Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Just received my 11...I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. In hand, it looks ten times better than the prototype IMO. And I'm surprised how fast and well packaged it came. I've yet to put him together, but just out of the box he looks perfect. Big Chief have really got off to a great start.

Can't wait to see and PO 10 :rock

Working on my review now... but in short.. buy it while you can.

They knocked it clean outa the park!

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Just read the post from BC, great to see them engaging in a conversation with fans. It's hard to argue with someone who has all the financial information when you don't, but I would still respectfully disagree with them about the pricing. Although the figure appears to be of a high quality it still falls slightly short of Hot Toys sculpting, paintwork and outfit quality. That's why it feels overpriced to me, even though I have to accept the arguments of someone who has a spread sheet in front of them showing just what everything cost.

I'd never claim it was a rip off or anything like that, but I do question whether all those accessories were necessary, and the extra stand, especially as you are doing expansion packs. I generally only want a great figure and one key accessory; could you not have provided this at a lower cost, say £125, and then given collectors the chance to acquire the accessories separately if they wanted them? This could then have been a purchase I could have jumped straight into rather than one that makes me purse my lips and think hmmmm, not sure.

I don't mean to be negative - I'd love to own this figure and wish you all the best, but in the current climate a figure that I perceive to be 15-20% overpriced is likely to stay unbought.

I get where you are coming from, but for a new company starting out and with such a low edition size, the price seems to be pretty much on the money.

And he can be got in the US for a lot less than $250 to $300-

TFAW have him for $159.99- https://www.tfaw.com/Profile/Doctor-Who-11th-Doctor-1-6-Scale-Figure___405526

or BBTS have him available for $199.99- https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=BCS10000&mode=retail

Is 2000 a small edition size? Also, what's the cheapest he can be got for in the UK?

The wait until WhoNA get this is going to see like forever. :tap

Well if you look at Loki who must be up to all kinds of thousands by now...also, from the archive,

Q from From Russia With Love
JAWS from The Spy Who Loved Me
JAMES BOND from Thunderball

I know that these are from yesteryear, and they are not BCS or even HT but they do point to sold out edition sizes, and the 11th Doctor falls well below this, so I'd say that YES 2000 is a very small worldwide release edition indeed.

Well it seems to be a pretty tight grip on the £149.99 price point at the 4 different places I tried.

1/6 Bruce (Just to start) says £149.99, as do Forbidden Planet International, Forbidden Planet.com (don't be fooled, they are different companies), and Order 66. They all follow suit.

Good to hear. Hopefully mine should show up soon too then...

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Are these showing up in the states yet? Every site I've been to still has them as "pre-order".
Has anyone ordered from TFAW? How was/is their service?

Only direct orders are shipping at this point, not retailers.

I'd also like to know about TFAW, if anyone has experience with them. That would have been about a $70 savings! :slap

All things being equal, mine will be here tomorrow.:yess: I can't remember being this excited about a delivery from the uk.

Thanks. See, I would pull the trigger on this if it was just a little less, but with £12.50 postage, it comes in just slightly too much.

Isn't 2000 a large edition size these days? Maybe I'm just out of touch with collecting. I do know that I really hate scare stories about figures going up in value. We'll know that when it happens.

In real terms 2000 is a small edition size for a world wide release, if it sells out (and I sincerely hope it does) they could re-release with a different expression or alternate outfit.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Well, I don't know. I don't think anyone buys figures expecting them to go up in value anymore. Those days are long gone I think.

As for the question of possibly 2000 being a large size...I bet It's a darn site less than Loki, Thor, Cap:A, Spidey or any of the other HT or Medicom lines. Loki in particular must be into his third full production run by now and I bet each one is more than 2000. The actual number is really immaterial. In his case (as well as the other AVENGERS) their notion of "Limited Edition" is - as has been stated many times in these threads - actually limited to how many they think that they can continue to successfully sell, as evidenced by the ludicrous situation where Loki's 'remaining stock' number has gone from 60, to 30, to 10, then back up to 30, then 10 again, then back up to 50...now it's down to "...less than 30"

It's actually a very brave move on BCS' part to state the edition size from the word go, too. I wonder when the likes of Medicom or HT actually did this. I know SSC used to, that's why I used them as an exemplar...with figures I own.

Agreed, NEVER buy as an investment, these are plastic figures based on pop culture icons. Fashion and taste can turn on a sixpence. Just think back to the ridiculous prices paid for beanie babies!

If you want to make a decent return invest in gold, if you want some fun surround yourself with things that make your heart sing.

Exactly! :exactly::clap

Whenever I read a post bemoaning a high edition size or a re-release I just have to think some people are buying these things for the wrong reasons!
