McFarlane netting doesn't look noticeably thicker than NECAs here^. McFarlane sculpt is simply laughable but the paintapps are neater.
the netting is both thicker and wider spaced on the McF figures. and most of it isn't painted, look at the chest and legs in that pic. the AVP preds netting was even worse.
Well we just have to agree to disagree than. But IMO it is not an opinion here. Mcfarlane figures in fact (Preds, Aliens) had a better paintjob all around at almost every area.
no they didn't and the last comparison pic proves it.
Exactly and those pictures show that and I had all of the Mcfarlane preds, little dios and I never had problem with the paint apps at the netting. Mcfarlane in fact had better paint on they figures than Neca quality wise.
the first 2 pics are freaking prototypes, are you really gonna base your argument on that?

Hmmm. Yeah I'll concede that. But look at overall skintones and the head particularly. Do you think NECA will be able to do that today? I don't think so.

I agree about the paint job re Mcf vc Neca - just look at the 12" Predator from McFarlane -- it's mostly a paint wash, so it has texture, but they are uneven and they couldn't do precise paint details like the current batch of predators from neca (as in the latest of the latest --- look at the Masked pred 1 --- vs the open mouth pred -- the skin texture, armour paint job, and plastic is all different...

the Pred 2 armour from McF is nicely painted...but their pred 1 is meh...they use wash type paints for many things...which gets nice texture but not precise details...they were limited to the painting tech they had then...

Comparison Pick
7" vs 18"

I said before all important Predators like City Hunter or Elder NECA should release in 18"

The 7" scale is to small to be good for Predators.

I agree -- but you gotta compare this to the new Masked predator -- because the body is now practically identical in terms of color (minus the painted mesh of course) and type of plastic -- it differes much from the first released open mouth - more translucent, not yellowish, nicer armour colours too

Mcfarlane 12

The paint is maybe cleaner than on the 7" NECA, but this doesnt help the figure. The scuplt was ok ten years ago, but now ? Awful

Paint is important, very imortant.
But better a accurate scuplt with bad paint, than a bad sculpt with good paint in my opinion.

The netting is easy to fix, all you need is a water resistant black marker.

However the paint on the 7" looks weak overall, agree to 100%.

aside from the netting - NOT on the masked pred -- you have to look at the latest release, because NECA stepped up the overall paint on the newest version -- the newest masked pred is quite different from the open mouth, or damaged masked versions -- it's even different from the Gort -- the new 7" masked looks almost exactly like the 19" version in terms of the translucent material, the paint apps and the armour colors -- very VERY different from the previous 7" releases -- take a good look - if someone can post pics would be helpful - I don't have them nearby...the netting is still an issue though =(

but this is the new standard for the 7" - the masked pred....

I can speak just about the closed mouth, this is the version i own.

However i agree with you. The new version have a better paint.

This past weekend I went to pick up my Hot Toys Sweeney Todd. As I went thru the 7" isle of this collectable store I saw the NECA series 3 and Terminator Series 1 for the first time in person. Now I do have these in order and will be making the purchase, but It looked like the paint apps on both collections looked cheap. Not too impressed. Neca’s WOLF Predator looked awesome with very tight paint apps. What’s going on NECA?

Even photo's appearing online give them a already "dated" look. Have to admit not to impressed.

Still will be making the purchase because.....I have too!!!

Every second post here revolves around the painting on the 7" figures.
NECA can paint good on 7" too.
Not generalize all.

Congrats NECA!
