You guys keep saying these are 1/3 the price of Hot Toys' figures. That's true... Of HTs' 1:6 figures. At $85 a pop, these are more like 1/5 or 1/6 the price of the 1:4 figs from Hot Toys or Enterbay.

Right, that is all true, and if there was a 1/4 HT (or EB) Keaton Bats to compare it to, no doubt we'd be comparing 1/4 to 1/4, but there isn't....yet.

As it is we can only compare each company's attempt to capture the likeness and details of the character's look. I'm of the opinion that both are great, but in absolute terms (in my opinion again), HT is better with the caveat/handicap that it uses more varied materials and realism imitating features than the NECA version, which in turn cost more to produce, which in turn makes it more expensive. For that price, it damn well better be...um, better.

Others are impressed enough with the NECA offering to pick it up, and that's fine. If this NECA had been released first, before I saw the HT pictures, I probably would have picked it up. For me, the main question I ask myself when buying another figure version of a character I already have (in the same costume), on whatever scale, is not the price (within my budget anyway). The main question is "has the bar been raised?" So far, I think it has not.

Accesories looks good, but what I see on this picture (except the graplin gun and the batarang) ?

Im curious abot the hands and the painting of the accesories.

Only black looks not good, a dark metalic black looks cool.

I think the difference in shades of yellow between the symbol and belt are more accurate in the NECA version. As in the movie It was a bright yellow symbol and a dark yellow belt but Hot Toys version uses a similar colour for both and the oval of the symbol seems too large on the Hot Toys. So you are getting a more accurate symbol and belt, Larger figure , Stronger materials and a better cape (which wasn't hard!) for a lot less money.

Yeah I agree the Hot Toys belt was too much of a bright yellow...

Agreed. I have the HOT TOYS 89 Batman as I'm a huge fan of the Keaton Batman and it's a fantastic figure. That said NECA is seriously stepping up their game in every aspect. Their paint jobs although not perfect have gotten much better, the attention to deatil on the sculpts are incredible and for the size/price point they seem like a company on a mission to prove themselves worthy of the collecting communities attention. I'm totally digging their 1/4 line (purchased Cap, PO Keaton Batman and PO West Batman) and am  that they make the entire avengers line (...1/4 Hulk :thud:...).

Actually, the HT symbol isn't too large. Without whipping out all the lines and rules, you can see on the actual suit, that the symbol oval is slightly larger than the belt buckle, and about as big and wide as the exposed part of Keaton's face. On the NECA, the symbol actual looks slightly too small. But really, this is splitting hairs, both are "about" right.

You're right that the color of the belt of the HT production piece is off, which is weird, because they got the difference right on the prototype pics. NECA has so far got the belt color right on their proto also. We'll see when the production piece is released if they repeat HT's mistake.

The larger scale does add to the value in the sense that you technically get more figure for your money....and much less money than a HT or EB 1/4 figure. Which is great, if a 1/4 figure fits in to your collecting. Is there some kind of exclusive licensing restriction that prevents these companies from making the same figures on the same scale? NECA announces a 1/4 scale Keaton Bats, but not 1/6 scale. HT announced a 1/4 scale TDK-suit Bats, but not BB-suit, and the offering is flipped from EB. Kinda prevents a true apples-to-apples comparison.

Can't. Only 1/4 scale. Mattel & DC have those rights “@Darth_Chino: @NECA_TOYS are you planning on putting out batman in 7 inch?”

The size isn't really one of the things for my personal tastes that I like more about the NECA as im more of a 6/7 inch action figure collector. But as it definitely looks like NECA are not doing it smaller and this is better to me than the Hot Toys then I will be making this my second 1/4 figure in my collection along with NECAs Robocop!

This is from their twitter:

It's a damn shame too since Mattel has no intentions of actually making an 89 Batman figure. The best we will ever get from them is that repaint from DC Universe wave 10.

I think the head sculpt is great, needs a little widening that's all.. Even if they don't tweak it, I'm sure its not hard to mod it.

no, widening is not enough..
head is too long (too much space between the eyes and the mouth..)

So i really hope the tweaks will be made, otherwise i'll pass...

Nope, it is. Difabios photoshop looks perfect.

Looks great.... With the photoshop touches... Neca has confirmed on their twiiter that will be doing Villains and focusing on the movies first...

@NECA_TOYS Do you think that with all the batman figures now that we might see a 1/4 scale Heath Ledgar JOKER and maybe a TWO-FACE.

@AolEichhorn not interested in Two-Face but definitely planning on a Joker just not sure which one will be first yet.

Figure Showplace ‏@FigureShowplace

@NECA_TOYS Is there any interest in making a Bale &/or Arkham Batman to accompany Keaton & West?

@NECA_TOYS @figureshowplace would you just be planning on movie figs or expand to comics etc, a Killer Croc or Manbat would be cool

That sucks, but at the same time, I'm not planning to get many of these so no Nolan Two-Face is ok I guess, but it would have been great to see what NECA could do with it, Hot Toys effort was so far off from the movie, it would be nice to see an accurrate figure.
