Not a very flattering pic, clothes look awful here .. and where the sculpt meets the neck!

Ridiculous post above. Cloths look good.

What is with you guys talking about the neck? This is STANDARD for almost all figures.

I think the nitpicking against this company is way out of control.

I can see complaining about the lack of product, but when one comes out and it looks good, don't torpedo it with BS posts.

"cloths look awful" Seriously? Go look at this crap Michael Jackson figure coming out. THAT'S AWFUL.

That doesn't mean they don't complain about the neck otherwise. Also it isn't quite standard a lot of releases by various companies have played with different styles for the neck. Sometimes the neck is sculpted, sometimes part of it is sculpted, and sometimes the entire neck is connected to the body. The way they did it for 10 just looks weird though. It's like some kind of hybrid and it looks very awkward where the head meets the neck.

And yes the clothes could certainly be better. Hopefully it is just them not quite fixing it up right for the shots, but the fit leaves a lot to be desired. For the premium price we should expect premium figures.

Sure, but do people point out the neck for every SSC or HT figure of the past 4 years since they went to this type neck? I don't think so.

This is standard for a toy, just like arm joints and wrist joints.

To throw it in this thread when its never talked about otherwise just seems to be piling on.

I'm pretty sure I've heard others complain about the double jointed necks before. Like I said, it doesn't bother me personally, but I understand that some folks don't like to see joints where it's possible to hide them.

I've heard it too, but its a general complaint across the industry that was voice a while ago and people don't pile on in every thread about it.

The latest SSC and HT threads aren't littered with people pointing it out.

If this is one's first rodeo I can see pointing it out, but for experienced collectors to act as if this is grossly worse than the normal figure is totally disingenuous, IMO.

I only point this out because I think its unfair to grill a tiny company for things SSC and HT can't even get right and get the pass. In the end your going to make it seem like this company is worse than it really is, people are going to pass and then the line stops and then where we all be?

At least allow them to play on a level field.

Calm down White Knight people point out the necks if it looks unsightly. The Catwoman thread is 50% composed of comments about the neck and that was all people talked about originally. Most female HT figures have people complaining about the way the neck splits in half to allow for rooted hair. Once again not all necks are built equal. When Hot Toys has a non sculpted neck, it looks far more natural than this one as they make the whole neck separate from the head. Look at the Bruce Lee DX. It sits on top of the neck. But with this one, they made part of the neck attached to the head and then the spot where it connects has a giant seam and two contrasting colors. It's an obvious issue to point out. It's not people trying to beat on the little guy.

If there is something to complain about, people on this board will definitely complain about it. It doesn't matter who makes it. Hell Sideshow products get the most complaints on this forum and it's a blasted Sideshow forum to begin with :lol

I did say "clothes look awful here" , they looked good in the other pics while it was on display, as for the neck yes many non necked sculpts attach this way, but usually it's much higher and curved cut off point, look how straight a cut it is, it looks horrible to me! thats my opinion take it or leave it!:lecture

I agree about the neck; it's even a problem with HT releases. Either fully sculpted or just the head; in between looks like dog****. As for the important parts of the figure, though; as a casual Who fan, I think it looks fantastic.

It really does, I wish this had a sculpted neck instead ..so hot toys are doing this with there figures recently? It' been a while since I got one of them.

I think the figure looks awesome, clothes, neck and all.

Can't wait for ten. I'm shocked by the knipicking on this thread. This is why we can't have nice things...

I also would love to see nine and rose. ( and maybe cap'n jack)

Seriously is it because this is some underdog company that they deserve to be completely above any form of criticism? My goodness :slap

There's two things

A) There's a very fine line between complaining and criticism. . . most everything on this forum is complaining, and it's grown very tiresome over the last few years.

B) There's a lot of die-hard Who fans here who are just happy to have product and don't take kindly to people speaking ill of something they like.

And yes, it is because they are an underdog company. Nearly all start-ups begin like this. Over time, people adjust their expectations

Then don't startup at high prices obviously trying to exploit the Enterbay and Hot Toys users who pay premium prices for premium products :dunno

And if there are die-hard fans who are happy to get anything then they shouldn't need to read the discussions at all because their purchase is 100% secured anyway. What do they care what we say?

And no most everything on this forum is criticism. Excessive criticism might as well be considered complaining but it's all the same. This company has yielded a lot of stuff worth complaining about so it is to be expected people are going to critique their practices. Amy STILL hasn't come out.

This thread is hopeless. I'm not even sure why I bother going in here. If I want news their Facebook page will supply it. Any form of criticism is instantly met with white knights shooting down everything, or temporary bans or thread locks. There's no point anymore.

Dude, I see you all over the board pointing out flaws in any given product. I don't think I've ever seen you be positive about something. I don't see why you bother either.

Honestly, as much as I love Doctor Who, I hate this freakin' thread.

On one side you've got people who criticize everything to a an absolutely ridiculous extreme that far exceeds simple opinion or, often, even basic reality.

On the other you have people who defend and make excuses for every complaint, no matter how legitimate it may be, or how non inflammatory a manner in which it was stated, and who seem to be on a personal crusade to crush all who dare state any view that isn't 100% glowing all the time.

Predictably both sides continually butt heads, meanwhile anyone that lives anywhere between those two extremes either gets raked over the coals for not being extreme enough in their own views (either pro or con), gets routinely taken out of context or misquoted in a lame attempt to present them in a way that was never intended in a weak and gutless way of undermining their opinion, or else just plan gets ignored amongst all the other BS that seems to be constantly going on.

Which in turn means the chances of sharing personal opinions and having decent, civil and interesting discussions about this line, the company, or pretty much anything related really, are pretty damn long odds indeed, and the ability to even just try to keep up with any news or developments is often little more than an exercise in frustration, due to all of the above that must be waded through.

God forbid people actually learn to state their opinions as such, and respect others rights to have, hold and state different ones, without turning everything into a petty warzone of endless bickering, belittlement, and recriminations.

Anyway, end of rant. Somebody please PM me when Ten has a pre-order date set. Until then, I'm out (not that I expect anyone cares :lol). Carry on.

the only complaint i have are the delays - period, just get the merchandise out already without disappointing peoples expectations in eluding to dates that don't materialise. Yeah its about as unreliable as the girl who waited, preferably in this time and space/place please and set the correct coordinates like notification to my email, thanks very much

I think it's fine to nit-pick, that's what the forum is for - and everyone knows I'm one of BC's biggest fans.

The neck issue is something that personally doesn't bother me, I'm much more interested in the likeness and overall look. You either care about it or you don't, and I don't, but I respect people who do.

As for the clothes, I agree they could do with futzing and maybe with the fabric being thinner so it hangs better; but that's based on one picture of the top half of the figure so hopefully it will look better in hand and in full. Suits are hard enough to do on regular sized people in 1/6 scale, a coat over a suit on a tall, thin individual must be murder to get right. But if people think BCS could do better they should say, that's how they'll improve. It all comes down to the thickness of the material.

And as a Who fan and Tenth Doctor fan, I'm just pleased to be getting this figure, so there is an element of me being 'easily pleased' with it which won't apply to other posters who, quite rightly, have higher expectations - which it's interesting for me to read. But yeah, if I got what's in the photo I'd be happy.

If you accept mediocrity then you'll continue to get mediocrity, it's easy as that. We're not talking about a $10 action figure here, we're dealing with a very expensive item. If the neck is a different color than the head then people have every right to complain. That is just sloppy work.
