If you do get it make sure it is the new one with the fogged dome look. I can't really stand the first run and still wish the secound run was better but it's way better than the first run. You can't beat 40 dollars and heck I've seen the 9 inch one for 13 dollars. The articulation on this new one is way better too. I get the feeling you might be a McFarlane fan boy and if thats the case most of the figures you love were sculpted by guess who? Those Preds you love from McFarlane were also done by guess who? NECA guys thats who. Some won't like our stuff which is fine but you are only screwing yourself if you don't like the company because that company is doing the things McFarlane use to do and that ticks you off. They love their sports stuff over there and they do great stuff with it. One day I bet they will get back to doing the things that made them in the first place. If not others will come in and do it and lets hope they can make your day like McFarlane does.
Like I said you have many chooses now days. Now get off your butt and get the NECA FIGURE NOW. LOL.

Hey now. I have more NECAs then McFs, easily. I think they get too much flack now. I havent bought any NECAs in a while because they havent made anything that gets my intrest. And I think the last McF figure I bought was the MM6 Queen 2 christmases ago. I'm waiting for that Machette....and also the fact that there is NO place for me to go to get any news what so ever.

I love NECA. I love their AvP-R stuff....but regardless of all that, I still find the McF Alien to be the coolest looking of them all. My dislike for the NECA one isnt me being a loyal fanboy, its just me not liking some of the elements of the figure. I dont even like the Medi Alien because of that mouth. Same with that new Alien. IThe proto looked fantastic, but the paint almost ruins it. Good thing I can paint now...

Like I said, this could all change. I'm not a fanboy, but I'm not going to just watch people attack the company that got me started in this whole thing.

The funy thing here is that the NECA Alien dome is way closer to the real one than the McFarlane on is by a long shot. If you tell me different you don't know what you are saying after all I sculpted both domes and know which one looks most like the movie. CP loves the McFarlane Alien and that is fine. I would say most of us die hard Alien fans would go for what I did on the new Alien figure. I rather have something that looks like master artist Giger than comic book artist Todd McFarlanes comic book take on Gigers work. Funny thing too is there are details I never got too on the McFarlane piece and it could have made it look more finished. My friend Craig Cambell remade the legs and told me he didn't give a ^^^^ about Alien and just made most of the details up. I would say if you are a big Alien fan that you would find this to be an insult. It is a cool figure but it's more like what HT's is doing and thats fine if you like that kind of take. I for one am looking forward to the HT's take on Alien. I know they will not do a movie accurate Alien but I bet it will be cool none the less. With others doing more accurate takes maybe artist takes on this figure are OK. I for one am happy as hell that McFarlane did what he did with the Aliens and Predators because now I can come in and do it the way I would like to see it done as I'm a huge fan of this stuff. The great thing is if you are a fan you are getting lots of great stuff to choose from now days.

I did this for fun when I first got my NECA Alien...

I like the skinnyness, the dome, and the extra Jaw from the McF, but the legs, hands, and mouth are better on the NECA.

Go ahead and just have both. It will only cost you about 14 dollars. I will say I did a better job on the McF's skike thing under the head and it ticks me off I rushed that part. China made the dome too round in the front from a side view but straite on the NECA dome sape is much better. I will say the slant on the older figure is better in the front from the site. I do like the fierce look the the old Alien has but still it's more like a comic book version. You can't go wrong just getting both. I will say the slant on the 18inch is better than the slant on the 9 inch Alien.

Most people use to love McFarlane and maybe you should think why do people get on their case. They are nothing like the great company from years past. If you are a sports fan they're a dream come true company. They have too many lines they've had to dump simply because the retailers won't take the stuff. I got my start there and hope they will come to know what fans want. If they don't you'll see more people get dumped out of their jobs. Now that really sucks doesn't it. I for one am very greatful Todd came around and allowed dorks like me to want to get into sculpting such fan stuff. Like it or not Todd was the guy that gave grownups like me the cool ass figure I would buy and not some crappy kid version of a figure like Terminator or Alien. Both being rated R and kids shouldn't be seeing anyway.

I cant find either around here LOL.

Be careful what you get. I just went out tonight and found the 9 incher at Hastings. I just cut it out of the package and I'm not a happy camper. I can see why you don't like the dome. It's different from my test shot China sent us that really ticks me of. The domes shape is rounder and has a funny dent right behind the skull and I've seen this from pics of guys pieces on here. The right leg is bent because it wasn't put in the package properly. One thing the small test shot has that I love is the lower jaw is more forward the way it should be but this one I just bought is like the 18incher and that pisses me off. China always sends us their best work to get us to say yes and ship it. Too many times the piece's that hit the selves are something different. There are other things wrong with this piece I bought tonight but it's not that big of a thing. We do our best and Randy sometimes just want to throw his hands up in the air. I can remember being at McFarlane and the same crap happened there all the time too.

Glad to know we agree on that. But, no actually, they havent sold out because they havent even came here! All my specialty stores have closed, TRU only got those Predaliens in, ugh. In fact, I dont even know what figures are out. I just saw that McF released that Gutiar Hero crap, and COD line, since I was banned from that godawful Forum, I have no idea whats news.

Care to tell me?

That must really suck to see the great work you have done be hurt by manufacturing errors.

I did notice that aside from having a clear dome, the first run figure had a much nicer paint job and all-around better quality than the later foggy dome ones did. My case of foggy dome ones had much sloppier paint jobs, plastic deformation, and problems where it looks like the plastic didn't set in the mold correctly. All of my clear dome ones, (well aside from the dome) were pretty much perfect.

Oh well, even with these problems, this is the best Alien we have ever gotten, so defects or not, I'm glad I have 'em! :D

The stiffness and difficulty in getting the legs on this figure is not exaggerated at all. It took a long while before i was able to get the legs in the leg sockets. Once on, though the hip joint on the left leg snapped off. The whole leg came off. Unbelievable. It was a huge disappointment. The sculpt is amazing and I wanted to pose the figure and just leave it but with no luck. The ankle and knee joints are also incredibly stiff as well and posing is near impossible for the lower half of the figure. The arms joints on the other hand are smooth and without trouble. Im very very disappointed that the leg snapped off. I don't think i will bother buying another one though. I think im just going to glue it back on and hope it stays in place. :(:banghead:pow

Thought I'd share some pics of the WIP sculpt of Kyle's alien and some pics of the prototype as well he shared with me a while ago. (hope you don't mind Kyle!)
Again, they're very cool insights into the process and Kyle's way of working.

I think what you're seeing is that the dome is kinda floating on top of the head, not really well placed. I can't really tell the shape from the pics.

Am still really pleased with mine and it looks great standing next to my Sota Pumpkinhead.
Those two pretty much tower every everything elese in my collection atm

BRILLIANT figure.
I absolutely love mine.

I can honestly say, I don't see it being topped by anyone else. Not even Hot Toys.

I can't see Hot Toys beating it either to be honest. They'll probabaly go with an "artistic" interpretation. I'm betting it will look substantially like the statue they released recently. Then again they may just surprise us......
