I've heard it too, but its a general complaint across the industry that was voice a while ago and people don't pile on in every thread about it.

The latest SSC and HT threads aren't littered with people pointing it out.

If this is one's first rodeo I can see pointing it out, but for experienced collectors to act as if this is grossly worse than the normal figure is totally disingenuous, IMO.

I only point this out because I think its unfair to grill a tiny company for things SSC and HT can't even get right and get the pass. In the end your going to make it seem like this company is worse than it really is, people are going to pass and then the line stops and then where we all be?

At least allow them to play on a level field.
They have experience in the industry. As they've said in the past, they have very talented people working for them. They know right from wrong and know what fans will and won't like.

I just think we should tread lightly and even lean on the side of kid gloves right now, as much as I hate to say it. (I love to complain!)

If we scare away the undecided customers with constant nitpicking and microscoping of everything because they haven't hit HT level quality by their first or second release then its going to be our loss.

I'm just asking for realistic expectations. Personally, I don't think HT level quality is realistic at all. BC is a niche company. If you want to see what a niche company charges for HT quality items, go look at Toys McCoy Indiana Jones or Enterbay.

As I have said many times, I love my #11, have a pre-order ready to complete on when the AMY figure finally is ready, and I am just waiting for the #10 and #4 Pre-Orders to go live so I can put a deposit down on those too. If BC can work a #3 and a #9 too, that will be all my personal favourite Doctors covered.

The only thing that does concern me is partially the delays, but more so the lack of announcement regrading the most recent delay. The #10 PO was supposed to go live in December, it did not and we heard nothing about it until the new proto photo yesterday, and even then it just the photo. Likewise the #4 PO is supposed to be this month, will it now be with the #10 already delayed?

Probably not.

To go from a company that excelled at keeping the fan base upto date, to letting the proposed PO of one of the most popular versions of the character slip by without a single word is just not very good. The now much more frequent and prolonged periods of silence are damaging them, and that is exactly what I do not want them to do. I suppose that we have been spoilt by BCS's previous open door policy, and now that they are behaving like the 'bigger boys' it comes as a bit of a culture shock. Personally I preferred the personal touch, it singled them out as very different from the rest.

As to the new proto itself. I think that it looks very good indeed. I have been a collector of 1:6 scale figures for 10 years and have rarely seen a suit and tie (and let's not forget his Great Coat) combination that sits anything like well on a figure. It's one of the often mentioned limitations of 1:1 scale materials in a 1:6 scale environment. A bit of fiddling with and it will look better I am sure. I am in for the long haul with this line and am ready to order.

I would agree with everything you said there, Daron. I am waiting for completion on Amy too and I will order 10 as soon as it goes up and 4. I will also order Clara and Rose if she is ever made etc etc. However, the long silences have been frustrating to say the least. At least they are still in business and we may get a few more figures than I was expecting little over a month ago!

Well we certainly seem to be getting #10 which would be brilliant for the fans and for BCS themselves too. Both in terms of credibility and for a much needed oncoming injection of cash. A whole slew of new orders will be something tangible and ...better...on paper, the likes of which they they can take to a business manager of their bank and say "We need more cash!"

ello whovians!

is there a thread for the 5inch scale figs? i would like to get a 2000 era dalek but unsure and what the best ver is, there are so many now! desperate for whovian intel on this.

thks :)

Well I got my 11th Doctor and love it. I think Big Chief nailed it and even though I am seeing posts about delays and such I am on board for future releases including the expansion packs.

It really is an awesome figure. I get giddy whenever I think about the possibilities this line has. :love

Hey anyone got any tips on who you would go about fixing the suspenders if they break? , the bit that slots into the pants was melted on the inner side thus causing it to stay in place, that is the part that broke off. This is his suspender on this front left.

Honestly, as much as I love Doctor Who, I hate this freakin' thread.

On one side you've got people who criticize everything to a an absolutely ridiculous extreme that far exceeds simple opinion or, often, even basic reality.

On the other you have people who defend and make excuses for every complaint, no matter how legitimate it may be, or how non inflammatory a manner in which it was stated, and who seem to be on a personal crusade to crush all who dare state any view that isn't 100% glowing all the time.

Predictably both sides continually butt heads, meanwhile anyone that lives anywhere between those two extremes either gets raked over the coals for not being extreme enough in their own views (either pro or con), gets routinely taken out of context or misquoted in a lame attempt to present them in a way that was never intended in a weak and gutless way of undermining their opinion, or else just plan gets ignored amongst all the other BS that seems to be constantly going on.

Which in turn means the chances of sharing personal opinions and having decent, civil and interesting discussions about this line, the company, or pretty much anything related really, are pretty damn long odds indeed, and the ability to even just try to keep up with any news or developments is often little more than an exercise in frustration, due to all of the above that must be waded through.

God forbid people actually learn to state their opinions as such, and respect others rights to have, hold and state different ones, without turning everything into a petty warzone of endless bickering, belittlement, and recriminations.

This.

I had the same problem, actually it was also on the front left. I just glued it on with super strong glue. So far it hasn't come off again.

Lucky we've got this thread as a back up, eh?

Thanks for all the info about ties in the locked thread from everyone, I didn't see it last night as I went to bed (it was around midnight when I posted). Great reference for painting a 1/6 tie - but does anyone know where I can get a 1/6 scale tie from?

Great decision - that and the more realistic edition size for 10 are giving me much more confidence about BC, and confidence is important when you're paying someone a deposit. I've no doubt that 1000 is the right number given that a number of people will be waiting for the blue suit version.

A 1/4 figure or statue would cost about as much as a 1/6 Tardis and I'd rather have one of those.

I wonder when we are going to get a glimpse of the new and improved Amy? BC said they are happy with how it looks so why not let us see it.
