Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Yeah, there's only around 7-8 million RTD era figures in existence as opposed to 2000 of these...

I totally agree with Wookster, but I was responding to someone who was thinking of buying a second figure, and as I understand it just wanted to be sure they'd get their original money back if it turned out to be cheaper to buy the expansion packs - not someone desperate to make a large profit.

Yes, and only 250 of the MFX sonic have been made...

You don't know if they'd be able get their original money back though. RTD era stuff doesn't even fetch half of the original price anymore and I suspect it will be the same with Moff era stuff. That's just my opinion, time will tell if I'm right or not.

I don't think any of us collect figures as an investment portfolio, if we do I think we may be getting bad advice. We collect because we like the figures and if they go up in value...great, if they go down, I'm not selling anyway!:lecture

Yeah, I don't either. I'm not planning to sell any Moff era stuff. But then I wasn't planning to sell any RTD era stuff...as most people that got/are getting rid of it. I never bought anything with the intention to make any profit but it would have been nice to get some money back instead of having to give it away for peanuts. I think it's understandable that after that experience I am very careful what I collect and cynical about the alleged value of certain collectibles.

This, this, very much this. This is not the field for collecting valuable pieces. Whilst you demonstrate a reasonable attitude to collecting such things, you have mentioned recouping your investment 3 times in three posts.

Plus it leads to the mean-spiritedness of people opposing rereleases for really hard to find items on the grounds that it will devalue their own figures, rather than being happy for the people that will be able to buy them

TFAW no longer shows a listing for the 11th Doctor, looks like his preorder sold out through them as well.

:yess:

Glad this seems to selling well. I hope it bodes well for the future.

Yeah, considering the 5" line is going away these might be the only DW figures I collect. Mine is processing for shipment, how about yours PT?

Just reading your post gave me a thought.
I canceled the last two orders of co figures, which will technically be their last in this scale. Maybe I should just get them, so that my co line is 100% complete.

In mean time , just checking BC site daily for news on 10 and 4... Tick tock.

My status just says "pre-ordered". :monkey2

Go for it man, might as well have the entire CO line.

Yeah. If they were continuing, I wouldn't bother. But as these will be the last two sets, I might as well.

Yep, that's it exactly. Basically, I was just trying to figure out if it was better to play it safe and buy a second just in case I want to buy the accessory packs... or it was better just to wait for pricing on those and hope I can get a second.

I don't want to make a profit, I just don't want to be stuck with a second figure (if I don't need it) that I can't sell at cost. Still kind of undecided. But I'm trying to save up to buy a house in a while, and I already have quite a few big ticket items I'm paying for... so I think I'm just going to get the one for now. If I feel really moved to get a second down the road, I'll do it. Or I can try to cobble one together with pieces. :)

Classics are continuing in the 5'' scale. From what I've heard there should be a decent chunk of them coming in the 50th Anniversary year.
