Great news. Now, I just hope 'Carnival of Light' makes it out one day as well....

Love was great because they weren't re-recordings but the original masters. It's when old men record new parts to existing trascks that may not have ever been completed for a reason where i get worried.

But seriously though i'm not trying to be a negative person here i just really love the Beatles and don't want to see any tarnish on that perfect catalog.

You did it again!

Beatin' coming! :thwak

:D

:wave

I would also like to point out that a 70 something year old George Martin added strings to While My Guitar Gently Weeps on the LOVE album :D

Come on Hot Toys, we want these guys!!!

Off-topic: What version of the Re-Mastered editions are you guys buying? Mono or Stereo?

Stereo. Every single one. I already have the original CD releases so I could care less about the mono. I think it is pompus hype which prompts people to stick to the mono... :D

Lets be honest. The Beatles are pretty much tarnish-proof. :lol

:lecture

I really enjoy Free As A Bird and Real Love quite a lot. Even if it's not their best, I'd love to hear any and all "new" and reworked material.

Can't wait for Beatles Rock Band :rock

So, do you think the stereo versions of the re-masters will sound BETTER then the mono versions??

Well if by better you mean representative of a live setting, then yes I do. I like to hear more separation of sound in a recording.

then why is everyone saying that the mono-versions are the way to go? (Other then the fact, that they are the original versions)

Is there any other advantage to mono over stereo? Or vice versa?

thanks.

To out in basic terms, a mono mix has the same sound coming out of the left speaker as whats coming out of the right. Like so:

L&R speakers: John (guitars & vocals)) Paul (Bass, piano and vocals)George (guitars and vocals) Ringo (drums and percussion and vocals)

Where as stereo has the sound separation and remixing which makes this possible:

L: John (Vocal dub 1 and harmony, and guitar dub 1,3,5) Paul (vocal dub 1 and harmony Bass dub 1,2) George (lead guitar, guitar dub 1, background vocals) and Ringo (Drum dub 1)

R: John (vocal dub 2 & 3 with guitar dub 2&4) Paul Vocal dub 2&3 and bass dub 2) George (guitar deb 3&4) and Ringo (drum dub 2&3 with percussion track)

You can only imagine the level of seperation if the mix is 5.1 or 7.1 instead of 2.1 (stereo).

Does that make sense?

Yeah, kinda what a buddy at work was explaining to me tonight. So, your recommendation would be the stereo versions then huh?

thanks bud. :)

P.S. are you gonna buy the stereo boxset or the CD's individually?

I have the stereo set pre-ordered from Amazon. I already have the Capitol box sets with both the stereo and mono versions.

Pix, are you buying the individual discs or the box set?

I might just go ahead and order the boxset as well. Is it cheaper that way? I have to add it up and find out.

Batty, you recommend the stereo versions over the mono versions as well?

I'm not sure if buying them individually is cheaper or not. I'm just a sucker for box sets...Especially when it comes to The Beatles.

I do recommend the stereo versions for the reasons Marc pointed out, although I understand the purists who want the mono versions. I have a friend who's buying both sets. :google

Does amazon take the money at time of order or when it ships?

When it ships.

Its 16 albums which (at discount) are $13 each. So that comes out to $208 before taxes. So I guess it is a tiny bit cheaper.

Does this come with anything that the separate releases don't come with?
