Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I'd love to have one classic and one in red... Hmm. May have to save! :horror

It's impossible for me to nail down variants of Tom's costumes to just one or two so I'll just say I'd be in for whichever ones are made.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I want three basic full figures Robot, Destiny, and Logopolis. Everything else can be an expansion pack as far as I'm concerned.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

So wait, have they only been sending out the signature editions? Does this mean they don't have the non-signature editions in stock?

The pattern on the Fourth waistcoat is absolutely spot on although the cravat could be less orange.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I thought they had already started on 10? :...(

They're sending out signature and limited editions. In other words, they're filling all direct orders. The retail orders will wait a little more.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

From the horses mouth...

Amy Pond - female figure being retooled
Tenth Doctor - next release for pre-order in September
Fourth Doctor - early October pre-order

And a few others in the works...

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Sweet! Can't wait to see 10.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Great news 10 and 4 are both figures I will definitely have to consider, all in all this could be a very good line, all those doctors + companions + monsters = lots of potential.

On a side note, we should have a poll on which doctors we would definitely buy, another for companions and one for monsters.

Thanks, that's great news. We can expect these in 2014, right?:)

If Ten and Four are as good as Eleven, and I have no reason to think they wouldn't be, then consider them already ordered. :lol

Figured we'd have to get some sort of an announcement next month, didn't expect two so close together though.

As for which Doctors I'd buy, as asked by a fellow collector above - short answer - all of them. Hell, although I doubt they'd ever be made, I'd even buy Cushing and Hurndall (but only after all the others had been done first, of course).

Actually, a Hurndall head sculpt would be a great idea for a head pack, once the First Doctor has been made. I doubt he would have enough widespread collector interest to justify a full release on his own on the high end market (I'm still nervous about some of the official Doctors in that regard to be honest), but a head sculpt release might be a great way to give the option of piecing one together to the hardcore Whovian collectors, without too much risk on Big Chief's part. Still, I imagine we've a long way to go until that bridge is crossed anyway...

I actually think Hartnell would make a nice, fitting release for the 50th anniversary in November next year, but I don't know how practical that would actually be, especialy while they are still building the line's foundations at this stage.

As for who I personally most want to see, not counting Eleven, and the upcoming Ten and Four. For me that's the Second Doctor and the Sixth Doctor, however I'd imagine I'll be waiting quite a while indeed for at least one of those, even if the line does well, is embraced by collectors enough to prove profitable, and has longterm legs. I'd imagine that Colin Baker, right along with Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann, are a lot closer to the bottom of the production list than they are to the top. Although McCoy's role in The Hobbit might give him a nice boost if it is well recieved by fans.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Not sure if I'd buy a Simm Master. I'm actually quite a fan of Simm as an actor, but not so much from his turn as The Master. I'd definitely buy DelGado and Ainley though. If I already had DelGado and Ainley, then I might buy Simm just to complete the set of multi-appearance Masters. But this price point makes one picky by necessity.

Lethbridge-Stewart is a must. In fact him and Leela are my most wanted companions/supporting characters personally. Sarah Jane would be another must have. I suspect that Romana II, Ace, Rose, and Jo Grant would all be solid contenders, anyone else, to me, feels like a blind roll of the dice. Not saying others aren't worthy, just that if it were my money on the line, anyone beyond the Doctors themselves, and the most beloved and iconic companions would feel like a hell of a risk.

I mean personally I'd love Benton as well, but again even though the character is generally liked I'm not sure the popularity is there at this price point for his character. I'd buy him, and be very happy to do so, but I don't know if enough others would. And at the end of the day any pieces that don't meet sales expectations do more harm than good to the long term prospects of the line.

Same with the likes of Harry Sullivan, Romana 1, Martha Jones, Nyssa, Rory, or even earlier, well liked companions like Jamie and Zoe, or a lot of the villains/monters as well. Love to be proven wrong though.

Exciting times ahead, regardless. And I'd kill for a Genesis Davros to face off against Doctor #4 on my shelf one day.

Del Gado would be the best Master to have. I'd actually rank Simm #2, simply because I'd feel comfortable posing Del Gado next to any Old Who Doctor, even though that's not strictly correct.

I can wait on a Davros since I have the radio controlled one.

Romana #1 in that white fur stole would just be amazing. I preferred her to #2, even though Tom married #2. I think her performance was so much more powerful. A shame she was only there for such a short time.

The Brigadier would be major. (No pun admitted.) But I think we'd have to get pretty far down the line to think about Sullivan, let alone Benton!

I'd be very unlikely to buy a 6 or 7. I find their episodes unwatchable.
