^I don't like how NECA sculpts clothes either. Another reason I'm concerned about how Robin will turn out. And yeah, that's a really good point about keeping Robin and Batman in scale. If NECA F's that up, they won't compliment each other well regardless of how the sculpt quality turns out.

As for visible joints, I can't stand them at all. The only figure that I own with really visible joints (that don't bother me) is NECA's 1/4 Gollum/Smeagol. But that's because he's almost completely naked :lol only costs ~$50 and I keep them displayed separately from my "high-end" figures. I guess that's the only reason why I can tolerate him, although NECA does deserve credit as his joints are well designed, and his face sculpt is pretty damn awesome.

As for visible joints on my higher-end figures, I just have to hide them from view as best I can. Yeah, they are action figures, but at the price we pay for them, I don't want to be constantly reminded that they are just action figures. This is why I will never buy the EB Rambo and why I will never display my EB Bruce Lee with just his tank-top on. I actually display him in a neutral pose, with hands behind his back to hide his wrist joints. I wish I didn't care so much about joints, since I'd have less limitations on display options. But for some reason, visible joints just automatically make me think "toy" and not "collectible."

^I meant using spandex to mod the figure and conceal the joints. I know NECA will make the joints easily visible, which kills a figure for me. Another design aspect I want to see is Robin's clothes, because NECA will also sculpt his clothes, which I don't really care for either. But if his clothes are sculpted well and it looks possible to hide his joints, I may pick him up. Otherwise, I'll probably pass on him.

ah my miss understanding.

i agree about the scale, thats why im so eager to see robin. Batman was a good start but Robin is the deal breaker for me, they have to get the scale right. and minimize the visible joints wherever possible.

Saigon, that's interesting. Yes, I can completely understand your need for realism. I am lucky that jointing doesn't bother me. If I am taking a photograph, I will try and disguise the joints as much as possible. However, I otherwise quite enjoy seeing a well-engineered figure, joints and all. It sends me into the Uncanny Valley, which is a place I like to visit. :lol

You don't suppose NECA would make Robin 18" just because all their other 1:4 figures are 18", do you? I bought Batman with the expectation that I would be gettng Robin. If they are the same size, I probably won't. Come on, Neca. Put us out of our misery.

Well, they did make their 1/4 Dutch smaller than their 1/4 Predator, so I think that's promising. But with NECA, you really never know until the figure's released. Who knows, they may even make Robin bigger than batman :lol

NECA said on their Twitter page that Robin has only just been started and won't be at NY Toy Fair. So someone might want to ask them if he'll be in scale with Batman before it's to late to make changes.

Looks as though there is no hope of a March release, then. We know that at least a preliminary head was sculpted at the same time as the 66 Batman, as we've seen it. I suppose they were waiting to see how that one sold before putting any more effort into his sidekick.

I don't Tweet, but if someone is on there, could they ask about the revised release date and also remind them that he needs to be 16.5"?

Cheers

^thanks man. I cut the top of a Rubbermaid storage bin to make the yellow portion of the symbol. And then I cut an old notebook that has a black plastic cover for the actual bat. The yellow portion is a bit thicker than I would like, but that's all I could find laying around the house :lol

Entertainment Earth has another 1 day sale coming up. The image is the '66 Bat. Hoping it will be this figure...

^I know EE already did a one day sale for the NECA '66 Batman a few weeks back. I think he was on sale for ~$60-65, I can't remember the exact price. Anyway, hopefully that doesn't mean they won't repeat another one day sale for this figure, because he's pretty cool and worth it, even at retail price.

Still trying to convince you to pick him up if you can't tell :lol

Wow, didn't notice the first sale. I probably would have grabbed him.

I scored him for $63 on Entertainment Earth today on their "not mint" section. I hope the packaging isn't too banged up. I think I'm going to try to do some fabric costume customization. That ab joint bugs the hell out of me. I have never tackled anything like this before and not sure how confident I am about taking apart the figure.

i maybe got lucky with mine and the factory didn't use much glue that day ,but it came apart pretty easy ,i just soaked him in boiling water and he popped apart ok ,the boots were the hardest to separate but all in all it took about 10 minutes ,i have no sewing skills and no hope of a full body suit ,,but roped my sister in to sew 2 tubes for the legs and a rough T shaped top ,the trunks cover the unsuited part anyway ,so i just about got away with it lol , im really happy with it and thanks to Saigon express for the inspiration to go through with it ,just be carefull not to snap the hips when pulling on the boots and you should be fine ,by the way i slit the trunks up the back when replaceing them so as not to disturb the leggins ,good luck ,i think its well worth the effort for the difference it makes

Amazing work LIBBY1957DOG!! The suit really looks great!!! You and your sister did a fantastic job :hi5:

I also ended up slitting the trunks (slit mine down the sides at the seams) and just superglued them back together. You can't even tell they're cut :) But like you said, that's pretty much the only way to get the trunks back on without ripping his leggings.

Nice bat symbol too, btw! What'd you use to make yours? I'm trying to find something to replace mine as it's a little too thick right now. I bought some yellow foam-like material at hobbylobby and was thinking of using that. But I want it even thinner if possible.

Awesome Libby! That looks great. Thanks for the encouragement and break down. Did you boil the whole figure? Or do it in sections?
