I don't know about those lips...

If they were more silver/white/translucent in color, it would work - as was the case with the Rambaldi head:

But fleshy brown-ish is off-putting, and they simply look too big. Here's a pic of Leigh's work from the RPF, and I think it's a much better approach:

oh boy ! that's looks even weirder with the open mouth :horror
i might have to reconsider my pre-order.i think i have to take a look at it in person first.
Platypus+Alien =Plalien :(

Series 6 was listed at SDCC with a release date of October. Which means November for most retailers I imagine.

Thanks! It's a must-buy for me.

It's a little puzzling that people who love Alien and Aliens don't love Alien Isolation. It's truly frightening, like the movies.

My jumpsuit Ripley arrived today. A very good figure. The costume is very well sculpted and the likeness itself is pretty half decent. Here are a few pictures :

I hope that you can tilt the head back on the isolation alien. Most of the time you see the Alien hunched over with its head back and im hoping to replicate that pose when I get it.

Although I respect the developers for attempting something different with the game (i.e. no guns, no swarms of aliens ala Aliens), I found the depiction of the alien in Isolation to be entirely at odds with the original Giger creature. I mean, the thing stomps around like a hyperactive Raptor, making huge amounts of noise in air vents and jumping out at the player like a cheap carnival trick. I understand the game required an alien that would be much more mobile and active than the largely static Giger monster, but in making that (major) concession the game misunderstands the tone and mood of the original film. The original Giger alien did the exact opposite of every monster in the history of the movies: it was slow, poised, studied and elegant, and was threatening in a deeply unsettling sexualized manner. Alien: Isolation observes none of this, and even if this is largely due to the demands of game dynamics, it's less Alien: Isolation and more Alien Resurrection: Isolation - the alien is a slobbering, growling, stomping monster with no subtlety or suggestiveness at all.

I also think the this new NECA Alien is wrong-headed in approach. The original Rambaldi mechanized head was used explicitly for extreme close-ups in Alien, and strictly via quick cuts (i.e. the killing of Brett, and later Parker). Indeed, the lips extracted in very tightly framed shots that only showed the mouth; seeing these oversize lips on a full-size model looks comical - because they were never intended to be seen like that. I think NECA have mistakenly translated what was clearly a very specific mechanized special effect that was carefully confined to quick edits onscreen to a general model, and it looks rather ridiculous as a result.

I think that's a rather good post^

I've not played the game but I believe every word said here and would buy this chap a pint.

As regards the figures in the latest wave - Ripley is not the best likeness to be honest but the quality is certainly a step up from previous waves.

Alien Isolation was my favorite game in a long time. wasn't perfect but its the closest experience you can get to the original movie.they totally captured that claustrophobic feeling.
especially the
Derelict part
, it was fu..n awesome.i think it was a good idea to change the Alien design ,it would've looked less frightening with the original design and that slow movement.
Can't wait for the next Alien game from Creative Assembly, hope they learned from their mistakes.
if you haven't played it you definitely need to pick it up.
if this doesn't scare the sh.t out of you i don't know what is.playing it in pitch dark and with a headphone ......:horror

I somewhat agree with you on the "raptor" part, but I think in terms of design and actions it is much better than what alien resurrection did. They needed to make the alien faster if it was going to be a threat and scary and when its not chasing you it is slowly stalking. it may not be exact to the Alien from the first movie but it gets the job done well. The real praise for the game comes from the art direction in the ship and the way it makes you feel like you are exploring the Nostromo. I do agree that the Alien should have been more suggestive and subtle, but it feels like they were going for the way they acted in aliens.

Also with the Neca head dilemma, The Rambaldi head was used for more than just close up scenes. It was also used for the scene inside the escape pod and when it is approaching Lambert. In the scene where it is approaching Lambert you can see the lips out like they are on the new figure. I think the main issue everyone is having with the lips may be the paint. I think of they were painted darker less people may have a problem with them. alien4.jpg
