I wasn’t online yesterday, so I had NO idea Steve Nash was traded until this morning, and I haven't read through the recent posts yet. But Nash to the Lakers no less? Wow.

Steve Nash is one of the few players in ALL of professional sports that you really can’t find an issue with, personally OR professionally. If you’re not a fan of Steve Nash and how he handles himself on and off the court, you’re not a fan of basketball, period.

Kudos to the Phoenix Suns for doing right by Nash and trading him to the Lakers, allowing him to stay close to his family in Phoenix. He should have won a championship in Phoenix, if not for Robert Sarver’s penny pinching, Robert Horry’s hip check, and Jason Richardson failing to block out Ron Artest.

It’s a testament to Nash’s character that the Suns were willing to trade him to a division rival. I cannot remember when a NBA team has ever traded a player to another team within their division. In the NFL, the Eagles traded Donovan McNabb to Washington and the Patriots traded Drew Bledsoe to the Bills, within their division, but in both cases, both players had little left in the tank. Sure, Nash is no longer in his prime, but he can still run a team beautifully.

This trade obviously benefits Kobe Bryant. As an NBA fan, I always marvel at the difficult shots that Kobe is able to hit, with defenders draped all over him. But that’s just it: he takes so many difficult shots because it’s harder for him to get easy shots. Nash will help him get a lot of easy shots.

But I think this trade benefits Mike Brown most of all, because his offense scheme frankly sucks. Nash will come in and tweak and run the offense.

From the Washington Post:
Nash’s Phoenix teammate Jared Dudley tweeted that Nash “has not only been the best but the most unselfish player I ever played with. I only wish him the best. He deserves everything. Steve Nash has made many players millions. Only fitting to trade to a team that has a chance to win the [champion]ship and pay what he deserves.”

good pick up for LA, but OKC will have that bitter feeling of losing to the Heat, don't see this LA team as of NOW, beating them. If they get Howard, maybe. LA still has a horrid bench.

Semi-lost in the Nash news is that Phoenix got Goran Dragic back. He's no Steve Nash, but the kid can flat out play.

Phoenix signed Beasley as well.

yep, those are 2 good pick ups for them. They will be fighting for that 8th seed I think. Not sure if already posted, Lin signing 4 years with Houston, NYK lost Fields too. Knicks are going nowhere fast.

well old lions tend to win the poost season, however OKC are young experienced lions which makes them scarey. btw when on, no one has a good answer for durant. I have a feeling howard is next, yet if not, im totaly fine with that. Nash will keep kobe from fatiguing. keep zen boy bynum engaged, as well as pau if we dont move him for more depth. nash will be glue for this talent laden team. watch out. clips will be alot better too if they land ray allen.

:goodpost:

God I will be so conflicted if Hward goes to the Lakers.

^ Not yet, but talk about gamesmanship form Houston: they BACKLOADED the contract so that the Knicks will have to think long and hard about matching the offer. I think Amare's and Melo's contract are backloaded the same years that the Lin offer is, so if the Knicks DO decide to match, they will be in luxury tax territory those years.

Lin and Asik would be one heck of a grab.
Those two contracts combined will exceed the Rockets team salary last year.

yea, they over payed for both, but why not I guess if you can? They aren't much of a free agent destination.

Makes you wonder if they're expecting one of them to walk, or they have one heck of a plan to get out of those contracts by year 3.

Clipps resign Billups, and add Crawford. Apparently, they canceled the meeting with Allen, looks like it's b/w Bos and Miami now. Clipps look great on paper, but can they put it together?

dont believe all that. nash said it last week
Well, no. You might want to believe it. It was mentioned that when Kobe and Dwight last spoke, Kobe mentioned in conversation that it was still his team and that Dwight would be the 2nd or 3rd option on the team. Dwight was rubbed the wrong way after that chat, which is why lakers are not his first choice. But who knows, things can change.

Not sure, but I'd like to see what Nash still has left in him.
I'm beginning to think, this wasn't such a good deal. Time will tell.

Nash still has enough to run a team, and he shoots at a RIDICULOUS percentage, something like 40-50-90 (40 % from the three point line, 50 % from the field, and 90% from the line). Of course he will be a defensive liability against stud PGs like Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Deron Williams, Russell Westbrook, and Rajon Rondo.

If Steve can convince Grant Hill to come to the Lakers, that will be another bonus.

KIDD TO THE KNICKS!

LMFAO!

we can't even sign a 40 year old point guard that wanted to be here

trade dirk...blow it up...start over
