it's 103 mile round trip to the nearest tru store where i live, that's why i started buying online, if gas wasn't so high, i would drive 103 miles. to pick the best figures.

In seriousness I've never seen conclusive proof two versions were made.

I have a neca 18" Robocop and like other collectibles its look very different in different lighting conditions.

I agree they do look different. But what I've learned in this hobby is looks can are deceiving.

The only way to know for sure, is by reaching out to Randy Falk on twitter and getting confirmation from someone who knows what's what.
