I wonder why is that not the first choice anyway? Bundling her in with something else I mean. Surely a Ripley and Newt 2-pack has as much mass retail potential as Ripley on her own or a Colonial Marine. Similarly if they do T2 John Connor - why not release him in a 2-pack with the T-800? I dunno, it seems so obvious to me and 2-packs get suggested by fans so often - what am I missing? Why do they insist that Newt has to be released on her own as a limited exclusive?

I agree, Randy made comments about retail sales for Newt would not work. Why not ? speaking for myself I want at least two.

Given the interest here, other sites, complaints on twitter. 3000 Newts would sell strictly @neca website in a days time. The issue of human figures not selling as well is always brought up. The only Aliens figures I see available at normal price are Bishops, and Windrix the Hicks and Hudson series 1's have gone nuttz on secondary market. I did luck out when Gamestop reduced those to 5 bucks, after calling every gamestop in 100 miles and going on two road trips ( they would not ship from stores).

Why not alter Ripley figure with leather jacket add Newt in 2 pack, with or with out accessories (pulse rifle, helmet would nice).
Look at the prices people are wanting for a Newt,TMNT after they pick em up @ SDCC. That should tell someone of the demand for those, and how much money even if Neca sells at wholesale to distributors they ( neca ) are leaving on the table.

Offer a true preorder, let whom every wants a Newt pay for @ Necaclub (limited to 2, no price gougers). Then produce figure accordingly. Problem solved, or am I being to naive?

Agree, it is rather confusing lately with the whole Newt issue. Before she was announced as SDCC exclusive Randy said she would be easy to obtain and went to great lengths after said announcement to say he was working on a way to get her outside of the convention circle. So what happened between now and then to make her suddenly not so easy to obtain ? I do not think SDCC is cranking down on the exclusive aspects of their toys but then again I could be wrong. Maybe they see how much money they are loosing on the secondary market and want to keep more of it for themselves ?

As for human figures not selling argument it could be said the same for female figures not selling in general. Some of them will not sell but they tend to more of the lesser well known or not highly desired characters, and couple that with females tending to be made less than the male characters it just closes the availability even more so. But when you look at highly demanded characters like Rey at the beginning and also Aliens Ripley you see how good a popular character will sell if made and done right. The same can be said for Newt. She is well made and wanted by a lot of Aliens fans so despite being a female figure she will most likely not shelf warm.

The two pack option seems the best bet and most likely. Pair her up with the second most popular Ripley variant with her leather bomber jacket and maybe cut back one accessory from the Newt pack, or maybe swap it out for another like a smashed status tube and crawling facehugger or maybe even a battle damaged facehugger riddled with pulse rifle bullets. If NECA even want to even the odds further go another mile and make said two pack either a store or online exclusive. If not at their store then I am sure Big Bad or Amazon or dorkside would be glad to sell them.

Yeah it is confusing, even more when you consider how many hoops Randy is letting himself jump through to assure fans she is going to be available outside SDCC than say the TMNT sets. Either he is seriously trying to dampen all the bad vibes NECA is getting lately because of the SDCC madness or he has indeed got a plan in place for Newt.

Thirteen sold on ebay so far at $58+. If it hits 500, is that a good time to panic? Don't really know how to analyze it. Plenty of pure scalpers out there, so they'll sell whatever they get. You have to believe that some of the people getting these at the show actually want them. If they are like most people, they will want someone else to pay for their figure. So I have been wondering why BBTS has not put the individual Frost up for PO yet so I emailed them about it.

BBTS responded that they do not anticipate listing the single Frost figure due to the duplicate figures in the case assortments.

There are at least two places to get the individual Frost: ToyWiz and Freshfigures.com

ToyWiz has pretty bad reviews and I had never heard of Freshfigures. Has anyone ordered from FF and know if they are legit.

I'm hoping the hard line they are drawing is all contractual and demanded by SDCC. Maybe after the event is over the options will loosen up.

Either that or Randy already has the leather jacket Ripley 2-pack planned. Both would explain his pleas for patience.

I have ordered one thing from Fresh Figures and had no issues at all. I also have Vasquez, Frost and the Narcissus on preorder from them. Nicholas Hostetter from youtube (the guy with the interesting smile) has talked very positively about them though.

I love NECA and the fantastic figures they produce but the whole Newt fiasco has really disappointed me, if I can't get her (I'm in the UK) I'll have a serious think about what I buy in the future, these exclusives just enable scalpers to rip genuine collectors off on eBay and a run of only 3000 is nowhere near enough.
NECA have dropped a bollock and shame on them.

I think exclusives should be non-essential figures. For example, the cloaked Scar AvP Predator makes sense. It's a nice figure for Predator fans, but it's not an essential character or look - you can live without it. Newt, however, is a main freaking character and we shouldn't have to resort to scalpers on eBay to get her. Oh well, I guess it is what it is. Randy has hinted that he will find a way to get Newt to use outside of SDCC, but until he tells us what that is, we're out of luck

SDCC is doing anything to survive the studios dropping out, especially Disney.

They're hoping Newt exclusive will make up for it.

That would be awesome and the 1st thing I thought is that the Newt coming later will be missing the helmet but you never know.
