Well, the articulation is not really designed to achieve a 90 degree bend... I mean, it could in theory I guess, but the sculpt of the pelvis prevents it.

This is the most I could get out of that articulation:

Its the pleats.

Ah, ok, I understand.
It seems you suffered the sadly usual "stuck-joint-syndrome"... whenever you get a NECA figure, the first thing you have to do is gingerly test every articulation. If you find even the slightest resistance, stop immediately moving that joint and proceed to dunk it in hot water to loosen it up. The once again start testing its range of movement with the utmost care.
Sucks, but that's the way it is.

I broke two of the old Giger Alien figures and about three Predators before I decided not to chance it with stiff articulations.

Incidentally, I had the same problem with McFarlane's AvP figures. They all came with stuck joints and many broke.

Thanks abake for your tips bro.You making feel real comfortable on purchasing future alien figures. When I buy figures I always keep my hopes low on QC.I try not to expect too much especially for the prices for some of these Necas. And if anything does happen i can always go back and return it for another. So I returned my big chap today and grabbed another along with the genocide 2 pack.Wish me luck and I will totally try the hot water method if there is the stuck-joint-syndrome

Well.I was extremely careful.I did the hot water method and slowly loosened the tight joints and still snapped!.WTF IS THIS HORSE CRAP!.I moved everything as slowly and gentle as I can any more gentle Then I really cant move the joints.Still snapped.Wow this is making me really nervous going into collecting neca.I havent opened my big chap yet and to be honest i am afraid to.I am a collector who keeps certain figures in box and open and pose other figures. So with these aliens i want to open them up and do some cool pose. But no I get this crap.43 dollars and now a few bucks of gas wasted.Sigh.I did everything I could to becareful.damn you neca!now i am going back to my comic shop to get a refund on this junk.Still dont know what i am going to do with big chap.I have pre ordered the dog alien and soon the power loader.but my god I am so afraid now. These aliens are like freaking made out of glass china or something.

The problem with these new ones is you get no resistance, the pegs are too brittle to even give you notice--at least that was my experience with the feet of both of mine. I've gotten pretty good at carefully testing and using hot water to free joints, DCC's Arkham line has been good practice, but these new xeno's are fragile on a whole new level. So you can either not try to move them I guess, glue 'em back together, or keep exchanging them until you find a non-defective one. I'm trying for the 3rd option but it gets tough when the retailer stops taking exchanges because they've had too many already, and customer service doesn't respond. I love NECA's products, I just really feel screwed on this one.

This is becoming a problem , big time.I have not had issues but i am not bend them to much.I would asume everyone that is breaking them are trying to get as much pose possible.I moved the legs and head around but thats about it.Are the broken ones because of max bending? Expect the big chap

My 79 Alien is all wonky and the joints are extremely loose. A total waste of £15+ NECA should reimburse us all!!!

I only got as far as testing mine to make sure there no stuck joints and nothing snapped off immediately, so I wouldn't say I pushed the articulation to the limits. All of my joints seemed fine, but with the feet, like I said--no warning or sign of resistance, just immediate snappage as soon as I tried to get any movement out of them.

**** sake. What good is super-articulation if you can't even use it. Might aswell go back to McFarlane-type preposing.

perfectly said right there^.well i am going to open my 79 alien and this time im gonna submerge this bich and move his articulation as he is kept under the water.LOL.hopefully this 2nd big chap wont fail me.*knock on wood*

No interest going deep in this line, but had considered a couple of black xenos…but reading this thread and others like it, sounds like it may be more trouble than it's worth…really starting to look like a gamble.

My other issue is articulation…the Bandai AVP version is in decent scale with 6" figures and can do incredible crouching poses with great range of movement on the head…but higher cost aside, but I'm not sold on the sculpt or the character version.

For all their POA the NECA xenos seem a touch limited…especially if they break so easily. Guess there's only one way to find out. :dunno

Well after extra extra extra careful and fingers being wrinkly from being in the water for so long.Big chap is awesome!.Love this guy.His ankle is still really tight so I wont mess with it too much but all the other joints loosened up more especially the hip area..Love the glossy wet look and will continue going into this line and of course with extra precaution from now on.Here is a shot of chap about to jump on spidey

I like NECA, too, but I'm having a tougher and tougher time lately. This was last night... I'd been saving a couple boxed Xenos, including the Genocide set, for a slow night. I opened three figures last night, and every single one of them broke immediately:

One broke at the hip, one at the waist, and one at the neck. I bought them ages ago, so there's no change of bringing them back to the store for a return. This sucks.

lol was scrolling through some pages and saw this poor guy posted these pics up.just like mine with the genocide pack

Vintij, I've got two of those guys opened with no issues. It wasn't til the aliens warrior version that encountered problems.

Edit: actually one of them is from the pred/alien 2 pack, but still both are good
Cheers for the input mate! :duff

Sadly the spectre of poor QC and bad paint looms as a shadow over every exciting NECA announcement/reveal. Its a real pity.
Yeah, I've gathered as much over the years having read up on NECA stuff generally. :(

Their figures look sofaking good though. :lol
