Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!
But the demand is far less too - much as I'd love Doctor Who to be the world's number 1 franchise it isn't, whereas The Avengers currently is, and Marvel and DC characters are always up there as global icons.
2000 seems about right for me, they'll sell them all sooner or later, but I'd be amazed if it was ever super-scarce, and people have time to think or save or have second thoughts or whatever. Which is, frankly, perfect!
Totally agree that figures are a poor investment... and should be a poor investment, they should be about fun not hoarding and profiting.
Well, I don'y know. I don't think anyone buys figures expecting them to go up in value anymore. Those days are long gone I think.
As for the question of possibly 2000 being a large size...I bet It's a darn site less than Loki, Thor, Cap:A, Spidey or any of the other HT or Medicom lines. Loki in particular must be into his third full production run by now and I bet each one is more than 2000. The actual number is really immaterial. In his case (as well as the other AVENGERS) their notion of "Limited Edition" is - as has been stated many times in these threads - actually limited to how many they think that they can continue to successfully sell, as evidenced by the ludicrous situation where Loki's 'remaining stock' number has gone from 60, to 30, to 10, then back up to 30, then 10 again, then back up to 50...now it's down to "...less than 30"
It's actually a very brave move on BCS' part to state the edition size from the word go, too. I wonder when the likes of Medicom or HT actually did this. I know SSC used to, that's why I used them as an exemplar...with figures I own.
