because the game was so different back then it's really hard to compare, so i prefer list that are maybe late 70's/early 80's to current. Either way good list, I feel Kobe is a tad too high though

.....(lol).....

funny how its hard to appreciate a player you dont like while he's playing... yet afterwards you appreciate them

i did it with bird, jordon, im kinda do it w. lechoke..

love me some kobe bryant... unbelievable player, full of awesome

He is a great player, but top 10 is asking a lot. Just like folks who dislike him need to check their biases, so do people who love the guy. I think Shaq was the more important ingredient for his first 3 titles, so that's something you have to consider when looking at his overall record and how great he was vs. everyone else. I would put Kobe in the top 20 players list, though. He had/has that Jordan like drive that Lebron doesn't IMO.

Kobe is indeed below Duncan, If the Duncan played in LA and Kobe in SA, Duncan would be a god by now. I know this board is filled with Laker fans and I'm really not trying to start a whole thing here but I've read this argument before and even I used to Kobe was over Duncan, but not anymore. Kobe is a great player of course, not saying he's not. Also, I think I'd put Shaq over Hakeem. I think my list would be.,

1.Jordan
2. Kareem
3. Larry Bird
4. Magic Johnson
5. Hakeem
6. Tim Duncan
7. Shaq
8.Kobe
9. Karl Malone
10. Isiah thomas

Like i said before I excluded guys that I felt were too old school and really don't like comparing them to more modern players.

But wouldn't you consider Kareem an "old school" player, since he was drafted in the late '60s?

I think Stockton was a greater player than Malone, all things considered. But neither will ever get that much recognition because they lacked rings.

It doesn't really matter from the POV of who was a greater NBA player, but Duncan is older, having played college before going pro. But like Bodie says, an all-time great list with current players is problematic anyway. Better to wait until guys have retired so we can fully view their legacy without quite as much bias.

  1. Jordan
  2. Russell
  3. Johnson
  4. Jabbar

  10. Duncan

No love for Shaq, the big diesel?

Wow you must be a Kobe hater, I would love to see your list of 19 people who are ahead of him.

Yeah we may be biased, Lakers fan will rate Kobe ahead Duncan, but Spurs fan will rate Duncan ahead Kobe. It will be interesting to hear from non Lakers and Spurs fans who is better. However, from what I have been hearing or reading most basketball experts would put Kobe over Duncan.

Btw interesting ranking you got there.

Bird over Magic? :dunno
Hakeem at # 5? if Jordan did not retire in those years, Hakeem would probably be ringless :lol

Yeah, shaq is a top 15 type player but for me he was always a big brute in the middle. He was so powerful that he didn't need to be the most skilled center and he couldn't shoot ft to save his behind. He's not much different than Wilt but I think Wilt was a bit more skilled. Then the last two on my list I think bring more to the table than shaq. All that being said if someone said you had to have shaq as the center I would.

I didn't say Kobe should be 20. I just said he shouldn't be 10 or higher (not that anything less would be acceptable to someone with a username based on that guy). I think everyone else on your earlier list probably goes higher than Kobe (including Shaq). I would put George Mikan and Bob Cousy above him for sure. Possibly Jerry West (who succeeded in a time dominated by Russel and Wilt). John Havlicek was great, but will always be overlooked because he played with Russell. There could be others.
