NECA - Planet of the Apes

I'm in a similar situation. I'm in Guangzhou, and wave 3 are nowhere to be found. Got the first 2 waves from taobao, and saw them at retail here too. Luckily one of my American friends is grabbing wave 3 for me while she's home for summer, unfortunately she has no room for the Lawgiver too. I'm not paying the $120 they are asking for it on taobao. Really frustrating since they were all manufactured over here. It stings a bit paying paying $90 for wave 3 including delivery, when wave 1 and 2 cost me less than $100 combined.

Well at least you have a friend back in US to grab it for you. I have the extra shipping ontop from the forwarder as well, plus god knows if I get a good batch. Your friend could at least pick one off the shelf and take a look at the quality and choose a good one for you.

Wave 1 and 2 werent special at all so these could be found locally, but its the thought of sdcc or toys r us exclusives that is annoying again and again. Luckily our local retailer did order the lawgiver, or that would be a nightmare going through the same forwarding route.

It sucks in general, but nothing you and I can do. We are insignificant numbers.

Apparently this set did not sell well at the Con and the outlook for it continuing is extremely grim. The numbers from ToysRUs and GoHastings will be in later this week. Such a shame for such an awesome line.

If you want to shop toys in general, then Sino centre, CTMA, Inspoint as well as Richmond centre are the places to be.
If you want to get Neca stuff, try Metro Comics one floor down in CTMA. Richmond centre sells neca stuff, but most likely bootleg stuff so you might as well get those back in china. lol

That place you mentioned in YMT is called Inspoint. One or two shops do sell some neca stuff there. In Hk, most shops are practically close with each other so it saves alot of legwork. However the stuff they sell can change so fast, stores open and close just like that. Once you lived long enough around the area, you'll know how things work. Over the years Lego has been a craze over here, so thats why you see more lego shops at Inspoint.

What is it you want to buy, maybe I can give you a straight answer right away or at least offer some help.

Thanks, yeah Inspoint was the name. I'm after a Lawgiver, though I'm not getting my hopes up I'll find one. I'm interested in checking out other western stuff, not too fussed what. Just be nice to find some places that aren't full of anime and Gundam.

However you could try a store called Toys World (type the same name in Facebook and you should find the phone number there) Ask for Tony and see if he has what you want. He used to have a shop at Inspoint till he moved to TST east, but since then I think he moved again. Not sure where he is now since I havent seen him in ages, but he still sells lots of horror related and western stuff such as Neca. You may find what you want there if you are still lucky. Try those suggestions first because if they cant help you, then thats it my friend.

BBTS had series 3 up for pre-order starting at $149.99 but it is now listed as being sold out! Did they really have any sets? I thought no one was able to sell this accept TRU, Hastings, and Neca. And they sold the set for double the cost?!

So did I my friend. I ordered extras to pick up slack. Reading some posts on other forums, it would seem that TRU sold out quickly, while others had trouble ordering through Neca. I wonder how many sets Neca brought to the Con. Unfortunately, everything Neca does with this line seems to backfire on them.

-Released back to back Dr. Zaius
-No Protagonists, humans, or mutants (Major Deathblow)
-No bandoliers with Gorilla 2pk
-Waited too long to work out exclusives
-revealed Julius only to shelve him
-Decided to reveal other lesser known characters instead of ones that fans have requested for a long time, i.e. Ape-O-Nauts.

Why won't Neca give us any humans for this line?

No Zira/Cornelleas in Space Suits.... Why?
No Humans in the biggest question. Even basic head sculpt human slaves would have worked for me.
No Horses? Its too expensive? Yet Aliens/Predator get special treatment? You can argue the success of those lines, but had we seen a Ape/Horse set, it would have pulled more buyers. There are ZERO doubts about that.
No Councel figures. No miniature Law Givers. No Bleeding Law Giver varient, which would have killed as an exclusive.
No random sculpted Chimps or Orangatangs.
We get a Mego Style Taylor, but no 7 inch Taylor? From him alone, we could have had a Space suit version, slave version clean and dirty, maybe a bloody neck/patched neck varient. Clean shaved and bearded. WTf? Why not a Ultimate Taylor? Slave based figure, with paper airplane, rifle, clean shaved face, bearded face, dirty baby doll, and a net! Couldn't do that, it's out of our budget, lets focus on Marvel and Aliens though...

I'm very bitter over this. It seems POTA is truely the line that will never go long term.

Nova would have signed off for a figure. Thats another must have.
The mutants... Thats a no brainer. Masked and unmasked varients there.
Gorilla Soldiers with War flags.
The list for these, including reused parts and repaints is unreal. I'm so pissed.

Wow. Sad to hear the bad news about the line. I to see Necas bad choices here. To me the 8" mego style figures were just a waste. I see those at every toysrus on the pegs. As well as Zauis v.1 which is a peg warmer as well. It was a bad idea to release 2 Zauis's back to back so dumb. And i agree with you guys the gorilla 2 pack with no bandoliers was a big deal breaker for many. You think, that part pry cost like 20 cents to make and theu could throw a few in cause quoute it would drive up cost??? All 5 figures seemed to jave sold well. The Lawgiver was on Necas ebay account which i bought from within 3 weeks theu were sold out on the neca store. I think they had 30 available. That piece sold well!!!! I mean how many here go to toysrus, Target, and Wal-Mart and see tons of star wars black series with the same figures on the shelf. Example leia, greedo, solo..... So how is it Neca has to cancel a line cause there figures dont sell right away! Give me a break. I think thos line was pry a short time from the beginning. It sucks now that we just got half of what medicom released 12 years ago with there line. Keep your heads up guys 2018 is a few years away and will be planet of the apes 50th anniversary so im sure us ape fans will get something!

Reading your past NECA shopping cart post, no one can accuse you Sticks of not supporting the line.

Even my son got into it... he bought FOUR Bundle sets on his own, hoping he could help save this line. It's heartbreaking.

And that is a decent list of things that went wrong with NECA's treatment of the line. With hindsight being 20/20, I think that the first wave should have been Soldier Ape, Cornelius and the 2nd version Zaius instead of what we got. And the second wave should have included a Captive Taylor, Zira and Ursus. I think both of those waves would have felt more rounded to the collecting base.

But the point is moot. Unless there is a continued interest in the line from TRU, the Statue of Liberty is on the horizon.

Checked out the Richmond and Metro Toys. Nobody had a Lawgiver unfortunately. The guy at Metro was really nice though. Rang the other store to check stock and had a little chat. I was gutted to hear they were selling it for the equivalent of $50 when they had it. Bought a Neca Reeve Superman though so didn't go home empty handed.

Gonna be disappointed if this line ends here.
