Yea.. Is it just me or do these figures look a lot more detailed than the others?

They're 2-up Prototypes.

I kind of remembered that the human figures are going to be the same size as the engineers.That is going to be a bummer

No, they're not going to be the same size...nobody ever said that.

They're going to be a couple of inches shorter than the Engineer fig.

I ordered series 2 on the strength of series 3.

The possibility is definitely true. the information came directly from randy falk (head of product development at neca).
Here's the deal:
prometheus series 2 (david8 and the deacon w/ hammerpedes) is 100% happening. In fact, series 2 just shipped to retail. david and the deacon should be on shelves late feb/early march.

Prometheus series 3, should it be released, will be comprised of Dr. Shaw and Infected Fifield (2 ups pictured in this thread). Series 3 is planned, but not at all a certainty. If series 2 does well enough...ie... sales hold firm or pick up a bit, series 3 will happen. If sales of series 2 slip anymore than series 1, series 3 will not happen. Randy said that sales for the prometheus line havent been poor, they just havent been where they want them to be. To quote randy, sales have been "marginal".

Assuming sales for series 2 and series 3 are acceptable, Neca has 4 more prometheus figures designed and ready to roll: Holloway w/ infected and uninfected heads, vickers, holographic pressure suit engineer, and holographic chair suit engineer.

I think its fairly realistic to assume that the line will get to series 3. Anything beyond that seems like wishful thinking to me. I certainly hope we get series 3. It would be a shame if Dr. Shaw never sees the light of day (how does that even happen?!).
Basically, if the line looks at all interesting to you, BUY the figures. I just preordered a case of series 2

It never even occurred to me that those could be figures but it makes total sense with the way they rerelease all the stealth mode predators

Cool to hear vickers is up next... I hope we get that far....

I don't know how I feel about the deacon, I was looking forward to it, but now it looks "meh"... doesn't capture it's decrepit looks, maybe it just needs proper posing.

yeah. i think it is a matter of getting the deacon into the right position. I agree, he looks a bit awkward standing straight up, but if you look at the pictures of the deacon figure on his knees (comes with a stand for this reason), he looks much better. Plus the deacon comes with 2 hammerpedes and an infected engineer head. nice!
If we make it to series 3, i really hope that infected fifield comes with an urn as an accessory. Randy intimated that might be the case, but never stated it outright. i think an urn would be an awesome accessory.

Maybe NECA should release at least 3 figures at a time instead of 2. It would be more exciting for fans IMO. It's too drawn out again IMO to release only 2 at a time. It might help sales to do 3.

I think series 2 sales will be at least as good or better than series 1. David is definitely the fan-fav character and the Deacon is this movie's xeno. I'd be more worried about Fifield's clogging the pegs in series 3. Seems like most people don't care for the design (of the character, not the figure).

I think YoNose is correct. Prometheus series 2 may be the sleeper series of the line. I could see it topping series 1 in sales. Not everyone liked the design of the engineers (i loved them) and, as yonose said, david is the most liked character in the entire film + Deacon is the xeno-esque creature in the film. Sales could maybe rebound a bit. i certainly hope so.
Cant wait for my neca prome. S2 pre-orders to arrive. come on!
