I'm with A-Dev...I definitely would have preferred the translucent plastic they used on Dutch for the Marines.

And, note to anyone doing any customizing...UFC action figures are too big to use. They say they're 7 inches, but they're really bigger and don't work.

Watching the theatrical version of Aliens at the moment. It amazes me all the stuff that was added in the SE that I actually forgot wasn't part of the theatrical. I definitely prefer the SE for that added emotional oomph you get with the Ripley daughter stuff and seeing the colony before the Alien infestation.

Also just wondering what Cameron was aiming for with the audience perception of Hicks in the parts on the APC before they land on LV-426 - he's just staring at Ripley the whole time. Made him look a bit stalkery.

Just after they first take their seats on the APC, there's a few shots of him looking at her and a reaction shot of her noticing it and being uncomfortable about it

Huh. Even the mouse false alarm and Ripley pausing outside the main complex (prompting Hicks to ask if she was alright) aren't in the theatrical.

Took some screen caps from Aliens there for reference purposes. Will be sculpting a new base for the warrior figures for them to hide in the walls. I noticed throughout the hive there are all different parys of the warrior suit pieces such as tail etc so will incorporate that and the poor colonist you see in my other screen cap.

Would anyone be interested in a base, based on this scene?

Yes, please. I much prefer the painting style done on the Dutch figures as well. I've actually purchased six sets of Aliens Series 1 from several different online retailers*, and only about 1/2 of my Marines are actually 'useable'. (Either botched paint apps or botched inward knee-joints...or both.) It's a good thing I wanted the parts...

Sheesh. A odd sort of 'investment', that's for sure.

*Oddly, all of the ones I got that were pretty darn good came from the Big Bad Toy Store. Two separate orders, one collector grade, one standard. Coincidence?

******* it. Trying to get the helmet off an old McFarlane Hicks has proven an exercise in frustration. I've practically destroyed it in the attempt. I'm not sure if it'll even be usable even if I manage to get it off.

Nnnope. Its ruined. Torn and misshapen in the attempt. Bits broke off. Can't use it.

I'd love to say yes, and I know I'm the one who mentioned it in the first place but I'm not sure I could afford it at the moment. Sorta maxed out.

I love the reversal of roles Burke and Gorman have. Gorman ****s up in the initial battle with the Aliens and Burke has to haul him off Ripley who's trying to drive the APC to the marines' rescue. Then later Burke reveals himself to be a treacherous sort and Gorman comes good going back to help Vasquez. You really wish he could have made it.

Hell yeah! I've been a closet Gorman fan a long time. The man was a **** up with too little experience for his assigned task, but he was no wuss. He froze up when it came time to make decisions, but when it came time to act, even though he only had a small sidearm, he was firing that VP at oncoming warriors in Ops without hesitation. He scooped up and put a gun on Gorman without hesitation when revealed to be a scumbag. Often missed in the action when newt and Ripley were attacked by Burke's facehuggers was that Gorman and Vaz got hands on with the facehugger to pull it off Ripley! Of course when it came time to go back for one of his 'men', again he never hesitated.

One can argue he 'grew' as a character. I personally think his skill were simply mis-assigned. He shoulda been a grunt and was not cut out for decision making. Too confident combined with no experience was his downfall as a leader. But as a follower he was a chiseled killing machine like any good marine! (seriously, watch the 'getting dressed' scenes. He had an freaking 8 pack!).

yesterday I'd have said "translucent plastic for everyone!" without hesitation. Today I saw the Rambo figure with translucent plastic. For some reason it didnt work in my opinion. I guess, like paint, it all depends on the shade used. Could be hit or miss either way.

But again...(being wishy washy)...Id rather they 'try' translucent plastic molding and risk the consequences.

I don't know. It seems like you lose detail when it's done that way. I can understand where you're coming from since they have paint issues, but I wish they could paint them well, then they'd look even better imo.

His redemption begins when he tries to apologise to Ripley but she cuts him off. I wonder what he'd have said.

I actually only noticed in tonights viewing that Gorman was there in the Facehugger attack scene in the med-lab. The camera sorta focuses on Hicks and Ripley and of the others only Vasquez and Hudson get their own shots in that scene but sure enough he was there lending a hand.

Then it was interesting at Burke's 'trial' the way Gorman takes a back seat. He really seems to have relinquished command to Hicks. Makes you wonder what might have been said between them about that, that Hicks was now running the show. The role swap seemed to suit the situation and Gorman seemed OK with it. If only he'd had a pulse rifle he could have kicked some ***.

Haven't seen that one but the Dutch figure from series 9 Predator with the nude torso looks fantastic. Must take a comparison shot of him compared to Hicks. Its night & day difference IMO.

NECA for Alien variants please consider one that still has the membranes or lips or whatever covering the teeth. Same goes for the '79 Alien and the dog alien. To my knowledge that has never been recreated in a toy before. Not even sure if its been done on statues/PFs etc since it isn't the most obvious way to depict the alien. But since NECA loves variants there's a real opportunity here.
