Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

When I made suggestions for future figures or asked about payment options and such, they always replied really quick. When I asked to cancel a figure I got no reply. Make of that what you will.

Were you ever able to cancel the figure?

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

No. But if they send me an invoice next year I'm just not gonna pay, I suspect they won't send it then.

Okay. Wow. That's bad. Small business or not, there's no excuse.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I cancelled my Amy as I was unconvinced about the
Scuplt and with prices what they are now. I never received conformation but its listed as cancelled on my account.

The other guys who complained about communication do have a point but big chief really seem to care about the product and in sure they will sort issues with damaged figures etc. After all they're new and need this to suceed to allow them to survive. As others have said I sure they are working hard to get the next figure launched so they can start to generate cash flow etc

If they don't sort it open a claim
You can Always close it

I've seen some better sculpts on Amy recently. Apparently they had to find another manufacturer and that is what has caused the delays. The amy that was at SDCC was not the final production version.
Im torn about the companions in general. I know I want the Doctors but do we really need a bunch of companions at the same time? I say Doctors 1st then additional characters. Get the core stuff out of the way.

Well, like I said before, it's really cool that they're planning on releasing all these characters (and we've already seen what I assume are prototypes of expansion pack heads, the 10th Doctor, etc), but if you're such a small business with EXTREMELY limited staff (2-3 guys answering emails in regards to a figure from an insanely popular franchise), why the heck are they trying to do so much so fast? If too many things go wrong, they're setting themselves up for a major failure, and then we'll lose out on all the other Doctors and companions. I dunno. I didn't major in business, but it seems odd to me. :dunno I wish they would have waited a little so they could concentrate on 11 (and the quality issues that are popping up). If you want to keep your customers happy, that means prompt responses not only to positive communication such as orders and product suggestions, but also to more negative ones in which the customer needs to make a cancellation, return, exchange, etc. Otherwise the bad PR is going to start rolling in.

I mean, there's this guy on Big Chief's FB who's apparently been trying to get an adjuster clip for the Doctor's suspenders (it was missing) since late September. No customer complaints should take over a month to process.

I emailed them a few months ago, asking when they would have Diamond stocked and ready to ship, and they replied to my email the very next day in length thanking me and letting me know when they had shipped out to DCD. No communication problems so far on my end...

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

It probably is a case of being overwhelmed due to staffing shortages.

I'm quite positive this is the case. That said, they obviously NEED to hire at least one more person.

If the job market in Europe is anything like it currently is in the US, I'm sure they could find some people willing to work for minimum wage. Or heck, unpaid internships, which I dislike, but...

Yes. If you're reading this Big Cheif, hire me!

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I would volunteer to answer e-mails for them if I got free figures for life.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I'm hearing a lot of complaining here in a very short of space of time from one or two people who are talking as if they've been ripped off, when actually they have only been waiting for a few days for a response.

Maybe BC are on holiday...? People in america might not realise it, but the school half-term holiday started here on wednesday and will continue for another week. Or maybe they are urgently checking to see how widespread the bow tie staining problem is (never heard of it before the US consignment was shipped). Or maybe they are urgently trying to arrange replacements.

Anyone who paid by Paypal has 45 days to make a claim so they will, without question, get their money back if that's what they want. You should be patient, wait, try again in a week, if you hear nothing back in the next -I don't know, 14-21 days - then by all means make a claim. But I just can't imagine BC not dealing with your problem within 45 days.

Either way, let's not have people whining on about it continuously. Whine about it if you hear nothing in a month's time.

As for missing buttons or broken braces, well, unfortunately these are extremely accurate and therefore delicate high-end figures, some buttons fell off ours pretty much instantly, as for the braces, fix it yourself if you can. The red marks on the HS I would take more seriously. Hopefully BC have factored in some replacements in their costings and will replace the heads. In wanting this dealt with I'd be in agreement with posters here if my kids figure had those issues. But - give them a chance.

All this 'they've expanded too quickly stuff'... I'll take it seriously when the people making those comments can show me when they've started a company from scratch and produced a Hot Toys quality figure on their first attempt, working not from the Orient but from Birmingham UK. Bottom line, if BC weren't making these figures nobody would be, and nobody would be doing it as well.

Exactly. If we are not patient and start demanding instant gratification all we are going to do is ensure that this will be the first AND LAST figure they do. Give them time to make things right. 1 day or 1 week is not "giving someone time". I know its an investment but some investment is for the long term also. By buying these figures we are investing in the future of the line!

I work in a customer service-related field. When you receive a complaint, you don't go off and do a bunch of research or arrange stuff behind the scenes to fix their issue. You respond to the customer ASAP and let them know you will resolve their issue as soon as possible. I'm not saying BC has to respond to complaints within 20 minutes, but if any of those things you listed above are true, they need to hire someone who understands CS.

I love how criticism and discussion in regards to whether or not a company with an insanely popular franchise and only, what, two people doing most of the work (according to Big Chief) is a wise business decision is "whining." When they aren't responding to a person's issue of a missing part for over a month, I'd say some criticism is in order. Just because what they did was impressive - the whole small business, starting from scratch, yadda yadda enter inspirational story here - doesn't make me thrilled with what I'm reading about their CS (not just in this forum). But I made the choice to support them and buy the signed edition figure, and I'm just hoping it doesn't come back to bite me in the butt. When another user here tells me "you probably won't get a reply," what does that tell you about how some people view BC?

Am I the only one getting sick of all the whining at the consumers whenever BC makes a mistake?

It's a great figure. It IS HT quality. I do believe these 2 guys want to take care of people and deliver a quality experience, but these guys are making a lot of mistakes. They are often not getting back to people as quickly as they should. It is completely reasonable for those who do run into problems to share them here. No one should exaggerate, but real problems are real problems. They took care of my problem, but only after I had PayPal intervene, and even then they dragged their heels about it. They're understaffed. Good intentions are good, but being understaffed is not.

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt, but call our spades spades and NOT go on and on criticizing customers when BC doesn't get back to them at the speed we would hope.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I'm guessing that some of the disappontment with the customer service might have to do with how responsive BC were here on the boards while the Matt and Amy figures were in development. Their replies were fairly prolific all during that process, and have now become pretty much non-existant. It went from being a relatively personal relationship to radio silence. It may have given a false impression of how available BC were going to be to the consumers.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Captain Britain, with all due respect there have been people waiting for over a month for stuff. Just look at the Facebook page. The same names posting on that page are the same people who have been waiting to get issues resolved for over a month. A customer can only contact a business so many different ways. You can't blame them for feeling abandoned.

I'm not going to drag this out because people know my feeling on it.

Well, as for whining etc. It seems to be the nature of the forum to do so !! Brits are well known for complaining about everything - mostly the weather!!!
Its a safe place to vent at times. I try to take everything in its stride. If something is broken, fix it. Things break.
If there is a real issue, like two left arms or something, then yeah, thats a problem and I am sure it will be sorted. These things aint cheap, so you expect good quality. However there are probably no products manufactured anywhere that can claim to have had zero defects.
Back to complaining. Lets face it, it is interesting to read about issues and resolves.
I havent heard of anyone who had an issue with HT unresolved - even to the extent of having tumbers exchanged.
