Looks good to me, Flosi! As for the size what if you essentially made two torches like that and glued them end to end and then covered the seam with one of the wraps?

...The project is alll about covering seams it seems. :dunno

That's exactly what I'm doing right now. It's coming out pretty good. Pics in a few.

And here's the 'shirt+skirt' look:

I think what you have here is solid. :rock Once it's dyed it'll be the perfect outfit!

Ah! Bamboo sishkabob sticks!!

Genius!

go to the floral section in a craft shop and get the dried grasses or twigs etc.. that is what I used when I did the custom torches for Faststreets months ago... they came out pretty decent... dont know if I have any photos on my computer still

I like that, Flosi. Is that the hasbro torch fire on there? It actually loks pretty good. Also, how do you do the turban?

No, layers of hot glue with yellow and a little red prismacolor marker in between layers.

Xander, I'm bbqing, but do a search for the Map Room Indy thread I started awhile back. Pretty sure I pasted a tutorial for turban tying in there.

I'm starting to get the hang of this iPhone forum app. Not too shabby.

Nice stuff, Flosi. Two weeks and you got yourself a Sallah!

Thanks, Mando. Some dye and padding and futzing and I think it will work. Worth a go; it's definitely the right parts.

Exactly right. I saw those when I picked up my dowel and plan to go back and use them.

Is there any other way to create a translucent flame on a torch or a candle? Maybe with some plastic that has a low melting point?

I'm trying to place a flame on this candle...

Oh... misread. :lol

Yep, that can add more to your price, but still for a custom project this one is fairly low-cost.

Sculpt + paint always ends up at around $100 base cost for any custom. But starting there, if your total cost ends up at $140 that's pretty damn good for a OOAK (or maybe 1-of-8 if you count all us other guys with similar builds).
