New Nightmare's Freddy Krueger was a good example. Actually, there were two versions of that figure, each with a different second head. One was another expression and one was the demon head.

^ Seriously...what the ____ is NECA talking about?

New Nightmare Freddy...

Remake Freddy...

Sam from Trick 'r Treat...

The Texas Chainsaw Beginning box set....

300 pretty much ALL the figures

Army of Darkness ASH

The Lost Boys figures/

There's no excuse why NECA shouldnt include an extra head. It to me, just seems like another money grab. Which is a shame for such a great figure. I got tired of dealing with this crap when I was collecting the Sin City figures. They changed a tiny little detail and called it a new figure. And made varients. Bah.

I expect "OMGZ JUS SHUUTTT UP AN DEAL WIF YER NEW PREDDDTOR!!"...and to that I say, "____ you". :lol

The Saw figures.....all of them...holy ____! Half their collection of figures have swappable heads. :lol

Remake Jason!

Grindhouse QT!

Stuntman Mike..

Michael Myers had an extra head.....so did the 12inch Kratos.

Original 18 inch Freddy came with an extra head too...

Remake Jason as well.

I gotta say, even though NECA won't change their ways with Preds, I do agree with CelticP. It's way too hard to decide. Getting 'em all may have been a realistic solution for the 7" figures, but there's no way in hell that can be pulled off with a ginormous $80 19" Predator. Room is one issue, and the sheer impracticality is another. Hate to have to choose, but I guess open mouth is for me.

Seriously though, for $80 (hell, raise it up to $90 if need be) and for that size, swappable heads would be perfect. And we all know that the rules of marketing cancel out when it comes to Predator. These puppies will sell like hotcakes, regardless of how they do the heads.

If they just wanted to make money fine. But still, throw us a bone, and make the masked head the FINAL head and the unmasked the variants. That would be better. You want both heads? Buy both. But ____ing THREE???

Agh. I'm not trying to ruin a good thing...but this is seriously keeping me from buying it.

The masked head is the head that comes with all the figures. But the extra is the unmasked one. That could be the varient. One opened, one closed.

Perhaps. But that still better then 3. Think about it...everyone loves the masked Predator....some people would rather have an opened or closed mouth.

I dont know....I probably wont buy NECA's reason for doing this. It's not like they have never included extra heads with 18inchers....and it's not like they're bankrupt.

I'm slow tonight but if I understand you right - 2 releases each with 2 heads in the package - the masked head is the standard head in both but one would come with the closed mandible head as an extra while the other one would have the open mandible head as its extra.

To get all the heads you'd buy a maximum of 2 1/4 predator figures as opposed to the 3 in NECAs plan.

To display all the heads you'd buy 3 1/4 scale predators for the extra body and end up with a few heads left over spare.

Yeah, but look at how much parts and the costs associated with each figure to find out why some come with alternated heads in the packaging and some dont.

Figures like Freddy Krueger, 300, Micheal Myers, Ash, ect. Are human sized figures (about 6"- 7" scale) with fairly minimal articulation and deco costs. The Predators are 8" scale figures that require alot more plastic to make, and add to that each piece of armor, each detailing part like the sliding wristblades, dreadlocks, the multi-part face, very extensive articulation and you have double or triple the amount of tooling and molds that need to be dedicated to a single figure.

With these tooling costs, the costs of the actual figure's part molds (which cost a small fortune by themseleves) the increase in required plastic needed, and more complex and intensive assembly and painting process makes the Predator figures far for expensive to produce than the figures that come with alternate heads in the package.

For NECA to make money for making us these more expensive to produce than normal figures, they have to sell as many as they can and get the most use out of the money they invested in the tooling and molds; and to do that they need to sell multiple versions of the same figure. Do I wish I could get all 3 heads in one packaging? Hell yeah! But the costs of business for producing the types of complex figures as the Predators just don't allow it.

Right. It DOES cost more money. I know it does. But the fact of the matter is, they CAN do it. It's not as if adding one extra head is going to bankrup their whole company. Adding 3 extra heads would be too big. I agree. But one? Bah. I dont think so.

I guess it's a good thing you're not in charge of their company then.

Right. Good thing. I mean, if I was, I would be giving you something cool, insted of basicly ripping you off..but whatever. Have fun trying to find a place for 3 giant Predators.

But I don't need you...NECA is already giving me something cool.

And I don't have to worry about it, I've got plenty of places to put 3 giant Predators.

I couldn't care less about that weak sculpt of a Pred Hot Toys put out.

If you like it, and it's your 'end-all-be-all' Pred fig, I'm happy for ya.

I'll take 3 cheaper priced, better sculpted Preds from NECA anyday.

I'm contemplating donating one to the future home cinema room but to be honest when it comes to it I probably won't be able to - I'll want to be able to look at both in my main collection room at all times. :lol

Again...from no interest in 19" or 22" or whatever it is this morning to now thinking its a great idea and 3 quarter scale figures now on order (2 preds, 1 Alien hopefully).....in the words of Han Solo "y'know sometimes I amaze even myself"

Alrighty.

I also love this Hot Toys hate now since Tankman is up in these threads. Hilarious.

"OH WOW! THE HT PREDATOR IS SO COOL!"

"Hurm, no. It's sucky!"

"OH WAIT NEVRRRRMIND IT SUX."

Haha...
