NECA: Alien Movie Franchise Figures

@evil ash: agreed. They can definitely do a smart gunner. no problems there. The only issue they face is getting actor likenesses.
To your point...they could have a smart gunner with the little targeting eye piece that pretty much obscures the face. could be anyone etc. Its unfortunate that neca seems to, for whatever reason, be having difficulty obtaining likeness rights for the various actors who played some of our favorite marines. Obviously Ripley is a non-starter, but Vasquez, Drake, Apone etc. should be a given. I know for a fact (tweeted w her myself) that jenette goldstein is open to consenting to a vasquez figure. Really hope we get more!

I would think if they're going a generic route, then why not do a generic faced smart gunner? Just because they don't have likeness rights doesn't mean they can't do the uniforms and equipment.

So the Aliens line won't pertain to just Aliens 2? Wow! So we will have alien1-4? Im pretty excited about that.
I will say, I do want all Colonial Marines. As many aliens as I can get. Dog Alien from 3 is a must. Maybe a plain generic figure with a face hugger sculpt on it face!
Since Neca did a Predator trophy wall, can we get a biomechanics Alien hive wall? Maybe with a Alien coming out of it?

@sachiel: although neca obviously wants to do marines from "Aliens", randy himself noted that they may have to include a "generic army builder" marine in Series 2, as likeness issues have popped up regarding a specific "on-screen" marine they are trying to do. Wish these actors would just consent already!

Yes,

that is the same question I asked myself when I found out that Clive Owen said no to the Sin City likeness rights.
I did not know actors said no to those, It just never occurred to me.

I know Angelina got upset or something with the Tomb Raider toys, or so I heard.

Other actors have a problem with guns. So they don't want toys of them that will have accessories like that.

I still wonder why some of them say no.

...because many actors are arrogant and self-important. many have "causes". perhaps those "causes" conflict with plastic freaking toys??? i dunno.
I cant understand why al mathews would decline based on the usual problem area (guns)...he was in the military. Hope he consents and we get an apone. the thing is, its going to be done right if necas doing it. Those concerns should be out the window after seeing hicks and hudson. maybe neca is purposefully knocking our hopes down real low, only to blow us out of the water w an apone and vasquez announcement (and freaking shaw! grrrrr!)

But as I've seen the flamethrower and amout of detail in it.. Does any of you guys know if Neca have some plans for weapon replicas from Aliens movie? You know pulse rifle, maybe motion tracker etc.. Gears of War replicas was great from what I've heard so why not this.

nahh no more guns or weapons will be made now since the shootings and terrorist attacks, all kinds of restrictions that kind of stuff will def not be made or sold for sure now

I doubt that. Airsoft gun companies aren't going to be haulted from making and importing realistic weapon replicas anytime soon so why can't NECA make 'space guns'?

Well lord knows NECA would knock a 1:1 pulse rifle out of the park. Its a shame us collectors are limited to the 'matrix' pulse rifle airsoft gun in terms of that department. That is if you don't want to drop $1k.

yeah...stefanfolkins nailed it. A while back, I asked randy about the idea of doing a pulse rifle replica and he basically said what stefanfolkins said. anti-gun folks...neca being a toy company...too realistic...etc. etc. Gotta love the new neutered America.

Im sure NECA will find a way around likeness rights to make more marines.They could invent there own characters like in the comics.

I would expect them to start designing there own Aliens and predators if the Kenner tribute line sells well.It would also give us something different to collect.
