Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I actually far prefer Romana I over Romana II as well, I just think that, generally speaking, Romana II seems more ingrained into the iconography of classic who for both the general public/casual fans and for a lot of classic era Whovians.

Now how much of that has to do with the tempestuous relationship between Lalla Ward and Tom Baker, and how much is due to the Doctor/companion onscreen chemistry and character relationship, well, one can only speculate. But it certainly helped sear her into a prominent part of his Doctor Who era in a lot of people's minds either way. And to my mind, probably makes her an easier sell as far as collectibles based on nostalgia and iconography go.

But hey, just my take on it. I might be way off base in my thinking, or simply over-thinking this stuff too much.

I'm in the US, so what's in the iconography over here is pretty limited. I couldn't say how people in a civilized country think of the Tom Baker years. I just know Romana #1 was prettier, a better actress, my favorite of the two, and she had that awesome white stole!

But I'd bet they'd sell even numbers as a 1/6.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I liked both Romana's a lot but I preferred the second by a fairly wide margin. I just liked the way she played off of the 4th Doctor more. Their relationship was spiky but more affectionate. Which I liked just a bit more.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

For me Sarah is the only must have companion, though there are several I'd like. But as far the Romanas go, it's 1 for sure. I never cared for the second Romana and I've tried: ( . But if BC ever produces Mary Tamm's Romana I'd buy her in a second just because it's Mary Tamm's Romana.

From the horses mouth...

Amy Pond - female figure being retooled
Tenth Doctor - next release for pre-order in September
Fourth Doctor - early October pre-order

And a few others in the works...

This type of thing is going to keep you very popular indeed :clap

I can tell you now, the Tennant and Baker Doctor Signature Editions, well you might as well just consider them PO'ed by me already. My Doctor's era fell right at the end of Patrick Troughton's run and into Jon Pertwee's (I don't recall any Troughton episodes specifically but I remember the change over to JonP) and then of course Tom's run. I began to lose interest a little when he left and Peter took over.

I just wonder what will happen with the signature Edition when it comes to Doctor's 1, 2, and 3? What worthwhile extra can be included to justify it?

The Master (Delgado especially) would be a great addition too.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

The only companion I'd consider buying is Leela - great iconic outfit, great character and she came in right at absolute peak of classic Who, a real golden age. It would also remind me of the Denys fisher figure.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Personally not interested in the 1:4 stuff at all. 1:6 action man scale is just the ticket for me.

Louise Jameson is by far the best actress to have played a companion as she's been in so many successful series on UK television since she left the TARDIS behind whereas most others tend to disappear almost without trace.

She's also been outstanding in her various returns to the role of Leela for Big Finish especially the recent series with Tom.

However much people love the companions - and I adore Ian and Barbara - they don't necessarily make the most exciting 12 inch figures. I could see a Planet of the Spiders Sarah Jane working (with spider) although the image rights might be nightmarish to obtain. Beyond that only Leela would look really visually appealing. K9 obviously, and maybe the Brigadier but most other companions would just look like vintage dollies.

BC, can you say when the eleventh doctor expansion packs will be released? Also, what are we looking at for Four - a separate hatted head, removeable hairpiece, or just one head with a hatted head being left for expansion packs?

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Better question: When will the 11 expansion packs go up for pre-order?

You may have a point there but I'm covered for the ones I want most even if Big Chief don't make them so it's not something I'm concerned about.

A question for those that have the 11th Doctor figure,

What's the base body like?

Is it good or like something from Sideshow?

:lol

This is not bcm77. (regardless that they post from similar IP addresses) :lecture

WTF is your problem?

I come here in all innocence to talk about figures and you continually try to stir the pot by suggesting I'm someone you seem have a strange obsession with.

Whatever your own inadequacies are don't try and take them out on me when all I'm doing is trying to talk about stuff I'm intrested in.

I don't like people who get banned and then try to come back under new names.

Even if that were the case, which it isn't you don't appear to have any power as a mod so should mind your own business.

Or you could just put me on ingore like you said you were going to. I just think everyone should be aware that you are the guy who has been banned from 3 different sites for trolling. I have made the mods aware. That is how I know you both have similar IP addresses and the matter will be forwarded on to Dave for his review.

Whatever, I'll enjoy my hobby just fine no matter what.
