This looks so cool and I can't help but think how cool P2 would be at 19 inches.

I can't tell you how much it makes my weekend for you to say that. I started out this photo project with little hope and I'm glad it turned out so well. It's icing on the cake for you to commend it. Thanks for a great figure!

I would hope so and part of me would like to see the elbow be like the early HT Predators where you'd get more movement. I'm hoping Randy is up to something on Predator 2 because a few weeks ago he grabbed my HT lost Pred and I asked him what for. He wanted to show the factory that the cloth net should work. I asked why and he said too many of our P1's have the net issue.
I was thinking at the time we're done with the 19inch Preds or are we? Fingers crossed P2 and Elder on the way.

If there is an Elder on the way, can you ask for an accurate paint scheme instead of all they grey.

Oh heck yeah we'd redo the paint for the 19 inch Elder if we make it. I'd also like to tweak some things here and there.

The pix are so cool and really bring out the sculpt very nice. Great job on it.

No doubt. I seem to remember you talking about the cobra belt and the laser sight on top of the plasma caster, among other things, some months back.

One of the things I remember reading from SS and Neca was that HT has an advantage with the production factory. HT can in essence have someone on site. Can't they hire someone in China if they don't want to send someone from the States? And it would seem more productive to hire someone from China. I'm sure HT gets better results because they work with their countrymen.
neca does have someone on site, just not permanently. neca has an overseas supervisor that go back and forth to china to check up on things there. but i see what you mean, having someone on site permanently who can speak the language and better understand the culture might help. but that someone also has to understand the toymaking process and has high standard. so maybe neca could steal ht's factory supervisor? :monkey3

My concern is that with the Wolf Predator figure (and all of the variants), there were NO paint issues.

It is a fantastically painted figure.

Why can't NECA just use whatever factory they used for their Wolf?
not just wolf. neca has produced many cool figs that have decent paint app. so i dont get this sometimes good/sometimes sloppy tendency. do they use two different factories? do they cut corner on the more expensive licenses(termie, preds, potter all look sloppily painted)? are the factory workers only sober for half a year but drunk for the other half? what?

dont just say the girls on the assembly line are stupid. they are just workers. it's your job to make them work for you and see things your way. you dont see a general blaming his soldiers when a battle is lost.

If NECA lived up to their full potential, we'd have absolute perfection and I'd make it a point to buy every single Lost Hunter they made. After all, HT now prices their Predators in the $200-$225 range. NECA would only have to go up to $150 or so to achieve quality similar to that of the two-ups, since they lack the more-complex articulated bodies, fabric parts, electronic features, bases, and fancy packaging that HT is known for.
but that's what i meant. even if priced the same as a ht, that neca 2up can still be a serious contender to ht's preds, based on the strength of kyle's superior sculpt. take out the electronics, par down the accessories to the basic, drop the fancy packaging, price it at $150, and it's no contest which 12" i will choose. no contest.

everything else you said in your post i agree.

Funny thing when others come to my house and see the NECA Pred standing there and then see the 1/6th stuff they can't believe ours only goes for 70 bucks. I've got the new HT shadow Predator and for 220 bucks it's too much money. I like it but still 220 bucks and the paint on his back is nothing like the movie and there are inaccurate things on the figure.
kyle, not to stroke your ego, but i think i speak for a lot of people when i say your 2up kick ht's pred nuts EASY. and speaking for myself, your pred looks better and more accurate than even the CM; that's the highest high end you could go short off a lifesize replica. so you dont have to sweet talk us anymore with how low your price is, or how inferior the ht's or mcf's or ss's are. we know. we see. what i keep saying is your sculpt is worth more than $70. much much more. so let's see the paint keep up with it, okay? :wink1:

Still it's cool having HT stuff on my shelf. I'm hoping we will do more 1/4th and yes going High end for me would be great. Fans need to remember though I get payed to sculpt the prototype even if NECA just made the figure into a bathtub toy. For what they are I think being small action figures they're fine. If I had a need to see my stuff go High end I'd try working for SS. NECA has been a dream job and I'm lucky I get to put a lot of input in on our figures.
Maybe we'll do more High end sometime but that's not up to me. It's also cool to know many more people out there can afford are cheaper figures so it's all good to go. Even though my sculptures at NECA get turned into a cheap toy that won't stop the fan in me from trying to make the best most accurate figure I can. Heck I get payed to sculpt things I love. Somebody pinch me.
you got upset by mcf's NJ office for the way they treated your pred, justifiably so. and now working for neca, your pred is treated just as bad but you dont seem to upset as much.

at the end of the day, a line has to be drawn perhaps - do you want to cater more to us, or to the walmart moms? because if you want to cater to the collectors, then a $25-30 for a 7" pred is still an easy buy. but if you want to cater to walmart moms, then your sculpt is a waste of your time. just give them the old kenner's quality, price it slightly lower, and they will still buy for their kids.

and that's what your current preds look like to me... they look like neca cant make up their damn mind, and your preds suffer greatly because of it.

The 2-ups look better than most of the stuff that gets put in $200+ range. Sucks that NECA won't take this seriously.

You are coming down too hard on these toys man, they are leaps and bounds ahead of most affordable movie toys in terms of sculpt and paint application.

Paint apps is beyond his control but, the sculpting wasn't hence why he is not so errr upset this time around i'd guess. lol

Kenner quality. XD *sigh*

If i was so hardcore about Predator i'd pick up a paint brush and have at'er if it really bothered me that much.

dont justify it with its price tag. tankman did it, and now you're doing it also. forget the price for a sec. do you see a prob with the fig? do you see how it can be improved? would you go for a better painted pred? if you answer yes to all three, then we're in agreement. price tag can be adjusted.

sculpting was beyond neca's control too at one time. remember planet terror? how about kurt russel the stuntman? or we can go back to the early cult classics. anyone has john mcclane in their collection?

seems to me neca have taken control of that situation now. you think they couldn't do the same for paint app? rubbish.

i cant paint worth a damn. i prefer to give my money to neca and have them do it for me. :wink1:

For me the net really isn't a big deal like others. Even with a tear here and there it doesn't bother me much. It would be nice to get a HT type of netting but I could live with the net as is. I know the factory was acting like the cloth one wouldn't work so Randy send pix of the HT one. The factory will aways try to make it most easy on them. I can't blame them really and I think they did a fine job on the 19 inch P1.

Cool to know Randy is working the case though and apparently even took you by surprise going on your previous post. We'll see what happens.

Tankman, $15 figures kick ass. I havent had any probs with my pred except for my elder. His arm snapped at the elbow, but I mean again I just look at it like well its $15. I glued it he looks awesome as hell. No big deal. I have no complaints man, keep making kick as preds and i'll keep buying.

the cheap chicken wire looking netting , takes away from your great sculpt, and ruins it for me and many others, it's kinda like wraping a rolls royce in used tolilet paper.

Thanks and we've had many of those Elders and P1's snap like that. Seems like the factory is getting it together on series 4 and the joints are good to go. Sucks real bad the Elder has so many problems with the elbows. This stuff makes us sick really. I'm hoping series 5 and 6 won't have any of that snapping off crap. For what they are these guys are great and
I'm thinking about AVP1 even though I hated the look of the Predators in that movie. It would be fun to one up the old McFarlane figures. I really do enjoy doing that a lot.
