NECA 1/4 scale predator

Someone mentioned on another forum that there are a select group of 125 or so TRUs that are designated as special "collector" stores that will carry everything. I think this may explain why Shocker Toys Maxx series was reported to have been found at TRU a year or two ago but never showed up at any TRUs I go to in PA. I heard from one person who found 1/4 Predator at their TRU that their TRU also carried the Maxx figures. So it may be possible this Predator only ships to that select group of TRUs.

Due to that theory, I just ordered the 3 from toysrus.com. $220 shipped seems like a good enough deal. However, 5,000 of EACH sounds like a VERY high run with the toy market in the depressed state that it's been in. At least one or two of the variants will probably end up at discounted prices in the future.

What depressed state ? If there's one thing selling it's toys ! HT are selling like crazy even in the secondary market and at high prices.

Got my 3 from TRU! I'm happy. So far I took out the unmasked, closed mouth one. I have a rip in the netting over the right chest, but I can cover it with some bones anyways. All in all, I would assume Predators rip their netting in real life too.

Only other issue is the hoses were unglued in some parts. Very easy fix.

The Good: Overall the figure is absolutely incredible. The sculpt is spot on and very impressive in person. I can easily see people thinking this cost more than my Hot Toys figures (which are great in their own way). The paint could be a bit better but for $70, this thing would be a steal if it came unpainted and unassembled. An absolute must for any Predator fan.

The Crazy: I got home tonight to find my BIG box from TRU. I had ordered one open mouth Predator, but inside the box was two closed mouth Predators. Neither is the version I want, but still, a free $70 figure!

Anybody with a open mouth Predator want to swap heads with a closed mouth head?

I still can't grasp why its hard to sell the idea to get p2 done in 19 inches like you guys did with p1. It's pretty much a given that it will sell just as well as the p1 and everyone knows that... So with that, git 'er done

I don't think that is a given at all. I doubt many people will be buying three versions of P2, plus the P1 is the iconic character for the series. To make matters worse, the P2 has more articulation, so the figure may cost more to produce at 1/4 scale than the P1.

I just noticed that Toys R Us hasn't charged me yet and they arrived. I will monitor it and call them if they don't charge because I already got them.

Because 80% of the world thinks Predator 2 is a colossal piece of ____. Aside from fans, people ____ing HATE it.

And really, it's not a good movie...bad acting, bad characters, ____ty writing.....but it's fun. And I, as a fan, enjoy it.

A P2 wont sell to the masses. And that's what needs to happen. Predator will, because it's a popular movie, that people enjoy. But not Predator 2.

He was so close to getting all 3 from a pre-order at a good price...

But I think he said the seller ended up having to charge extra for all 3, despite the pre-order price.

So he left it...

Not heard from him this week. I think he said he was going on an epic journey to find his Preds.

Amazon's got 8 to 13 sellers offering the figures right now and there are 50 on eBay so they're hardly sold out. With 5,000 each made, I'm sure BBTS and others will be able to restock. And I would expect in another year that eBay prices could be under retail and Amazon, TRU or other stores may have sales on them.

When a toy is extremely limited prices are high, sure. The Hot Toys Guardian Predator was limited to what, 500-1000? I don't think Sideshow makes more than 1000 of most of their figures and statues anymore. A few years ago it was a lot more than that. And at retail stores can't sell enough product anymore to even make room to get new releases on the shelf. 15,000 combined of these seems like a production run from the glory days of the early 2000s but it'd be great if they can move all those.

The reason I asked about Centurion was because he had pre-ordered his from the same place I did, when I heard they might not get them I jumped ship and ordered from CSC instead but he stuck with his order.

Then they shot up the price on him and that's the last I heard about it.

I hope he got his or is successful in getting them.
