Got mine today - customs of 33euro - and I can see what VLAGAS is talking about. Only by having the two side by side can you tell a difference. I can understand why people who may have ordered just the grey version from him would be confused.

Yeah my grey variant wasn't as grey as I thought and I had to check the ups barcode on the bottom of the package and they were different.

Weyland Yutani Commando - stellar figure. A real beaut. No complaints whatsoever and what a unique figure to add to the Alien collection, thanks NECA for making this one.

Alien 3 Ripley - ........nnnehhhhh....IMO the weakest of the Ripley's we've gotten so far and for all the reasons I've mentioned when I was just going on pics. Her proportions aren't the same as the other Ripleys - her head is smaller and her crotch is a little higher making her legs look longer and the tiny head makes her arms and her body look too long.
Likeness isn't great but it never was on the other Ripleys either.
Hair is painted too dark and one of my figures has shiny indentations in the head seemingly caused by the packaging. The same figure also has weird lines on one side of her face that look like scars - they definitely aren't meant to be there. Only noticeable on close inspection though. Lastly this one is also a bit more red-faced than my other one.
Bald characters, more than any others, never look good with ball-joint heads and this is no exception but there really was no alternative as her Alien 3 outfit prohibits putting a joint at the base of the neck - not that they would have done this anyway since the other Ripley figures have all had ball-joint heads.
On the plus side the outfit is well sculpted and it's great that they offered a jacketless option.

Seeing all these Ripleys together is making me ponder whether I should get the Resurrection version for mere completist reasons, I dunno, maybe.

Also after this grey variant and seeing the below custom from jaklyn I'm not sure I ever need to see a final version of Neca's molten Lead dog.

Here's Neca's:

Hard to compare really...

Seems worth sculpting a new head for it at least. They sculpted a new head for the mud-covered Dutch from Predator when they knew a simple repaint wouldn't quite cut it.

Well my series 8 Ripley, Weland Yutani Commando, Dog Alien, Dog Alien Grey Variant 1/4 scale Aliens warrior turned up today, Yayyy! And all of them have QC issues, Boooo!

Ripley has one eye so poorly painted that she looks like she's got a cross-eyed shiner! The Weland Yutani has no eyballs, well he does but they're on his eyelids and brow! The Brown Dog Alien's head and dome is not glued correctly, so half of the structure of the head is hanging off. The grey Alien's torso is not properly connected to the body and there's a nice line of glue running down the left hand side of his dome! And the 1/4 scale Aliens warrior has really sloppily painted teeth (lost of black) and the jaw is very loose as there appears to be piece of the jaw on left hand side that wasn't moulded correctly and is short! So they're going back, I don't know whether to bother getting them replaced or just give up on NECA completely?

You are right. They need to do more than just to a highly glossed silver paint job to make it a true variation. Have the skin peeling off and have some parts of the creature already beginning to melt off would make it more unique.
i always thought that those were just layers of liquid metal. he cleaned his face and didn't have any damages, did he?

...but he still didn't looked silver and he still had lead pouring from his body. A figure of that needs some be sculpting indeed

There was no skin peeling off it's just layers of molten lead. The creature cracked after the sprinkler , it was just coated before.

The reason neca never made a molten lead version because the fear of scalpers. If they were to make one it would be a repaint with minor head re sculpt.

True but there should've never been a fear from scalpers but they wanted to make it that way. Have 1 unit of the Molten Lead Dog in every 4 cases / 1 for every 56 units Or something like that.

Why were they thinking about doing this? because they didn't think people would buy it and that it wouldn't sell as well compared to the "silver" dog alien that we got in Series 8.... what a joke...

Don't know if you saw neca's molten lead version but it doesn't look like they put half the effort you put into yours:

Granted this is a prototype and it could've changed for better or worse, but I think they just wanted it to be another straight up repaint as shown. However i'd like to imagine like you said that their intentions was to at least make a minor head re-sculpt if the idea was pushed forward.

Just received the avp warrior and 'gray' dog, absolutely love both!
Haven't bought any action figure for quite some time, very impressive figures! Now I need a neca queen.

...treated myself to a little something for my b-day and I was lucky enough that everything arrived just in time (it usually takes three weeks to the country I live in, this time it was less than two!)

I've read some complains about Ripley, the Commandos and Cinemachines around here, but I can't see anything wrong with mine. They all look amazing. I was afraid of Ripley's paint job, specially in face and hairline but mine is great.

Also, I love the weight, feel and detail of the Cinemachines. Wish NECA would find a way to do a Space Jockey in scale with the figures, but perhaps that is asking too much.

I don't know, but if you're buying online, it puts you at a disadvantage. I've pretty much stopped buying NECA products except of the occasional figure I plan on heavily modifying for a diorama. The QC is just too bad to waste so much money on. At one time, years ago I was buying 3 of every figure just so I had a better chance of receiving at least one good one. (Thankfully that phase didn't last long. :lol)

Going back on Tuesday, and I've asked for replacements, fingers crossed! (don't make me regret it Randy!) It's such a shame that they squander such talented artist's work with hands-down the wost QC of any company I've ever known. In fact it's mind boggling just how crappy their QC is, it's amost savant like in their ability to screw it up. Still the 1/4 scale big chap is one of my favourite figures ever. I eventually managed to get a good one, and it truly is a thing of beauty. Took three attempts mind you. Though I gave up trying to get the snarling lipped verison after five attempts!

I'm a sucker for GITD and transparent figures.

I posted some better pictures of the GITD Alien a little more than a week ago, looks like I beat NECA to the punch.
