I have a Slimer figure from NECA, one of his arms broke last year. It just fell... And it was on display only. Of course this is a 4+ year figure old (i dont remember the release date). My terror dogs are as good as new. My ghostbusters figures from mattel are fine, nothin broke or week ancles. But tey have only 2 years on display.
Neca does great figures. The paint and sculp are amazing

i dont think anyone is crapping on neca. reality is reality. everything man made and assembled has issues, and neca has come along way from where they started.

neca (particularly this year) has started to step up the articulation on their smaller figs and going out of the way to stop using simple cut joints and ball/peg assembles that just do not work with the sculpts they have.

as far as neca looking just as good or better then ht...i wouldn't blanket statement that out there. cap already has proven the limitations they will reach using the materials and sculpts they have too.

Still confused on the Release date.... ToyBiz says May... And Entertainment Earth says September, and Big Bad Toy Store says August...

from all my neca toys only 2 had joint problems, an Alien one and a Predator, the alien was fixed with hot water and I broke the predator's leg joint, but I Was able to fix it with a screw.

The issue here is that NECA will look just as good as the Hot Toys (Sometimes even Better in the case of the Predators in 1/4)
for a lot less, plus it will outlast hot toys,
Hot toys comes with a lot more accessories and more detailed sculpts and realistic looking materials,

I guess each company has its markets. But I really really hate people crapping on NECA only because they are cheaper. the Predators in 1/4 look a lot better than the Hot Toys ones, even if Hot toys are better made.

Really? If you think the NECA Keaton Batman looks just as good as the HT DX09 version, good for you. You'll be completely satisfied that you've got the best looking Keaton Batman and save a bunch of money.

I just don't see it. I am not crapping on NECA. I don't think it's an insult to say it looks good, but not HT DX09 level good.

Agreed. The hot toys Dx09 has one of if not the best likenesses ive ever seen.

That is why I think Toyfair was a huge anticlimax this year. Their Keaton looks great, but DX09 is so perfect on every way. It's just a bigger version.

If they announced a 1/4 Reeve though...

But then people would say that their 1/4 Reeve looks just like Hot Toys except it's sculpted in plastic. NECA wouldn't win.

I'm glad I look at things and appreciate them for what they are and don't have to worry about comparisons or "which is better and will last longer". The DX 09 had it's day of hype and anticipation, that's over now. While I still enjoy it, this NECA 1/4 figure is fresh and a change of pace. Something I DON'T have.

DX 09 Batman is a fantastic 12" collectible high end figure, probably the best figure I own in my collection. It was the first real Batman 1989 figure since Kenner's great work back in 1990. That's roughly 22 years since Hot Toys put out their Batman figure a year ago. It was/is thrilling and new, a great representation of the Keaton Batman. The likeness is perfect, arguably the best Hot Toys has done and it has, few, few problems (PERS panel, rubber suit, etc.) I still get a kick out of looking at it and admiring it on my shelf.

This NECA 1/4 looks to be a fantastic 18" collectible retail figure that's priced really, really well. The Keaton mouth is dead on, only issue it has really is the elongated face/head which has the possibility of being tweaked and looking just as good as Hot Toys' go at the character. Hell, from what I see, I'd say NECA's body sculpt from the neck down is JUST as good if not better than Hot Toys', save for maybe the belt. Hot Toys might be a little too puffy and muscular due to the rubber suit and not as lean as it should be like NECA's.

That's where it ends really. They're both great for what they are, I'm not going to knock either one and I definitely plan on having the NECA version in the same room as my Hot Toys. I'll have em both whether it's $230 or 85 bucks, rubber or plastic.

Now if Hot Toys put out a 1/4 '89 Batman or put out an $85 '89 Batman figure out at retail, then I'd change my tune.

NECA didn't impress me much either.

It doesn't help when there's not much in the way of interviews about the license or what's next. Almost as annoying as Sideshow getting the DC license, showing comic specific concept art, then releasing their own version anyway, which needs a lot of work per figure.

Those initial pics of modern/golden age Batman and Superman...where the hell are they?

God, I hope so. Speaking o'which, where has Jyecat been? He used to be everywhere; now, I barely see him.

I plan on getting the hot Toys later down the road, so I can do an actual side by side pics... I can't wait to see more pics... It would be really sweet if Hot Toys did do an 1/4 Batman.... I do know we will be getting an 1/4 Returns though... But who knows when...

Great work by NECA.
1/4 size that looks great for $85 !

Sure the Hot Toys one was better but it was $250+
A !/4 Hot Toys version would most likely be close to $500

First post here, fellas ... Go easy on me. This is a loaded post with multiple questions, that I would be extremely grateful if you guys could answer haha

Anyhow, this NECA '89 Batman inspired me to sign up to the boards. I grew up with this film, wore out the VHS tape back in the day between the ages of 4 - 6 years old. "Can't watch a Warner Bros movie, without a Warner Bros ball cap !!!"

Anyhow, was so pumped a year ago when the Hot Toys Michael Keaton Batman came out. It looked just like my favorite incarnation of the character. It HAD to be mine. Then I saw the price, and found out the material wears away being actual rubber and I was immediately turned off. Why couldn't they just make it a high grade plastic? It won't disintegrate over time, and it would justify the actual price. $250 + for a figure that falls apart is ABSURD.

So glad to see such a high quality piece is coming out, at a larger size, for a GREAT price, and is obviously much more durable. Will most likely be easier for us to get our hands on too.

But I had a question to you guys. Since Mattel failed to act on a 1/4th figure or a 7 inch figure ... do you think we will see NECA eventually release this in that scale? Same way they did Robocop, Scarface, and the remake of Friday the 13th Jason?

Also, I've seen word of NECA having produced a 1/4th scale Man of Steel that they weren't able to show at Toy Fair? If this is true is it possible NECA will be able to produce 1/4th scale figures for Nolan's TDK trilogy?

I would die a happy man if NECA made high end figures at that scale of B89 Nicholson Joker, BEGINS Batman, TDK Batman, TDK Ledger Joker, and TDK Rises Bane

I would totally be content never having to buy another collectible ever again.

I mean if they're able to procure the rights to make 1/4th scale figures for Avengers and Batman products, which I thought were locked down by Hasbro and Mattel respectably, they should be able to produce the Nolan stuff at that scale. If it is true we're getting a 1/4th Man of Steel that is

The 60's Batman and B89 Keaton Batman are must copps for me. Hopefully the final product will be tweaked to look like DiFabio's much more accurate face. The sculpt needs to be condensed at the nose and chin to truly look exactly like Keaton in the costume.

There is this screen shot from the movie I've seen that looks just like DiFabio's update. A MUCH better sculpt with those updates.

They could produce a 7" version, but I don't think they've said anything on the subject. I thought I heard that they said they could produce stuff from the Nolan films, but don't quote me on that. With that being said, I must address your concerns about the HT 89 Batman. The issues have been few and far between with that figure, and, other than one to two cases that I've seen on these boards, they're pretty much nonexistent. I think that they key thing to remember is that, like DiFabio said, nothing lasts forever, that doesn't mean that the HT 89 Batman is going to rot after a year or two, it just means it probably won't be around until you're 90.:lol I know this is the NECA thread, and I don't want to high jack it, but I still believe that the HT 89 Batman is the definitive 1:6th scale collectible from that film, and, if you ever get the chance, I highly recommend picking it up.

Speaking of the NECA, you'll be happy to know that the sculptor replied to DiFabio's changes, and said that he'll tweak the figure to get it closer to where it should be, but that he had to make some compromises in order to get it out in time for the Toy Fair. Welcome to the forums, man!:hi5:

Thanks for the warm welcome, and the tremendous dropping of knowledge. Glad to hear the sculptor said he was going to change it up.

I'd love it if NECA confirmed if they would make stuff from the Nolan films as well. The Nolan films and B89 are some of my favorite movies of all-time.

Did anyone confirm if NECA made a 1/4th Man of Steel figure, too? Mattel has been tanking their license by not making figures based off Keaton's Batman and Reeve's Superman. I hope NECA capitalizes on the opportunities w/ the 1/4th scale stuff.

We'd need a Nicholson Joker to go with the Batman, too. This is probably the most excited I've been for a toy since I was a child. haha

NECA did, in fact, make a Man of Steel Superman, but they said that they were waiting until they got the go ahead to show it off. So, I'm guessing that means that it's already finished and we should be seeing it sometime in the near future.

Can't wait for this figure... But could someone seriously answer when this figure is coming out as I have now seen three different months for this figure...

Man, I'd be all over a 7" Keaton Batman. That is literally one of the last figures on my "DREAM toys of all time" list. Yes, I have the Hot Toys figure, but a more durable action figure would be really awesome too.

That's really great that the sculptor is gonna tweak it to be more accurate. Maybe those NECA guys aren't so bad after all! ;)
