My TRU just got in the Accessory pack so I just picked one up and it was highly worth it just for the skinned victim body alone. I got him hanging on my shelf from a string. So cool and the other cool bonuses fit nicely in the display. Once I get more predators the skulls will go good and the plasma blasts are a cool effect and are being used.

I know - I was quite impressed with the accessory pack as well, despite the price. I plan on using some of the extra skulls for an Ash vs Evil Dead display. Maybe. And what would a skinned victim look like repainted as a dusty corpse? It's almost too bad they're bendable plastic - it'd be kind of fun to re-pose one as a groundbreaking zombie. :wink1:

Per Randy on Twitter:

Series 16 (Ghost, Stalker and Spiked Tail) Predators are now available in limited quantities on the NECA eBay and Amazon stores.

So I broke down and bought an AvP Chopper Predator the other day; I was really curious as to what I should expect from the Concrete Jungle Scarface. I've heard a lot of compliments of the newer Predator bucks, and wow. They are awesome. And so are the paint jobs. How horrible is it that I find these to be the best Predator figures NECA's produced and they come from the crappiest set of Predator movies? :rolleyes2

I'm suddenly not as keen on the Ultimate City Hunter as I once was. They're also using that translucent plastic, which for some reason I'm liking on the Preds...

For some reason I'm not surprised in a way. I dunno, Murphy's Law or something? Inferior films getting the superior figures.

At this point the quality of the neca alien figures is actually better then the ht ones..
Yeah for most part. I just hope Neca isn't dumb and skip the AVP for their 1/4 line.

I'm renaming it 'NECA's Law'. :lol

What must play into it is that they prioritised making the figures from the good movies first but of course as time goes on and they start bringing in improvements the crappier movies end up getting the benefit of those improvements first. One such improvement for me is the size of these AvP Preds. As far as I'm concerned the P1 and P2 figures should be this size but NECA seems to disagree so they're never going to give the P1 and P2 hunters that particular improvement.

And your NECA's Law manifests in a different way with Terminator - we're getting improved articulation with the current 'Ultimate' figures but for some reason they're making them all shorter than the previous figures - dramatically so in the case of the Motorcycle Cop T-1000. It's a frustrating inconsistency at best and making some of them look borderline unnatural. Some are saying the new Motorcycle Cop T-1000 looks 'fat' or 'gorilla-like' in his proportions and I can't disagree really - the old figure didn't look like that. So, again, a step forward in one respect but a step backward in another which sorta belies the 'ultimate' name IMO.

It's embarrassingly obvious on the Motorcycle Cop - I really feel for you guys. Regarding the Predator size, I'm in total agreement. The quality is so much better on these new bodies, I don't think I want to go back.

I'm even more excited for the Ultimate CH he has the exact same articulation of the AVP buck minus the separate/turn joint at the calf armor. It's going to be an amazing upgrade.

I still haven't bought any but I'm tempted. If I do I'll start with that 2 pack since it's presumably rarer than the figure waves. They're crap movies and inferior designs but I nevertheless feel some nostalgia for that time...I hesitate to say I was 'excited' because I'm sure I must have been a bit sceptical about the likely quality of the movie...but 'interested' would at least be accurate. And I lapped up the McFarlane offerings, I had zero restraint and selectivity back then.

I took the McFarlane ones out of the big box the other day but even if they weren't broken I couldn't bring myself to display them again - they just look so unbelievably dated and inaccurate to me, both the Aliens and the Predators. Tiny heads on the Aliens, bizarre proportions on the Predators with awful dreads and almost useless swivel joints. Cool diorama pieces though - that circular floor section and the sarcophagus with the facehugger victim. In a way I'd like to collect the NECA line just to make use of those again.

At this point the quality of the neca alien figures is actually better then the ht ones..

Considering Hot Toys Aliens have always

-fallen apart (broken knees, elbows, crumbling ankle joints)
-turned into ragdolls
-lost their sheen and become dry and matte looking
-suffered from paint flaking
-started to tear at the jaw tendons

I'd say this has always been true. And at least most of NECA's Aliens are pretty damn accurately sculpted.

I hope so. It's a new body that's smaller than the AvP ones, however. And I'm really digging the heft of these AvP bucks. They just feel much more solidly built. (And I don't mean to pull you back into the darkness that is AvP, a-dev. I'm personally sticking with Scarface from Concrete Jungle for now. My Chopper Pred. was just an experiment. I'm hoping those aren't famous last words... :lol)

I have every single AVP Release and no problems what's ever. Even Cloaked Scar.
