it's just a repaint, doesn't look like lead version.
somebody's custom posted here looked really magnificient. it had actual additional layers all over the body.

I admit its not the best they could do, and I think I did see that custom that you are talking about and the layered and drip effects made it much more cooler I agree. If NECA did that instead of just a paint change it would justify the variant.

So which one's Moebius' design you don't like?
The compression suits. I don't like the CMYK colour-scheme, the enormous helmets (to be fair, the NECA figures make this aspect much worse than the actual screen-used costumes) the way the fitting of the boots and gloves make the suits look more like something you'd wear to go snowmobiling than any sort of spaceworthy gear, or just how ridiculously busy the whole design is, with its bolts and stitches and plating and padding and quilting and all the rest of the overdetailed junk covering the suits (even more so in the original concept art, though that at least looked like something you could take a spacewalk in).

Even more than that, I guess, I'm irritated by the apparent fact that so many artists are so taken with the damn thing that it keeps showing up over and over again, even in the Aliens timeline, where, 50-some years on, it would likely be an obsolescent antique, but there it is nonetheless, taking screen/page-time away from the Technical Manual's USCM-specific "Mk 35" suit. It's like how every artist and his dog draws Boba Fett with his Return of the Jedi armour regardless of when the story is set, only worse.

ED-209 getting a reissue at the same time with new window packaging. I guess I'll buy one to have spare - with no differences to it and no scenes that I'm setting up I don't strictly need it but it might be worth having in case something bad ever befalls my current ED.

A second Queen Alien is useful because of her 2 key scenes and the wealth of supporting figures and items to make it all worthwhile.

I pre-ordered ED at BBTS. I need an honest opinion - is it worth the dosh? Is it a solid figure? Joints ok?

I had no issues with mine and I love it. Its what McFarlane should have made all those years ago when they instead decided they hated money.

It doesn't have as much articulation as the Hot Toys one but it at least has the rail legs that it can extend into attack mode or shrink back down to rest mode - plus it has the actual voice and sounds from the movie. As you probably recall the Hot Toys one had some stupid redubbed voice.

Well, there are good reasons why compression suits should be bulky and have armor, and a big helmet, protection from fast traveling debris and shock absorption, thermal protection, among other things, that's just well thought out sci-fi design, even the great Arthur C Clarke has described big bulky colored armored compression suits in 3001, that is a millennium from now, it's not a matter of technology's capabilities or obsolescence, it's just good sense of a convenient size/shape some things should have, and pastel colors help with identification in poor visibility environments, Prometheus suits though, now those are bad and poorly thought out, and not only that, anachronistic too.

Sure Moebius adds unnecessary superficial elements, he's French, but the core design is well thought out for a man-made suit, look at the blackbird pilot suit.

Sweet. I think NECA are making Robo again this year too.

following your discussion with Johnny Utah, i thought you're talking about alien queen for a second.
went into deeper and deeper shock until the redubbed voice mention.

no, i really tried to remember leg extending mechanism on my queen, luckily she stands very high and behind other figures and i didn't break her while trying to find hidden joints

It definitely will be. NECA would never pay to tool up another EVA suit body just to make it a half inch shorter. Happens all the time with them...why put in the effort to do something right when they can do it cheap?

They probably wouldn't redo it because it'd be cost prohibitive. Let's face it, this character will never be a top seller. I'd rather have a slightly out of scale Lambert than not at all.

Working on my display of a cross between the med lab and the ops center from Aliens. Once the sentry gun packs are released I'm going to put the control panels for the sentry guns on the desk in front of Hicks. The WWE announcer table and the desk from the Edward Nygma figure are being used and look great imo.

I'm going to put at least two sentry guns in the dio on the top of the 2nd pic since those two cubes are next too each other. My plan is kind of like the Aliens are at the pressure doors even though things aren't movie accurate.

Needless to say the weapons pack with the Sentry guns are probably my most highly anticipated release of 2017 depending on what surprises we get next month at toy fair.

Awesome display Staps!!

I wonder what kind of reveals they will have at the upcoming toy fair in Feb ? From the sounds of it and the reveals we have had so far my guesses so far would be -

The Alien 3 creature pack full reveal.

Ripley 8, maybe tease Newborn.

Lambert full reveal. Maybe if we are lucky a teaser of another Nostromo crew member. Maybe Parker just to spice things up and force NECA to do a completely new tooled sculpt.

Tease Drake or Apone.
