Exciting stuff going down in NECA land lately. If it truly is Hawkins (and it better be with that intro. Would be fairly cruel to go another direction after that) I think that is just the entry point. They are playing the 'tip' game. Make me think the rest of the squad is possible (will take YEARS no doubt, but eventually).

Just throwing this out there...

The actor who played Hawkins, Shane Black, went on to become a very successful screen play writer and movie director. He is co-writer and is directing the new Predator movie. I am not sure, at this point, if he would give his likeness rights for an action figure.

The share a Coke bottle may be Randy's way of telling us that he has been in talks of some kind with Shane. Possibly concerning figures for the new movie. But if that is the case, why combine it with clues for a different figure...

Or, this could all just be straight up double think on my part and they are simply making Hawkins...:lol

I think you're definitely on the right track here.

I immediately thought of the Shane Black directing The Predator connection too. Stands to reason if they're talking to him about figures for the new movie, they'd ask him about his likeness for Hawkins.

It's such a confusing tease though, well, once Randy suggested it didn't mean they were making Hawkins. He must of known we'd assume that.

In my mind, the folder accessory would suggest Dillion. It's what he cared about so much.

Then there's the M16. It wasn't his weapon, he used an MP5. But that could easily be completely unconnected.

Either way, we must be getting a new character, for it to be anything less would be too cruelly misleading.

I'm thinking it's Hawkins AND Dillion, Carl Weathers must've needed money.

Speaking of Weathers I saw all of the Rocky 4 at my TrU today they had a ton of them.

Also many CH Predators but no JH.

That would be sweet if Weathers finally gave his consent. Still not sure about Hawkins though. Shane Black has been very successful so you would think he is good financially. The nostalgia factor could possibly work with him however to where he would like to see a figure of himself from that movie. The guessing game continues...

Maybe they're making this team :lol

And the kid too.

Geez, I hope we get a Hawkins figure. Geez, I hope we get a Hawkins figure. :monkey3

How funny a troll would it be if it was just a bobble head of Hawkins instead along with the rest of the team in that format. :lol

They'll probably do it for John Connor as well - tease an image of a coke bottle saying 'John', and it turns out to be bobble head and the only way you can get it is by buying six bottles of coke at SDCC. Poor a-dev. :rotfl

Nah, Hot Toys will do the the entire team including the kid in 2025. :lol

Fixed for accuracy, he ain't making no Predator movie.

I didn't elaborate on the movie itself, just that he was making it and how it may tie in with the NECA figures. But concerning The Predator, you are most likely correct. It will probably not be anything that most of us would consider a true Predator movie.

It's got to suck being in an action movie knowing that no one wants a toy of your character.

The Predator team is my favorite soldier movie team of all time, and IMO, the best team from any of the 80's movies.

Having said that, I would love to have the whole team in figure form, but if I had to pick the team from most important to the least important member, it would look like this.

1. Dutch
2. Dillon
3. Blain (with MTV shirt)
4. Billy
5. Mac
6. Poncho
7. Hawkins

I would not start the team with Hawkins at all, unless he comes with another guy like Billy.

Of course he'd be lowest priority but if it's just going nowhere with the others maybe it's worth trying Hawkins and then, I dunno, being able to show Dutch and Hawkins to Carl Weathers on his twitter to maybe persuade him on board too. Just today I noticed Randy retweeting someone's Dillon custom to Carl Weather's page. To be fair to him he does know the demand and he is trying to get Weather's on board at least.

Sadly I don't think we'll ever complete the team though. Hot Toys weren't allowed use Sonny Landham's likeness for Billy and this is the company that managed to get Jack Nicholson and Peter Weller to an agreement...granted the Billy figure was earlier days when maybe Hot Toys had less spending power and clout. Maybe they could do it now except they're barely arsed with 80s licenses anymore. Jesse Ventura is another one who I could see being awkward.

Could be some method to the madness though. With the audience desperate for 'anything', give them a 'little something' and they will eat it up. Start with the least popular character when the audience is starved and work your way up. As the newness of the idea gradually wears off, the ever increasing popularity of characters fills the gap and that way you have a steady stream of interest.

If they did it the other way, with important/popular characters first, everyone blows their load and loses interest by the time the lesser characters come later.

Overall I think the theory about NECA already working with Shane Black and the new film is probably the only reason Hawkins *may* happen. May not be part of a grand scheme at all, but would be nice if it were.
