NECA 18" ALIEN - stiffness and leg problems with the figure??

It is re-assuring to know that due to it's construction you don't have to worry about any possible degradation of rubber as well. For the money it's hard to beat

Got mine today. Took it out of the box, go to turn the head and ...SNAP! The piece of plastic that holds the metal pin between the neck and the head literally shattered. I'm so pissed at this thing. On one hand, it's beautiful to look at, on the other hand, it's built like a piece of s>>T. Don't know if I should return it or try to repair it as it was their last one.

yea everybody who has this alien has some problem with it, the head on mine is pretty sturdy but the right knee decided to stop bending, tried plyers,a hammer, blow dryer, everything nothing make it looser, its just stuck, so it limits his poses.

Well, luckily I called back and spoke with a different salesperson. They checked the computer and found one more in their backroom, so they'll let me exchange it. I love Aliens, and I really want this figure as it's frickin huge and looks awesome. I just hope the one I get tomorrow won't break when I take it out of the box! Me thinks Neca needs a new factory to produce their toys because they make great looking figures that seem to have joints made of eggshells.

I live in the Netherlands, so it was a bit harder for me to get this figure. And then my girlfriend surprised me by ordering it, she rocks.

Unfortunately, mine has a ton of QC issues. Right out of the package, the left arm and leg weren't attached properly, and ALL the joints were stuck. No biggie, put it on the shelf above the heater and it was fixed within minutes. But then I noticed the rest. I have the following QC issues:

-Left lower leg is bend inwards
-Left ankle joint is barely attached, though still surprisingly sturdy
-The dome is not properly closed on one side, leaving the veins pretty damn obvious
-There's a smudge of (I think) glue ontop of the dome, right behind the 'face'
-Metal pin of the right kneejoint just snapped when I wanted to pose it (still stands though, thankfully)

And the worst of all:
-The torso balljoint is appearantly glued shut, and I can't move it. Which normally wouldn't have been a problem, except that the torso is OUT OF ALLIGNMENT WITH THE LOWER BODY, AAAAARGH.

This really pisses me off, it's an AWESOME figure and I am simply in love with the sculpt, paint and the general look, but the QC issues...The hell happened here? And I thought that the loose joints of my Requiem warrior were bad!

The leg is slightly bent on all the figures I own, both 9" and 21".
However, having straightened out the bent head of my 9" Aliens warrior, I'm fairly certain the same can be done to the Giger Alien's leg.
As for the stuck torso, try pouring really hot water over it, might help get it un-stuck.

Got my replacement today and NO PROBLEMS!!!! Everything works, including the ankle joints. Right leg is slightly bent, but after the first one I got, I'll take this! Anyway, here's a few pics:

Congrats ! looks great, you got one with frosted dome, it looks way better then the clear domed ones.

I got mine at Spencer's. Basically, an adult novelty/giftshop. They are the only place that carries Neca products in my town, unfortunately, they still don't have the 9" Alien Warriors I want to buy them so bad, but want to be able to inspect the paint job before buying.

Try cornerstore, they have great customer service, when I asked them they sent me one of each of the Aliens warriors. I'm sure that if they have a cloudy domed Giger Alien, they'll send it to ya.

Ditto! I didn't realize how cool the dome looks. I already have one in the box and ahem another opened and uh trying to sell... I would like to have the 2nd version instead of the original. But no stores around me carry the 2nd variant. And I can't purchase another one....

That looks a lot better than the cloudy domed one I saw in Spencer's (although they had it displayed near some blacklight stuff and it gave the dome a faint purple glow that probably threw off its appearance.

I've been looking at this figure in stores and it looks like the dome is getting more and more fogged up. The pics here look really nice and for me as the sculptor of this piece the more I can't see of the China paint job under the dome the better. I wish now I would have sculpted in the detail because I was scared China would do just what they did with the paint. As a run of a figure goes by we have noticed things get darker and it looks like the dome is clouded up more and more with I like due to the pore paint job underneath.
