I have zero problems with my 11's paint job. I think he looks fine next to my Hot Toys. It's not, like, equal, but I think he looks great. It's just missing some of the subtle texturing and sense of translucency/layering that HT do so well. But then, I never expected a HT-level paint job. Even from the proto. I was just so happy they matched the proto pretty much exactly. If anything, I might like the production head a bit more than the proto because it's a bit more smoothed out looking.

Same here. I guess if you got your face right up next to them you might notice a difference, but I tend to view my figures from a normal distance, and he blends right in with the HT stuff.

ugggggh, so much grumpy in this thread. I wish there was some way to subscribe only to new pics or news. *____*

But people said the paintjob was HT quality! :lol

I stand by that comment, but maybe I'm thinking about Hot Toys from a few years back - the last HT figure I owned was the Reeve superman and IMHO the Eleven paint job is comparable or better - but only where there wasn't too much grey wash from the stubble.

As for the eyework I think 11 had the best eyework i've ever seen outside of a repaint, but I admit, I haven't seen the Cap America figure in hand that it's being compared to.

Not to be a downer, but for what this is likely to cost, the clothing really needs to be looking better.

Clothes will be fine based on other pics. I think maybe they just under futzed.

But in any case I'll take that figure. That very one. No qualms at all. But then, I am a mindless BC minion. :D

Perhaps even more interesting is the logo they chose... or did the BBC choose it? Is that the official "classics" logo?

Personally I agree. The quality of the tailoring definitely needs improvement at this price point from what I have seen. And if it is better than it looks then there really is no excuse not to have it looking better in pics, unless they want to deliberately torpedo themselves ahead of time.

I mean don't get me wrong, it's not awful or anything, but 11 still had a little ways to go in regards of the clothing, at least in my opinion, though any shortfalls were easily forgiven for a first release. In fact, despite some definite niggles, I was pleasantly surprised overall at the quality of that release.

What I do find slightly worrying though is that the clothing shown for 10 so far actually looks worse, not better, or even on par with the previous release. Thicker material, over-sized looking items that don't look like they fit or drape very well or very believably, and just generally not all that well tailored based on what (admittedly little) I've seen thus far.

Hopefully that's just a prototype issue though. And I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and buy it regardless, just based on the quality of the sculpt, my love of the property, my overall satisfaction with 11, and my desire for this line to be successful. Until it's actually able to be judged in-hand it's largely all just guessing games and assumptions anyhow. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a touch worried about what I've seen thus far.

BBC. It's the 50th Anniversary logo that seems to be going on everything at the moment.

Maybe they'll use a different official logo for each month (Hartnell inspired for January, Troughton for February, Pertwee for March, etc)...

Was there supposed to be a separate thread on the 10th Doctor at some point, I thought?

Until then, I'll say that I like the figure a lot. The figure itself is great, and the clothes look good overall to me. But the coat definitely needs work. I would love to think it's just a matter of futzing, but it seems like BC would be masters of futzing to me, especially for an official photo. So it just worries me that this is as good as it gets futzing-wise. I actually think it's pretty close. It just seems like the coat needs to sit higher up on the shoulders. If it's just a matter of pulling the coat up more, great. But if it's something in the cut of the coat, then hopefully they can adjust. :)

They really need to adjust the clothing to look as good as possible when posting promo pictures. It'll avoid people freaking out over the clothing.

I hope they get round to Nine soon. That'd be a beautiful thing, and hopefully (but unlikely) a Rose to go alongside him. Rose works better with Nine over Ten, IMO.

My life would be complete with the two of them on my shelf.

I agree about Nine, and even Rose. I would love to have all three Doctors, but to have a Nine and Rose on the shelf would make me smile every time I walked past it - it would bring back that great feeling we had in 2005 when the series came back (before we found out Nine was leaving!).

I wonder if the coat is poseable with a wire or something? It really needs to be.
