I am just happy, good timing too, I had to down scale my Orca commission from 1/9 to 1/10 just in time before we started, these were announced šŸ¤ I donā€™t mind the size of Bruce

So this jaws isnā€™t the same jaws we saw long ago? The one where the guy was holding by the tail? That one is bigger?

They may have taken some of it from that original sculpt, but that was indeed a full, proportionate body compared to this caricature.

I really think the delay between seeing that original sculpt and getting this was time spent figuring out a way to release a realistic looking shark that scales with the people and keep costs reasonable and the look of the figure. A full body, proportional shark would be a huge piece and packaging costs, etc.

Um...nope

The Quint is my favorite reveal by far of Toy Fair, really happy they are doing an Ultimate of him.

I still want to see Brody and the original Bruce but Quint alone represents the movie well for me.

But the shark proto above it would of looked like that

Yes theyā€™d be similar, but for the sake of the conversation, I think itā€™s important that the raw sculpt shot is as far as we saw NECA get prior to now. They never got so far as to show a full, painted shark, leaked, display or otherwise.
You got the Game shark... and no Brody.

Better than nothing... but certainly not fully satisfying.

Let's hope this 50th brings more choices. This really is the last chance.
I am hoping form some sort of nice, full body, no mechanics showing, accurate Bruce to come out. Time has really made me sour on the Sideshow statue, but I still like it better than any SCO sharks, and the Bruce UK maker seems to be done at the moment, though Iā€™d like to get one of theirs. Iā€™d been hoping for NECA to be an affordable option for this, but unfortunately that didnā€™t pan out, which stinks, but I get it, and at least Iā€™ll have an accurate looking head in my collection.

Who asked for the Game shark? Nobody! But there were a lot of people asking over and over for that prototype shown 2 years ago. NECA is going as far as saying that this is your BRUCE for your NECA collection. So I guess Bruce Jr. is what we'll ever get.

I'm more miffed about not having a Brody for a 2nd round of NECA figures.

I mean, the shark is nice but the scale is better suited for the Tiger shark. If the tail wasn't curved, maybe would have made a nice display to have the shark hanging by its tail behind the crew. A nod to the old Universal Studios display in the 70's.

"... a what?"

Isn't this scaled to the 8" retro cloth figures? I think it should be a little smaller for the 7" Ultimates.
Neca does release large things like the 1:1 Chucky, Tiffany, Megan dolls, and the 1/4 scale figures. I think it's very possible they could still make a 7" scale Bruce. Maybe they just want to get this less expensive option out there first.

An interview at the toyfair, Neca Blain said this is your JAWS that we've been asking for our collections
I doubt we'll get anything bigger now, but yeah, that was for the retro 8" stuff at the time

This is a smart and cool way to get around any licensing/logistic issues that might've been preventing them from making Bruce. I'm not that bothered by the scale because I'll probably just get the shark itself, knowing a Brody is never coming doesn't really make me want to get the other two.

The scale of the head is just fine.

The real problem is the proportions. From the belly forward, it looks great, from the belly back is like 50% the size it should be.

While the Sideshow maquette is way off in the head shapes, the overall silhouette is quite good and certainly good enough for comparison.

I pre-ordered all 3 items from Neca, but feel a bit bamboozled that they released the cloth versions of the figures first. Totally would have skipped 'em had these come out first instead. At the end of the day, though, there just aren't that many Jaws collectibles so whatever.

I will buy Quint, Hooper, the shark and anything they release.

Hope enough people buy them and Neca tries to convince the Brody state again. Maybe they are waiting for enough sales and then go for Brody and a shark in proper scale. Theyve done an Alien Queen and other stuff, sure they can go for Bruce too.

If the Retro and the Ultimates were the exact same from accessories to sculpts and outfits, I would definitely feel this way, but, between the two formats, there are a lot of accessories to be able to capture different looks and moments for each character where it wouldn't feel redundant to have both on display. That's why I keep buying, because I've yet to run into a case where I feel like it's the same figure over and over.

I have the JAWS crew as ReAction figures, Funko Pops and NECA Retro figures, and each is a slightly different look in my display from the other. My Retro Quint has the bandana on and is holding the machete for his final moments, I may very well go jacketless for the Ultimates Quint.
