Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

We need to jump in a TARDIS and start banning some certain people here who come and just ***** and harass people. It's getting somewhat out of hand with the warnings and repeated behavior.

You can't enjoy a topic without getting pissed off because 1 person can't get a grasp on their behavior.

Sorry.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I wish BC would release pricing on their accessory sets. It's kind of put me in a weird position, because I want to buy a second 11th Doctor figure... but I don't know how much the accessory packs are. With the news that CO are discontinuing the 5'' line, I might actually have more money to throw into this line now. But if the accessory packs are a bit too pricey for me, I don't know if I want a second figure. But if I don't get a second figure now, will I be able to buy one later?

There's no guarantee of the secondary market for these either, to just buy a second and then sell it off if I don't end up needing it. Maybe I should just get one Doctor figure and change out the outfit from time to time. Hmmm...

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Judging by similarly priced items in the market, I would budget at least $100 for each accessory set, provided it has one headsculpt, a clothing set and a molded accessory.

How much do you think the extra body's would run?

$40??? Just like all the other bodies out there.

Realistically, they're probably wanting to price it higher to recoup their cost faster, but no one's going to buy a body that's more than $50 unless it says Hot Toys on it.

So roughly $150 for a whole other figure. That's not horrible by any means.

It can be kind of hard to keep up with the news because of how this thread is structured so sorry if this has been asked before but any word on the 10th? I have no real interest in the 11th Doctor figures and it sounded like the 10th was supposed to go up for preorder soon?

Hoping they do the 9th soon. He was awesome.

Nothing on 10 or 4 yet.

I used to think this until I saw it in hand. Because it's quality and it's Doctor Who I now think it'll be relatively easy to get for about a year and then climb steeply in value.

And shortly after it will drop steeply in value, just like all the RTD era stuff...

How you can equate a higher end smaller edition sized 1:6 fig to a cheaply produced product that saturated the market for 5 years? I think you'll find yourself wrong. Not that it matters much to me anyway.

But the RTD era never had anything like the caliber of these figures.

No high end 1/6 figures but other high end collectibles, like the MFX sonic, prints by Department Six, medals etc. Anyone buying these things nowadays? Don't think so. Also, the CO Tardis console used to sell for 100 -200, now you're lucky if you get 20. People are fickle, as soon as the Moff era is over the market will be flooded with related collectibles. Plus, people have become more miserly in general, they don't seem to be willing to spend as much as they used to on such things.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Well right or wrong I don't care. I don't plan on selling mine. People are fickle. Others are just plain pessimistic.

Seems there is a lot of crystal ball gazing going on, but it's all conjecture... and hindsight is a dangerous thing.
Que Sera, Sera, my advice is buy it if you can afford it, enjoy it for what it is. If you are not interested in it move along, there's nothing for you here!

:goodpost:

That should be a required mantra for every thread.

Wise words Wooks, wise words indeed! :clap

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I think there is a difference with 1/6 though. I doubt we'll ever see Who done in high end 1/6 ever again [Apart from Big Cheif] but props and prints and the small figures will always be done.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Yeah, there's only around 7-8 million RTD era figures in existence as opposed to 2000 of these...

I totally agree with Wookster, but I was responding to someone who was thinking of buying a second figure, and as I understand it just wanted to be sure they'd get their original money back if it turned out to be cheaper to buy the expansion packs - not someone desperate to make a large profit.
